Good show last night. Axl seems to be in good form and Slash a monster as always. Even most of the fans seem really happy apart from the 4 or 5 that desperately want Richard to be lead guitarist or even Ashba...

Most people complaining about Slash's playing just want him to play more like his old self. It's not that they prefer someone else's style.

I know it's a wild theroy but London Hudson was their I'm wondering if the long term plan is for London to replace frank soon.

Imo it would be cool tho to have a father and son duo in GNR in slash & London

People were speculating this back in 2017 too. One of Axl's main personality traits is loyalty and he ain't replacing Frank unless he quits.

Yeah but can you save the minor stuff for later?

There's no reason for someone to not say something like "I think Axl was weak on that verse" because some other user only wants to read positive comments. Only making positives comments completely dilutes the purpose of the thread, which is simply to discuss the show.

I've often wondered this. Did Bucket where the mask, or any mask in the studio?

There was some story about Bucket (can't remember where it's from, maybe someone else will) where Bucket was quitting and a manager of some kind had to try to convince him to stay. Bucket would only talk through Herbie (his hand puppet) so the manager was arguing with the puppet.

"Slash confirmed the band had been in the studio."
"Slash also revealed that the band was working on music during lockdown."
"We have one more tour left to do next summer, and then that'll free us up to be able to go in and work on a new record."
Yes, it’s open to interpretation, but I see this very positively. It would be weird to just release a single and start touring again instead – in terms of what he would tell later to the journalists.
    Soon or not, it’s coming.

I am not disputing they have recorded new music, just brand new music. The music the band was in the studio for and was working on during the lockdown was the reworked CD stuff. Slash confirmed this in an October 2021 interview where he also confirmed the band had worked on nothing new. The only time Slash has have ever mentioned anything new actually being written was a 2018 interview where he mentioned having a folder for GNR ideas on his phone. Slash said he wants to go in and record a brand new record, but these are just hopes of his until we hear something more substantial.

But then, you need to pay attention. Otherwise you’re the one perpetuating the Groundhog curse. Slash talked about a couple of singles, yes. But he also said (1) he’d worked on new music since the reunion and (2) there’d be a '23 summer tour and then work on the new record would begin.
Now, none of these things suggest to me there’d never be a whole new album (and "soon" is very relative, isn't it). In fact, there may even be a couple of newly written songs! Sounds utterly foolish, I know, but I’m just going by the actual factual information we’ve gathered so far from the source itself. All these possibilities are there, the rest is just a question of probability, beliefs etc., but none of that is off the table in any case. So, these are the facts.

He did not say this. He said they'd be free to work on a new record, obviously voicing what he hopes would happen. This is different than saying he and Axl have a plan to work on a new album after the tour.

It's like groundhog day with people on this forum when it comes to new music. You could tell them 100 times that Slash said we're only getting 2-4 more songs and that they haven't wrote or recorded anything new, and they'll still come back the next day saying things like "I hope they release a full album soon! ... I think we'll get a full album soon ... I can't wait to hear the full album!" .... It's incredibly frustrating to read, especially when this thread, just like the previous, is full of it. Yes, we all want new music. But when the 2nd most important member of the band is telling you verbatim that there is no new music and only 4-6 old ChiDem songs are coming, how the hell can you possibly still fool yourself into thinking otherwise???

To me the idea of a brand new album was delusional long before Slash confirmed anything. Axl is done creatively and has been for well over a decade and anyone expecting him to write new lyrics to new Slash riffs is kidding themselves.

Hold on, people are still thinking that there may be a 'new' album in terms of newly written material? Give that one up folks.

A 'new' album in terms of Chinese leftovers, re-worked? It would be madness if that didn't happen. Now is the time to get it out there too, but I imagine they'll do what they did before- a couple of singles they don't promote then they'll let the momentum die again as soon as the tour ends.

Incredibly frustrating as it seems they're on the crest of a wave at the moment.

Agree on a brand new album not happening. As for a new album of reworked CD, if Slash is correct on the amount he worked on than there's not enough material done for a full album. Then again, some albums used to be that short, Rainbow Rising is only six tracks. But I don't know if that would be considered a full album nowadays.

I think their position in the band was ever so slightly different from that of Slash. :)

Not really, not in the sense that he can make Axl write new music if he isn't inspired to do so. Axl has talked about having writers block back in the 90s when Slash and Duff were in the band. If he's not feeling it, he's not feeling it.

Because Slash said last year they want to work on a full album in fall 2023. Why does no one have the quote of that?

"Well, I mean, I want to go in and cut a whole brand new record at some point, probably sooner than later. But other than that, we have stuff that we still got to come out, so that’s gonna be coming out piecemeal over the next… I don’t know, over the next few months or something like that. So that’s basically it. We have one more tour left to do next summer, and then that will free us up to be able to go in and work on a new record. So, you know, I’ll keep you posted."

Seems more it's something Slash is personally hoping will happen, rather than something the band has decided on doing.

  11. My questions on the Hard Skool mix are these:

1.Why would Axl approve of his voice being buried in the mix? I suppose there's a chance he liked the "echoey" effect it had, but still...

2.Why did Axl approve of Melissa's keyboards being buried so far in the mix? Obviously he commissioned her to add them, but you can barely hear them. Considering that most people in their 60s (especially those who perform loud music for a living) have weaker hearing it's hard to imagine he could hear them at all.

This one is the Oklahoma outro

The other one posted has nothing to do with the leak, but it might be a new extended part of the outro. Sounds like it could indeed fit the song. These ard from last year. The Perhaps ones are from the Tel Aviv soundcheck. So 3 unreleased songs are soundchecked so far.

It does not sound similar enough to the Oklahoma outro to say with certainty that it is. There is maybe a vague similarity but none of the same music is playing.

  13. Axl said he wrote a song about child abuse in the 2001 Argentina interview where he revealed the PRL title. Of course Brain had just entered the band a few months prior and I think he said he didn't even meet Axl until 2001. He mentioned Axl asking him about the title The General, so it would appear the song about child abuse was written prior to the instrumental that Brain wrote. But it's certainly possible that Axl took the lyrics and melodies and then superimposed them into the instrumental of The General. In the China exchange he said he prefers to write lyrics and melody first.

Evader was pretty sure of these, but they don’t make much sense to me. I hope they’re wrong, too, but you can make out a lot of similarities in the leak if you try. They could still be quite wrong, though. No disrespect to Evader

    {Chorus}
Do you remember who did it?
    Who did that to you...
Who would do this to you?
Who would do this to you? To the young!
Who would do that to me, boy?
Up to abuse, in fact you knew them
    Who wants to lose?
    To lose
    Do you?

    {Verse}
I've got hopes and dreams, and I must feel bolder
My hopes, my dreams have died
Now I rest my hate in the rumors as they're pushin' through
There's a child now chained to the bed now
To me it's time I'm always workin' and I'm gonna get out
I think it's high time you should fuckin' die, child
I think this time you've broken everything inside
    I won't be ever satisfied
This is why, baby, you know I got you

    {Chorus}
Do you remember who did it?
    Who did, that to you...
Who would do this, to you?
Who would do this to you? To the young!
Who would that to me, boy?
Up to abuse, in fact we knew them
    Who wants to lose?
    To lose
    Do you?

Some of the lyrics Evader came up with seem to fit perfectly. Some of them I can't even hear Axl singing anything in said parts like the "Now I rest my head my hate in the rumors that their pushing through" line. Other parts like the second half of the chorus, I don't think it sounds like Axl is singing different lines like "who wants to lose" or "up to abuse", it just sounds like he's singing "who would do that to you" on repeat.
