Matt Sorum has always acted like he was a founding member of GNR, and also as someone who had a major hand in writing their biggest hits. He was neither, so his ego has always come off as not only out of control but way undeserved.

I have a file with all the leaks from 2003 to 2018 and the date each one leaked, and the date for the leak of the cell phone recording is June 26, 2018.
But a few select people definitely had it before that. Here's a thread with Kaneda talking about it in late 2017:

Turns out it's not "who would do this to you" in the song, but "oooo ooh"
We were way off... Haha
@Mindray11 (the guy who recorded it in Vienna) told us multiple times it was "ooh ooh". We just didn't listen. Once you hear Evader's version it's hard to unhear it in the cellphone clip though.

Well... That's kinda bullshit. I get that we're underserved with new music and info and treated with a bit of contempt (well this forum) but when the band is actually putting stuff out and they are just trying to get the quality of the finished product up to their standard AND then someone leaks the tracks? I think that's a bit shit of whoever leaked it.
Yes, they should have announced the delay earlier than the day after the original shipping date😄, but whatever! A few extra weeks is no big deal. We want it all yesterday. When we had nothing it was "I'd just like to hear anything" then we got one song, then it became "when are they releasing more". Underserved but we're also insatiable.
Anybody still hoping for gnr to suddenly be this slick operation that hits all the targets, nope. That is never going to happen. Would be great, but no.
It's not just that they should have announced the delay before the last minute. They should have had their ducks in a row with the mix before they made it available to pre-order back in August. Hell, per Slash these reworkings we're done during 2020 and they were still listening to mixes in June of this year while on tour. Insanity. So I don't have any sympathy for them on this either. Is it wrong to release someone else's content without their permission? Yeah, but not to the extent that I have to feel sorry for them in this case. They've had years to work on getting this right.

No. There are several moments on CD that are better, and IMO Monsters isn't even one of the best reunion songs.

No problem. Yes it could be 9, he said 8 but that was so long ago he may not be 100% precise.
That said, I don't hear Beltrami's signature sound for the CD era in the Thyme version we've heard, it doesn't sound like anything else he's touched on CD & General/Monsters, so maybe he doesn't count that one. Or maybe he forgot and there's another version of Thyme that sounds more like him.
I'm really hyped for Seven, apparently it's the best one. It will be hard to beat Monsters, it's becoming my favorite out of all CD songs. On par with TWAT at least, I just love the mean section, it's crazy I've listened to it countless times, can't get bored.
The Thyme version from the Village leaks is from 2000, Beltrami worked on the tracks in 2002.

The General chorus has got to be one of the rawest, most emotional Axl moments ever. I get that people might not like the more industrial style and the effects but WTF are people thinking saying it's a throwaway?

I remember someone said that Axl wanted it played in 2011, it was actually Tommy that didn't want it in the set because it was too hard to sing. Can't remember the source though, maybe someone else will.

Absurd-2
Hard Skool-8
Perhaps-7
The General-9
Monsters-6

Monsters is great lyrically. The melody in the chorus threw me off because it wasn't the style I was expecting from the beginning of the song but I enjoy it now. 7/10
The General is amazing. One of the darkest songs Axl's ever done and he puts everything into his performance. The melodies are creepy but catchy. 9.5/10

Remember when Sebastian said The General was a sequel to estranged? Yeah, I’m not really seeing that dude…
It wasn't an exact quote though, IIRC the interviewer said that Bach had described the The General as a sequel to Estranged. The interviewer may have been confused by something Bach said.

Monsters is growing on me, I was disappointed at first but I was just thrown off by how different the chorus sounded compared to what I was expecting. I really love The General and am baffled everyone seems to hate it. Besides Axl's voice being somewhat difficult to make out at points and the hip hop interlude the song is fantastic.

I think The General is a good song buried in shit production and effects. I hate Monsters. The chorus melody sucks imo.

The fact that the Universal page said it will be shipped or or "before" December 8, and mentions November 22 when asking if you want to cancel, tells me that this could still come out quite a bit earlier than December 8. Remember that Hard Skool starting shipping a full month early. Looking at it glass half full, you could interpret it as 12/8 is the latest they expect it to be ready and it could come out at any point before then. But it's hard to be glass half full with this band.

I was shocked I had to manually say I wanted to keep it. Definitely doesn't bode well. These probably haven't even been pressed, yet. @estrangedtwat is right to be nervous about it.
If true, the issue is probably that Axl is still too much of a pussy to release new (unleaked) music.

Simply more people know who Slash is. More people prefer the albums released with Slash. More people attend the shows to see Slash with Axl than any newgnr guitarist when they were around.
Majority want to hear slash and his style on newly released singles not some forgotten newgnr guitarists.
Axl if he had some intergrity would be recording all new tracks with the band.
I don't think integrity necessarily factors into it. If he doesn't have the muse, he doesn't have it. He's mentioned experiencing writers block before.

Two more days, boys and girls.
To those who believe it won't be released digitally, do you think it's a coincidence they are set to ship it out on a Friday?
The Hard Skool EP was set to be released February 25,2022, and was released early on January 28,2022, both Fridays, even though Hard Skool was already released digitally in September 2021. I'm not sure there's a correlation.

....wait, you guys are all counting on an official digital release?
WTF?
I thought we were counting down til someone gets their hands on the vinyl and shares it with us. That's the only way we're gonna hear it.
If you're waiting for pristine digital clarity, you're in for a much, much longer wait. That's not gonna happen til a true audiophile with an amazing set up can rip the vinyl and share it with us. Could be a while.
I see no reason why someone won't just hit "record" on their phone like they did with Perhaps at the jukebox.
I thought we were all on the same page here in that understanding. If you really think something's gonna happen at midnight New Zealand time, you're in for a big letdown.
Allegedly, the vinyl exists. All we can do now is wait. But it literally should be any day now. Maybe even today.....
Not counting on it, I allowed the optimism of others here to temporarily delude me. But I agree, 95% chance it's physical only.

Yeah, it’s not happening. No link fire. No imminent live performance. All signs point to a vinyl exclusive release.
Shacklermyrye posted this on Gnrevo a few days back in regards to link fire: BTW I know a few people here and apparently a few just viewing the forum will be trying this link from time to time https://gunsnroses.lnk.to/thegeneral
If you do it may also be worth checking https://gunsnroses.lnk.to/thegeneralandmonsters. Given that this song is packaged in with the Perhaps link.to however it is likely that these links may never become active at all. -

I think you guys are setting up for disappointment with the digital version. There’s no proof whatsoever that it’s coming to streaming platforms. Nada.
I've believed it to be physical only ever since radiorock said so in August. But the last couple of days everyone here seems convinced it's coming this Friday, so I suppose I've gotten caught up in the hype. But you're right, there's no real reason to believe it's coming out digitally. The only thing in it's favor was Fernando's cagey "perhaps" response when asked if it would be released on streaming platforms, I'd think if it was physical release only he'd have said nothing, but he's a notorious douche so...

If the World was on the alt set list in 2006
Was it listed by it's full title or just If?

That back cover started to float around in 2007 and it always intrigued me because, while it was generally thought to be fake, when the actual album came out we saw the choice of colors and fonts was quite close to the genuine artwork. Could totally be a coincidence, of course.
I talked about that cover in this thread from many years ago, but the imageshack link to that image is obviously dead:
That said, I'm 100% sure that the back cover from 2007 didn't include Perhaps. If The World was listed just as "If", that I remember for sure.
Regarding whether or not that tracklist screenshot was shared (including Perhaps) before 2019, I honestly don't remember.
If The World was completely unknown until the Skwerl leak in June 2008, so if a 2007 cover had "If" on it it was almost certainly legit.
Matt Sorum's Autobiography

He absolutely has acted that way. He has never behaved as a replacement, has showed absolutely zero humility or appreciation to Axl or the other guys. Whether it's his 20+ years of interviews since leaving the band or his autobiography, he has been snide, egotistical and has always equated himself to the others, when he has no such importance. Exhibit A: his demanding that Duff force Axl to include him in the reunion.
