  1. I already said this isn't the place for this kind of discussion, but some people like to bait you into an argument...it's petty, but oh well.. :shrugs:

For the amount of time Dizzy has been in gnr, the total amount of contribution he has made should be EXPECTED to be the very least....not something to give accolade for. What has he done? Intro on Street of Dreams? Co wrote a few songs, which obviously we don't know how much input he had. The only thing, from what I've gathered, that he has single handedly done is write Silkworms, an unfinished demo, which many people (myself included) consider the worst song in GNR history, with the exception of My World. So he wrote a song that didn't make it on the album, co wrote 3 or so that did make it, and plays keyboards, synths, and bongos.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to be the guy...travel with GNR, be considered a rock star while having minimal musical ability, it would be an amazing life. The only thing I might not love is knowing that I dare not ever speak my mind to axl, since he gave me this wonderful life...but I can bite my tongue, and deal with it...

The fact that he's dissed former members, i.e. Slash, Duff, etc. is where it goes form just shaking my head and laughing at this lucky SOB to having a strong dislike for him. Without those guys, he simply would not be where he is today. He clings to the GNR name like like a nursing baby. And yet he's so dumb and naive that he doesn't comprehend that he owes everything he has to them. Like I said before...he was basically born into this life, and feels like he earned it. Every time I hear him do an interview and reference old GNR as if he were a key element in it, it makes me fucking cringe.

This is my opinion of Dizzy. I get that some of you like the guy and that's great, good for you.

  2. Yawn.

Cool. Clearly you wanna express your disinterest, by saying "yawn", instead of just, not quoting me, and not saying anything, which would actually express not being interested in what I'm saying. So why bother quoting me and saying "yawn"? I could've just ignored your lame little condescending post, but the fact that you thought it would be funny to go outta your way to show that my post was boring to you just rubbed me the wrong way. And usually I get a kick out of your posts. Shame.

  3. Well I personally hate Dizzy and think he is the luckiest man alive to be where he is. But, I'm all for the people who can go grilling him with questions. Let's get every drop of info. we can. haha

why would you personally hate the man ??? did he bang your mum or something ?

I've only met him once but he seemed like a very nice person.

I also think he has made a great contribution to GnR's sound over the years...

Everyone's nice when a fan comes up to meet them. Come on man...really?

I think he's made zero contribution to GNR's sound over the years. And I dislike him because of the way he's talked about the former members of the band in the various interviews he's done.

Well the way I read it was that Dizzy had personally done something to you - Hence the " I personally hate Dizzy".

All the Former AFD/Illusions-era members have said bad things about each other, it is what it is. None of them are perfect - they're just humans.

But your'e entitled to your opinion I guess.

What? You thought Dizzy did something to me? Why? I personally hate sushi. You think I've been attacked by fish?

I personally hate Dizzy because he was given the gift of being invited into the biggest band on the planet back in 1991, with no resume to deserve it, and has done absolutely nothing in the 20 years he's been in the band to prove that he was deserving of the gift Axl gave to him. He's talked shit about former members, which absolutely blows my fucking mind, since without them, he'd still be a homeless bum. He was born on third base and thinks he hit a triple. But this isn't the place for a discussion like this, so I'll just leave it at that.

  6. It just makes no sense to merge a concert thread with a thread about DJ...when the mods merge threads, it's because the threads are both talking about the same subject...this is retarded. It's got nothing to do with ego's.

BTW, funny how you said "back on topic". LOL. What topic? the house of blues show? the dj discussion?

edit: saw you were talking about the show. but still...you get my point.

  7. 80k at .25 per copy is only 20k in cash, I'm glad to see them up there but it's not like it's braking the bank seeming as the rest are regularly priced 175k at $15 = $2,625,000. Quite the difference. plus at .25 a CD what would GNR's cut be of that

I don't think how much money the band is making off the sales is what's important here...I think it's more rewarding just to know that people are still buying this album, almost 10 years after it came out, especially in a time where almost no one buys cd's anymore! Everyone downloads music, so the fact that they're selling albums is fuckin amazing I think.

  8. well, Slash has never been a walking billboard, like dj is. He takes every opportunity he gets to plug his website, hawk mini guitars, hats, etc. Slash is a much more 'real' rock star.

U nuts? he's a complete sellout just like the rest of the old band, Axl included. He "played" with Rihanna, Paulina Rubio, Fergie, made that stupid appearance at the Super Bowl... He's a mercenary. Definetely NOT a good example of "real". Oh well, whatever, still like his guitar playing and his contributions to Guns. :shrugs:

TBH, I don't mind that my favorite artists are sellouts, that's part of the game.

Your examples are not the same as what I'm talking about regarding DJ. I'm sure DJ would be doing 10 fold of the 'mercenary' work slash does if people wanted him as much as people want slash. How often do you hear slash promoting his website? or his clothing line? Sounding like a retard talking about his guitars, when he's a professional in one of the most famous rock n roll bands? Slash is a guitar freak, just like all the other awesome guitar players, unlike dj.

And I can't help but laugh when people call slash and other musicians 'sell outs' for playing with other artists...what do you want him to do, lock himself up for his whole life? He loves his craft and loves play with all kinds of people. When Axl sings with bruce springsteen, was he selling out? (i know it's not the same, but im just sayin..) People are so quick on the trigger to bash slash for being a "sell out", citing his performances with fergie and playing with rihanna. People go nuts when they see him playing at the super bowl. This message board is the only place in the universe where he gets bashed for it. You guys need to open your doors and get out in the real world. the world loves slash.

  9. Who cares how Ashba dresses? The man can play guitar and that's good enough for me.

Anddd, who gives a shit if he is promoting his clothing line during interviews? He's been our main soured of information about the band for a while now. At least he's willing to do a bunch of interviews.

    Don't bother. Haters gonna hate...

Ive never had a problem with what he wears, just how he is always promoting himself as the next big thing and got nothing to show for it.

Has anyone even heard his music other than his work in Sixx A.M.? He talks about Beautiful Creatures and shit but I doubt anyone on hear has heard it. Sixx A.M. was a Nikki Sixx project and no one ever mentions him when they review the album it's always about Nikki.

He really has nothing to show for his sense of self entitlement.

Black Death Vodka, anyone old enough to recall this?

They still have it in Portugal. My friend was there and bought a bunch to bring back with him.

  10. Say what you want about Robin Finck, his solos on Chinese Democracy were a hell of a lot better than anything Slash has come up with since Snakepit.

    true.

Can't say I agree. Slash's solo's on Contraband were much better than Robins on CD, IMO. Especially Slither, Fall to Pieces, You Got No Right, and Loving the Alien. Spectacle has a really cool, more fast paced rock solo, but kind of leaves you wanting more....

So don't say "true" like you're stating a fact or something. I can respect your opinion, sure. But it's your opinion, and one that not many people, especially outside of this board, share. But you are entitled to it.

  11. Maybe Axl stole it and is trying to get attention off himself? LOL :rofl-lol:

Gunsguy, please close coolranchdressings account, we have all established that it's a cupcake account. It would be unethical to not ban him after all the banning you and your fellow mods have done to far lesser cupcakes.

Come off your high horse. If Axl tweets a request help finding Beta's lost phone, is he trolling himself? Trolling all of you? Is that how pathetically anti-Axl this place has come? That anyone expressing concern over GnR management's lost telephone must be "trolling" you?

If anyone else started this same thread, would you still be all butt-hurt?

butt hurt? Why do you have my butt on your mind? Maybe you should change your name to warmranchdressing..

  13. Estranged, November Rain, Locomotive and Coma = No band will ever be able to write songs like these. I wouldn't like to call them 'songs', they're anthems to me.

Locomotive and Coma are probably my 2 favorite songs of UYI. Just so intense, with so many ups and downs, really making you feel the song...locomotive has some of the most awesome guitar work by slash, and the composition of the song is so awesome too...they were at their creative peak at that time, IMO.

  14. Good show, Axl's vocals sounded really good on a few songs, especially Shacklers..he sings the chorus a little different than he used to, it was really cool..." I don't believe there's a reason I DO-ONT...."(higher pitched). My friend and I were in the back of the GA section...it got a little rowdy a few times, with guys like, trying to mosh, or something..which was funny, considering we were about 80 feet from the stage...

I share the same feelings as the other guy in regards to DJ and his schticks/gimmicks...and all the casual fans do think he's a slash wannabe..just the way it is... :shrugs:

I got bored with dizzy's solo...( i hate dizzy anyway) and another brick in the wall...but they came right back and blew the doors down after the boring stuff. My friend was trying to explain a song to me that he thought was really cool, I couldn't figure out what it was...finally found out he was talkin about Sorry....I was like...really? lol. Cool. Didn't think you'd dig that one.

  15. 10 days notice is more than enough for a hometown gig of a band of GNR's status. Especially when that hometown has a population the size of LA.

According to who, you? Ok, well that settles that. Never mind the fact that it may not actually be true.

    Ali

    Ever the apologist.

Ali thinks Axl is without fault.

You are not allowed to say anything about Axl unless it is 100% worshipping him.

    What flew up your ass?

Nothing. I just think some of the Nutters are funny. No matter whatever happens, it is never Axl's fault. And if you say something that isn't worshipping Axl, they go on rants about what a hater or cupcake you are.

I prefer being able to have an honest conversation and talk about the band or a situation.....without worshipping Axl like be is a God, or bringing up the slash-v-Axl or new band vs old band crap in every topic.

That's what I can't stand about this board.
