The above commenters claiming GNR never lied to us are doing it in a multi year old thread crated because of Lies Slash told us about two more singles from the Village Studios re-recordings , that he claimed was coming out 2 years ago. 😝
There kinds of Lies have been going ever since the Chin Dem era stated in the late 90s. And even before.
The "nut swingers" denial of truth just added validity to my statement
I don't think Slash lied. I assume Slash was going off the info that Axl and perpetual liar Fernando gave him.

They should have released CD before the 2006 Tour. No one would have cared if Bumble was on the album or not.
Axl would have cared. He wanted everyone to feel included. Very loyal in that way.

Giving Sp1at the benefit of the doubt that he is not making things up, when he asked the record label about unreleased CD material they probably thought he was referring to a CD boxset of original demos or something of the kind. I doubt the label keeps up with all the unreleased song titles, so if the band have handed in reworked CD songs they might just assume they are brand new.

I understand your point, but we simply don't know what we don't know. We do now know (thanks to the Village leaks) that a bulk of CD was finished by 2000. So by 2008, after the album's release, it can safely be assumed they worked on more than just the songs that were finished between 2000 and 2008. Scraped didn't even exist in the Village leaks, one of the few songs that wasn't expected by most to be on the album, or exist at all. I'm sure there's others.
Members here who attended the 2010 after-party in Vienna said there were one or more songs played that they couldn't identify. Now they could have been songs like Seven, Oklahoma/Berlin, Monstrocity, etc. that we know by name only. I have a feeling Monstrocity could be Zodiac 13 for some reason.
That was @Mindray11 who attended the Vienna show and recorded The General on his cellphone. He said they played "more than 3" unreleased songs, including one that was similar in style to SOD, and two remixes.

I know these updates don't usually amount to much, but this is good news. Sp1at is a promoter who usually gets his news from the management of band members (which is why the updates usually don't contain any real news on new music). A while back he said he found the band's contact at Universal. This is the first time he's used the label as a source for a concrete timeframe on new music.

Sp1at update at Gnrevo:
Hiya,
Songs are coming out soon, summertime. Record label are the goto for this, band members vague on anything
Year off next year, assumed from external parties and plans outside gnr
Glastonbury will have at least one guest possibly, source, the guest. Very guessable lol

That was likely the initial idea as Slash suggested they would release the material that was leftover from the CD sessions.
I’m of the opinion that with limited exceptions, it’s the only material that was “complete” including all necessary vocals. Obviously lack of interest in HS put a damper on these sort of piecemeal releases.
Yeah, I also don't think's a coincidence that Fernando stopped communicating with fans here and on Reddit after the Hard Skool flop. He only ever checked in during times when there was something to sell (after Locked and Loaded in 2018 and to announce the Hard Skool physical release in 2021). The fact that they released it on not only vinyl but cassette leads me to believe that Team Brazil overestimated the number of hardcore GNR fans left. Once they realized that they peaced out.

Axl's Soul Monster quote came after a fan asked him what his favorite unreleased or officially released CD song was. So when Axl said Soul Monster was his favorite, it seems he meant his favorite CD-era song. Quite a statement. Yet this apparently has not helped in getting it released. In those same chats Axl said TIL was the track he was most proud of on CD, and yet he also said that until Robin brought it up he never even considered releasing it. It seems with Axl there is no connection between his excitement/fondness for a song and a desire to share it with the public.

My guess is there's nothing in the vault that Slash and Duff could do anything with and sound like Guns'n'Roses. "Hard School" was the only option.
Atlas has a Yesterdays vibe and Perhaps is also in the UYI vein.

Oh I was taking HS as one of the Village ones. Ok, HS may be from 96 or whatever, but do you think Slash would use these words because of 3 or 4 years' difference? I don't think so.
Slash has confirmed they haven't worked on any new music, just cd era stuff, so the epic songs he talked about recording would have been from 2006-2007 at the very latest (and more than likely they were done before that), so still less than a decade after the Village sessions.

No. Even if you ignore the fact Axl used 10+ studios for CD and he would hardly use all of them just to thinker with the few Village demos, Slash talked about a song in one of his interviews and literally said that this one "doesn’t have that kind of history" (as SW/HS). Meaning, it’s younger. Meaning, not from the Village sessions. There you go – new(ish) songs we know nothing about.
Slash specifically said that the epic songs he worked on don't have the same history as Hard Skool, which could simply mean that Hard Skool dates to the mid 1990s, not necessarily that the others won't come from the Village sessions.

Slash alluded to there being 4 more songs to release, give or take, though he also said he couldn't remember exactly how many there were. There's no reason to expect a full album unless you believe Axl is going to write new music, which is very unlikely at this point, to put it mildly.

Hopefully they, at the very least drop a new single or two on this tour.
Nightmare scenario: The four songs Slash talked about are Atlas, SOG, Perhaps, & OMG 2. Axl continues to hoard the rest of the unleaked CD era songs to his grave.

Could have just been talking about standalone tracks though ala Absurd/Hardskool. Anything on a prospective album could be made up of all sorts - and that’s fine by me. Take the best of whatever material they have regardless of when it’s from.
I mean, it seems in the past few days the fanbase has kinda deluded itself into thinking a full album is coming. There's no indication of that though. The delaying of these singles might signify more work being done by any other band, very unlikely with GNR.

I don't think the other stuff coming will be from 95-97, because when Slash talked to Eddie Trunk about Hard Skool he said "that one goes way back, the others don't have as much history" (paraphrasing). So the "epic" tracks Slash talked about recording on should be from around circa 1999-2002, imo.
-
Unless this is a Pele alt account, Soul Monster should certainly make the list, since Axl said he recorded on it.
-
Too bad Axl never did Nutbush City Limits while he still had the rasp.
-
Not writing new music. If he doesn't feel like writing new songs, he shouldn't. Nothing great is going to come from him phoning it in. This is an entirely different issue from him hoarding completed songs for decades, which he rightfully deserves shit for.

I see @klakly is still a pathetic little man with no life.

Axl having a stroke in 2011 does line up with a lot of the changes from 2010-2011. In late 2011 he re-emerged with the Mickey voice and a more mellow personality. I always assumed it was antidepressants.

Is there a single picture online of the inflatable Mao Zedong that GNR used in 2011? I've read about it but never seen it.

As disappointing as it will be if that NAMM setlist is legit, Breakdown would be a major win.
