Oh My God had distortion, a few lines in Perhaps did as well. But they were not unintelligible. Maybe the low quality of the leaks (from a rip standpoint, or perhaps intentional manipulation of the source) compounds the intended distortion to make it nearly impossible for most to actually hear what Axl is saying.

In other words, hopefully the CD/high res and high bit rate MP3 versions of the official versions can be comprehended.

Which part is unintelligible? People have made out most of the lyrics.

The leak is the final version, Axl absolutely would release a song with vocals that distorted, and GNR France posted pics of their vinyl days ago.

I agree. And I am not really sure why people are so certain that “it CAN’T be final mix” because of the purposely distorted vocals. That is how Axl wanted it to be. It isn’t an accident or “placeholder” vocals just because someone wishes it didn’t have the distortion.

I don’t see s lot of Sabbath influence, quite frankly. Not in The General, not in Monsters. Yes, technically everyone that plays hard rock or metal has, is some level, Sabbath influences, but I’d say the NIN influence is way more present. A lot industrial and numetal sounds on Monsters, that’s for sure. A lot more in common witj Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson and similar artists than to Black Sabbath.

The vocals on “Monsters” in the verses are very Ozzy-esque. I was playing it one day and my girlfriend listened for the first time, and unprompted, that’s what she said. “Axl sounds a little like Ozzy.”

I still don't understand this theory and how some people can still think that it's just one song since it was played live

“The General and Monsters” listed together. And the leak of what we assumed was the delayed vinyl. It’s just theorizing. Not much to understand. We’ll probably never know. If the vinyl arrives with just “The General,” that still doesn’t mean the original pressings didn’t have both songs. As always in GNR-land, plans changed.

well, if Slash can remember sharing women with Axl or anyone else at that time, with all the drugs and booze he had in his system, Axl can.

Just saying it’s not likely you’d remember every single person. And Slash might not be the greatest example you can give, since he’s another person who has said a lot of inconsistent things in the past, or accounted something that could not have been true.

yeah I think he remember almost everything unless he was too stoned to. Axl has an amazing memory, he memorizes hundred of funny jokes, can talk about events none of the other guys can remember, plus he apparently keeps a journal(s) where he notes everything.

maybe you remember that time where he was on the phone with Izzy and he began to tell him "yeah but at that precise date you told about..." Izzy was like "huh?" when listening to Axl turning pages of his journal...

so yeah I think this kind of thing, he can remember very well, with whom, when, and what happened.

Many people have described Axl’s uncanny ability to recollect old stories or moments, as he’s been described as a great storyteller. However, if he had a long run of one-night stands and booze in his heyday, I find it hard to believe he’d remember them all. Come on now. I can barely remember all of my sexual encounters, and I’m sure Axl has me beat by, oh, IDK, thousands.

  7. Yeah, right, Melissa missed a couple of shows last month as a show of “solidarity” for this woman, who filed the lawsuit two days ago. Some of you are out of your minds.

As per the suggestion that the defense will have an uphill battle … not really. We armchair lawyers have already poked numerous holes in her story. Inconsistencies galore. Not to mention her describing the encounter as consensual multiple times in the past.

The only thing that could really damn the defense would be if Riki came out and said, “Yeah, that happened exactly as she stated.” Short of this, she doesn’t seem to have much of a case. I guess her and her defense’s hope is that they’ll just want to settle quickly to bury the story.

@Blackstarhow many times Axl has been sued in his life? For any reason

Several. He even talked about here once, if I’m not mistaken. When you’re a celebrity with money, you’re gonna get sued by someone. Whether it’s for hitting a person in the face with a microphone, an alleged sexual encounter, a former bandmate for royalties, etc.

The top comment w/ over 6k likes on the "Axl Rose SA allegation" r/news Reddit thread was "I'd be surprised if he didn't have a sexual assault allegation!" The Reddit thread was filled with "And every 60 seconds a minute passes in Africa"-type comments.

This is why his past self is an elephant in the room and part of why I think Axl should/should have addressed his past publicly. Sure, us hardcore GnR fans know that Axl is in a better place mentally and is much kinder and whatnot. But your average Joe still has the "asshole Axl" from the 80s/90s in their head when they think of him.

It wouldn’t change people’s perceptions if Axl came out and said he was a hothead in the ‘80s. There is nothing to gain from that. Conversely, it could be construed as an admission of guilt in this or any other lawsuit that comes out of the woodwork.

How do we know Axl hasn’t privately apologized to anyone he’s wronged in the past? We’ll never know. He doesn’t need to be accountable to the public for things he may or may not have done to specific individuals.

Y'all come up with an "ism" term to describe anything you disagree with as if its some kind of ideology. "The world was different" is a statement so vague as to be meaningless. Did the concepts of right and wrong not exist then? Nobody knew rape was bad in 1989?

The "pastism" ideology you're pushing is the idea that we cannot gain wisdom and view the past through our wiser lens of the present. Your comment is inherently contradicting itself.

I wasn’t talking about sexual assault (or any violent crime for that matter). I was talking about Duff. And “we” wouldn’t have had to come up with a term to describe xennials crying about what a celebrity or someone said 30 years ago if that crying wasn’t so rampant and insufferable today.

As per your commentary on “pastism,” of course we gain wisdom and can view the past with a wiser lens. That’s the entire point! We should be able to do so with the understanding that you also shouldn’t condemn people too harshly for views they held or something that said three decades ago. Why are people going through a young pro athlete’s Twitter history to find something inflammatory he said 12 years ago when he was 14 years old? What kind of shit did you say on the playground in 1992 when you were 14?

I truly do not want to sound mean, but it is so annoying that men only want to be a champion of women's rights after they have daughters and it affects them personally. I don't think Duff was or is a bad dude by any means, he is probably the least scummy one out of the band. But why is it a man's perspective only changes so much after he has daughters? Why couldn't he just feel that way to begin with? I'm saying that for men in general

Are people not allowed to gain perspective as they get older and wiser? Are they not allowed to change without it being deemed “fake”? I’m so tired of presentism exhibited by so many people today. It’s fuckin’ ridiculous. The world was different 20 years back, 30 years back, 40 years back.

  11. This delay between the original vinyl release date and the actual release has been long enough now where I’m no longer excited for “The General” and “Monsters” to hit Spotify. Obviously that’s due to the leaks. I’ve listened so many times and love the songs. They just no longer feel “new.” Why this band keeps fucking up I have no idea. It’s been 15 years since I heard an officially-released GNR song that hasn’t leaked prior. It isn’t difficult. The tour was ending anyhow.

  12. IDK why people are shitting on vinyls. Even from just a hobby/collection standpoint. Only vinyls I have are Appetite, Illusions, Chinese Democracy, Hard Skool, then all the ones in the Locked and Loaded box set. I enjoy having them. It takes me back to the days when albums were tangible. Where the artwork was thoughtful. I don’t even have a record player at the moment.

Getting back on topic, I guess we’re at the point we all assume “The General” won’t drop on Apple and Spotify till we’re at the December release date? Bummer. I keep looking for it every Friday.

  13. I like the “The General” we heard on the leak. I like the distorted vocals in his high-clean voice too. But … I gotta say after hearing it live, good lord. The last part where he goes rasp makes me wish at least one chorus in the studio song went balls out rasp, no distortion. I actually think it would add to the song to take all the filters off so to speak, and just come in with vicious “Monsters” bridge style rasp.
