  1. I don't know if I like the idea of a founding member of a band opening for a new cover version.

Particularly in a case such as this. It would feel weird, even if I'd like to see Loaded.

  2. He also says 'said' in at least some versions of Rosie. Check L'arc performance from last year. Maybe it's Bon's original lyric, I dont know.

Ok I just checked and the original Bon Scott lyrics are 'Wanna tell you a story/bout a woman I know/ah it come to lovin/ohh she steals the show'

Axl changes the lyrics sometimes to 'when it come to lovin/Said she steals the show' or something like that (see Rosie l'arc). So, I vote Whole Lotta Rosie is added to the list on a technicality.

Nice find! You deserve an A++.

  3. I wore this shirt:

    http://elsewhere/3armb8u

    to a party last weekend.

Someone randomly said: "So what's goin' on with that shirt? What does it mean?"

I said: "What are you talkin' about? It's Gn'R. GUNS N' ROSES!"

It led to a discussion about how she used to love the band back in the day. I told her Axl and the new band was coming to Chicago. She had no idea. Later she was trying to get a group together to go.

I'm not sure what the band can really do though to spread the word. You don't really see anyone else actively promoting a tour. If there's no album or single, they just tour.

  4. This isn't necessarily indicative of poor sales. I am not trying to be in denial or anything.

I go to Groupon every day. I've seen concerts from "hot" acts like Rihanna and I believe Jay Z.

If I'm not mistaken, Ticketmaster and Groupon partnered some time ago to bring concert tickets to the daily deal site.

  5. Good job, guys.

So far, here's what I gathered:

"Said, it don't really matter." Chinese Democracy

"Said, you took everything from me." Estranged

"Said, woman, take it slow." Patience

"Said, but you been the worst." You Ain't the First

"I said, you could be mine." You Could be Mine

"I said I don't know what I did, but I know I gotta move." Shotgun Blues

"Said, boy, where ya comin from?" You're Crazy

"Said, 'You ain't special, so who ya' foolin'?" Bad Obsession

  6. WTF?.... Lol

To answer your question, everything about Axl, from the setlist, to the occasional public freak out, to the disappearing act between tours, to the late arrival on stage.. is now predictable

    LA

Must agree. I must also add: Saying new music will be out but then never releasing it. Happened every year till 2008 when CD released. And it happened again with the FB new year's resolution. Business as usual.

  7. Said boy, where ya comin from? Where'd ya get that point of view? When I was younger, I KNEW A MOTHAFUCKER LIKE YOOOOUUUUUUU!!

    Nice. Forgot about that one!

Or "be my rubbermade, baby" instead of "be my rubber maid, baby."

It's spelled this way in the booklet.

Booklets are consistently wrong though. I used to get so pissed off about that.

Not saying I'm right (and the book is wrong) in the above instance. I guess I could be wrong. But wtf is "rubbermade," you know? "Rubber maid" is talkin about the bondage of that whole verse. But I found through the years that what's on the book isn't always what was sung or said.

"Said, 'You ain't special, so who ya' foolin'?" Bad Obsession

  8. It's "said" woman. Not sad. Listen to the Live Era version. Listen to the other songs I listed where Axl starts a line with "Said." He's known for it.

Google is ALWAYS wrong about lyrics. Everything is copied and pasted over from site to site.

    For example: "Anything Goes."

So many sites list the words as follows: Panties 'round your knees with your ass in debris." Haha. That doesn't even make sense.

Or "be my rubbermade, baby" instead of "be my rubber maid, baby."

Anyway, it's definitely "SAID, woman, take it slow."

  9. Did they omit something else in the setlist to add this song? Never been a huge fan of it.

I did see the two instances they played it recently that they seemed to be extended sets so I assume no other staple song was omitted.

  10. I noticed recently that Axl loves starting sentences in his songs with the word "Said."

Can we start a huge ass list?

"How could you say that I never needed you when you took everything? Said, you took everything from me." Estranged

"Said woman, take it slow ..." Patience

"Lots of others came before you, woman. Said, but you been the worst."

Is it a lazy way to add a syllable to make it fit with the music? Do other bands do this and I never noticed? Are my three examples the only ones in all of the songs?

This thread is no stranger than the one about Hogan. That is all.

  11. More opinions??none?? :(

I'm also curious about this. I can't remember exactly what I read, but I think it was to the effect that Izzy would turn in the songs he was working on (on tapes) but then he wouldn't really record, so maybe he just isn't on a lot of the songs although he had a big hand in actually writing said song. Someone verify?

  12. i dont see why dizzy would even be included in a reunion tour.....his contributions, other than playing bongos on WCTJ and his piano part in SOD (his nickname in my circle of GNR fan friends is actually 'Bongos on Jungle")....are non existent to me...and honestly if that's all you can contribute in your 20 years in the band...you are basically useless...Axl invited him into the band out of pity, and not wanting to piss off Axl for his act of kindness, he's undoubtedly been one of the biggest "Yes men" in the GN'R camp. He's as much of a hired hand in my opinion as any of the other current members. A reunion line up, like someone said earlier in the thread, would be Axl, Slash, Duff, Izzy (or Gilby) and Steven (or Matt). Anything other than that is not a true reunion IMO.

How the fuck has Dizzy remained in the band for so long?

  13. I would want reunion even if they didn't produce a new record.

I could finally show my gf, sister, coworkers etc. what all the fuss was about...

The thing is, would they be as good? The new band is perfectly capable of playing great music. The AfD lineup, they were always so fucked up on drugs. But they had a raw energy and they had great chemistry together. I think it was Slash who said the Ritz show from '88 wasn't anywhere near their best performance, yet we all look at like one of the definitive shows of that era simply because of that five group of guys and how they took over that FN stage warts and all.

I like Axl 'cause I like the music he writes and I LOVE the AfD era Gn'R. But Axl isn't gonna change. He still probably doesn't rehearse with his new band. It only seems to be them and then him. They're not all together.

All these years and he's still playing late shows. That right there is indicative of his attitude. He'll never change. They even went so far as to defend late stage times, to which I say: Why not just advertise a fucking midnight start on the ticket rather than making people wait two or more hours between the main event and the curtain jerker?

Oh, well. I suppose (to use a cliche), it's better to burn out than fade away, and that's exactly what "the world's most dangerous band" did. I'll still listen to Axl's Guns (if they ever put out new stuff), Duff's Loaded, Slash's work, etc. I still download all the Izzy records.
