"No matter how much money they throw in our faces, there's no reason for us to get together...unless there's a mutual respect and understanding...and we're way far from that."

    -Slash

It shouldn't be about the money, it should be about the fans...I totally agree with what Rod/Ronnie are saying.

  2. Well tough shit Slash you left the band centuries ago and it's moved on to another beastly form, there's no time for a performance, there's only precious time for the CD trilogy.

    This.

No one forced the whiney bitch to leave the band.

Wow...you serious? None of your posts will be taken seriously after that comment.

  3. Absolutely terrible - mick wall hates axl. He is one of the 'journalists' axl rants about in "get in the ring"

:rofl-lol: EXACTLY. I would hope that anyone who's heard GITR, and see's that he's the author, would automatically put the two together.

  4. You are downplaying the others involvement in the songwriting process. Did Axl write the guitar riffs? No. Did Slash write lyrics? No. But you seem to make it out like Axl was total creative drive powering the band which is totally untrue.

No, I'm not. The problem is that many of you are very emotionally attached to the perceived value of your heroes and it causes you to over amplify anything you consider to be a slight.

My premise was simple. Axl and Izzy started the band. Axl and Izzy were the primary songwriters.

Both of those things are facts. Neither of those things minimize the contributions of Slash.

And yet, several of you chew on those sentences and then spit out your own premise, while attributing it to me. Why? So you can then pick apart something I never said, since what I actually did say is indisputable.

I find it funny that when I give proper credit to Axl and Izzy, those of you who have disagreed have each either singled out Axl or singled out Izzy, even though I was very clear that I was giving the credit to BOTH of them for starting the band and writing MOST of the songs.

    Not all. Most.

Not sure why so many of you have a hard time reading and understanding basic sentences.

Surely by now you must be tired of constantly defending yourself to everyone on this forum while we're all wrong and you're always right. You're like a one man army fighting for his cause....except you really don't have a cause, and are just trying to stir shit up. If that's what gets you through the day, have at it I guess.. :shrugs:

  5. The thread shouldn't of been merged with this one as it makes it harder t find the original post but anyway,

On topic, I agree that if axl played with the old band, it would cause some negative effects towards new gnr, and Axl as worked quiet hard to not just voluntarily instigate harm to it,

cue the "axl worked hard on the new band" sarastic posts

    Mods:

"duuhhhh...heres a thread about da new album...ohhh look heh heres one about bears...huuuhhh...guess i'll merge these....heh heh"

If 10k is out of your league, I'll consider 2500 USD, but anything less than that and it would be a complete waste of my time. I'm not eager to prove my superiority, but two or three of these bets a year is a nice little chunk of change for me and people usually choose tennis, which despite the required running, I am skilled enough to clean up. I would have no confidence whatsoever in long distance running, nor would it be wise to put my body through that. I have to protect my knees.

But you clearly are eager or you wouldn't have spent half this thread challenging people. It's all about your physical prowess not your bank balance so put up or shut up! Looks like I was right all along eh? You're throwing large figures of cash about to ensure you never have to go through with any of these challenges. You bluffed, I called it. Now be quiet and behave yourself! :rofl-lol:

Agreed, MSL, please quiet down and go back to your corner.

  6. GNR 1-6 -

The effort to promote their most recent record, tour the world and release subsequent records. You complain about the lack of activity over the course of a decade, but fail to see that much of that time was spent rebuilding several times as well as battling for the right to exist when dealing with labels/promoters/managers/etc who all preferred for GNR to fail in the hopes that failure would = reunion. Despite all the stumbling blocks and drama, GNR still exists and has made serious progress since 2009.

To those in power who have finally began to accept that Axl really will not do a reunion under any circumstance and maybe it's time to cooperate and make whatever money can be made from the current band rather than chasing the massive reunion money, any sign of weakness on Axl's part in regards to his refusal to reunite could refuel previous efforts to impede progress by the current band.

If Axl is serious about the current band, his best move (in my opinion) is to show up, be civil, accept the honor, and go home.

As for who wrote the material GNR has been playing, the old band certainly didn't write the 7 songs played from Chinese and Slash only helped write one of the 7 songs played from Illusions. He didn't help write any of the songs played from Lies.

    Hypocritical much?

Not at all, but if you're going to make a serious accussation, you better be prepared to back it up. Seems to me like you're making a very lazy attempt to besmirch my name. Why don't you man up and actually explain why you believe I'm being hypocritical instead of just throwing out empty attacks? Why not put a little effort into your posts rather than continuing with lazy and shallow duds?

    #trollbetter

Dude, first of all, enough with the #trollbetter. We get it....you take pride is disarming posts by 'cupcakes'. It's really annoying though.

Youre a hypocrite because I've seen you say to about 5 people that they are not qualified to voice their opinions, and why should we consider their opinions etc. etc. then in the next breath you give yours. Kind of funny that you didn't realize that. But I'm done going back n forth with you...you're obviously very bored.

  8. I think u are putting to much importance into it.

This is rock and roll. Axl could play a couple songs with the old guys and it won't have lifetime career consequences.

It would just be a fun thing to do. Nothing more, nothing less.

THIS. Holy shit people over analyze the absolute hell out of this rrhof thing. All this talk about it undoing the new bands progress, etc. is just so absurd to me.

  9. The was Slash reacted when they asked if it was due to Axl, was almost as if he made fun of Axl. I'm sure that this wont increase the chances.

If he really wants to play and not just look like the good guy, he should address it in a more serious manner I think.

...huh? Making fun of axl? All he said was "...not necessarily..". How is that condescending? The radio hosts said "axls people" etc. Slash just said it would be cool to play, especially fo their "legion of fans" but it's been pretty clear that it's not gonna happen. Not sure how you hyper analyzed that into slash not being serious, and making fun of axl...

  10. Interesting but as some others have mentioned, doing so would undo everything Axl has been trying to do for years. It is a catch 22 either way.

Don't understand this notion that it would 'undo everything he' accomplished, etc.' I just don't get it. the original line up is what made it POSSIBLE for this band we see today to even exist. What's wrong with thinking that it would really help Axl's public image? Everyone thinks he destroyed the band, etc. so having some hugs and playing a song or two would make people think "damn he's a really cool, nice guy." This is just my opinion though.

  11. Death Magnetic was only released mere months(3) before Chinese Democracy and came out only 5 years after their last release(compared to TSI which was released 13 years prior) St. Anger. Metallica's follow up album will most likely be out before the next Guns N' Roses album too, it's already being written. Sorry, I do not see the correlation you are making. You want to compare apples with apples, make it fair. I'm not even counting UYI as Guns last release before Chidem just to give it worse case scenario and am not counting Metallica's 4 recently released tracks on Beyond Magnetic.

You guys need to make up your mind. Are we discussing the follow up to Chinese or are we still bitching about how long we waited for Chinese? Because if we're discussing the wait for the follow up, the comparison to Metallica is very fair.

Van Halen just put out their first album in 14 years. Do you think their next album will be out three years from now? I doubt it.

Your attempt to hurt my feelings simply further proves my premise that the haters are simply looking to release built up negative energy caused by their own failings in life. If my physical condition is what you consider when determining whether to take my thoughts on the band seriously, that doesn't reflect poorly on me at all. That simply exposes how illogical and flawed your ability to analyze facts is.

The key to trolling is to at least appear to be genuine. You must have forgotten that part.

    #trollbetter

    blahh blahh....blah.....etc.

Very weak Brownstone. If "you're fat" and "blah blah blah" is all you can come up with, then you definitely need to #trollbetter

Sorry for offending you. That was a cheap shot. But honestly, it's really not something I care to spend time on. You annoy the hell outta me, especially with all that bullshit a few years ago. I don't know you personally, but really man, the way you tried describing me a few posts back, is exactly how I'd describe someone making prophetic predictions, without telling anyone how you know the shit. I think you're full of shit. And that's why you bother me.

  12. MSL

If it's taken 10 years to get the casual fans (which I'm assuming you are referring to) to realize that Slash is not in the band, why recruit a very mildly talented guitarist to replace him who takes the stage wearing flannel shirts, a top hat? These casual fans obviously are going to do double takes to make sure it isn't slash.

edit: oops, forgot to elaborate on this part.

The reason for this is debatable, and in my opinion, it's Axl way of trying to appease the 'casual fan', realizing that Slash's look means more to the GNR image than he thought. This is just my opinion though. And I wouldn't be surprised if Axl even told DJ this before he joined the band.

One night with the old band would not "undue years of progress" as you put it. And even if it did...it's what the fans want. This whole thing about not doing it to undue progress, offend the new band, etc. is all irrelevant and really a testament to how malleable peoples minds are. I like this new band, sure...it's the closest thing I can get to the real GNR. But a chance to see the original band perform? That one night would trump every live performance done since 1993. This board is the only place where people are so....weird.

Do you have any qualifications you can point to that we can consider when deciding whether or not you know what the band SHOULD do?

Is it not really what you would LIKE for them to do?

Duff and Axl have both acknowledged they are aware of how much a one night reunion would mean to the fans, and they have both expressed a willingness to participate.

MSL...do you have any qualifications that we can consider when deciding whether or not you're full of shit with all of your predictions and confiscated information?

  15. Let me just say that I am a fan of the new band, but I also think it would be super cool if for one night the old members got together and played a couple songs at the Rock N Roll Hall of Fame ceremony. So here's my question ... Assuming they all show up to accept their awards ... What would happen if the audience started chanting "Just one song!" It would be a public relations nightmare (in my opinion) if they didn't oblige. That's all most people want to see, just one more song. Then everyone could get on with their lives and continue to support Axl and the awesome band that is the new Guns N Roses.

Why perpetuate this idea of the old members getting together to perform again? They are indicating it's not going to happen, they have said NO, yet people still persist in so many of the forums I read. dry.gif

When are people going to finally put this topic to rest, or is this going to still be the topic of discussions when they are in their 90s & hobbling around in walking frames? It really does get so frustrating when people can't take "NO" for an answer.....

Because the original members of GNR reuniting, even if just for one song, would be one of, if not the biggest moment in rock history in many many years....that's why people continue to perpetuate this idea.... :shrugs:

    Fuck. The. Reunion.

Fuck the reunion? Lets talk about facts and success

    1985-1993 5 studio albums,Appetite,Lies, 2 Ilussions and Spagetti.

Apettite 1 of the albums is a legendary masterpiece one of the biggest album gods created, 2 illusions 2 masterpiece and milions of people converted

Since 1985 to 1993 i dont know how many tours and people, but as i said later, the conquered the world,te shows where MOST OF THEM awesome, and the band was set on fire on stage.Only a few but very well know bad days.

Since 2001 to 2012 One record, that its not a masterpiece, has 5 or 6 GOOD songs. At least 4 tours ,2 of them 2001-2002 and 2011-2012 Axl singing really bad in a bad shape, 1 of them singing really good 2006 and the other one 2010 singing like 90s.

Also many many bad reviews, and many people joking ( people apart of the Gnrforumworlds) about how fat was,how he sounded,etc...

So fuck reunion? check what each lineup has done,in more or less the same time.NOT EVEN CLOSE.

    Yes,Reunion PLEASE!

5 or 6 good songs? lololol

If they reunite Axl will sing better? You need a cup of reality man ;)

5 or 6 songs LOL indeed. That album is 100% trash. Nobody except a handful of nuts on this forum thinks its worthy of the GNR name. Band that brought us AfD, UYIs, Lies, etc or the wanna bes that replaced the wanna bes that made CD? The group that has released one album in 15 years. Or the band that created EVERYTHING GNR FANS ACTUALLY CARE ABOUT. No one thinks of CD when you talk about GNR. They think of AfD and UYIs...End of story.

Hahahahhahahhahahahhahahahhahahaha this guy the majority of humans.

    Fixed it for ya.

  16. this further convinces me that he's either gay, or bi. The hair...the make up...the shirt..."I can't see me, but that's probably a good thing...hehe.." come on only chicks and gay guys say shit like that. It's cool, I don't care, just admit it already...

  17. Izzy is not going to show up. That is the reason there will be no performance. There cannot be a reunion if all of the parties are not present. It is not Axl's fault nor is it Slash's, it is what it is. Just remember that this is GNR and nothing is set in stone.

I think this can be true. Maybe Izzy doesn't want to put up with the whole "Axl vs. Slash" thing again so he probably stays at home playing his acoustic guitar or whatever. :shrugs:

Interesting, though, that he is sort of fueling the axl/slash "feud" by not showing up...since they won't be playing together if he's not there (supposedly..) :shrugs:
