I wouldn't be so sure about them releasing Perhaps or The General in America IF the first show comes and they haven't played them, cause after that... is it gonna be the same? Are we gonna say, oh you know, clearly they are waiting to get to LA to release it, then Vegas or whatever, then, nothing, like last year, in my opinion for each date that passes and they don't play it, stuff gets uglier and uglier.

Now compared to last year, Duff said that news were about to drop, and we have the studio pic and the setlist. But with each concert that comes and goes without anything, aren't we closer to confirmation that maybe it was cancelled?. (Duff said "this week") They are not even soundchecking it anymore.

People are assuming that the plan is to release 2 songs every 2 years to boost ticket sales, but as of now, that was only a one-off move.

Only a massive leak is gonna save us. No signs of it happening, but I'll admit that i'd be happy to pay top dollar for that.

To be fair. When Absurd and Hardskool debuted it wasn’t the start of the NA tour. So it’s entirely possible they might not do it at the first NA.

But it’s possible they could. There’s a 7 day gap between legs. Last show is on a Saturday. First show of NA is on a Saturday. Could drop during that week. Or the Friday before the last European show. Honestly it’s just hard to tell because there’s no rhyme or reason to their actions.

I’d personally release Perhaps July 21st. Play it at the last show. Then on August 4th release The General. Strike again while the irons hot. Push any more ticket sales they can get off for people and call it good.

That's one of the mysteries I'd like an answer to. It's not certain that it was used, although there are definitely similarities between the two tracks (the band was Saivu). I just can't picture Axl allowing Richard to give a song to another band.

It really is strange. I couldn’t see Axl allowing it either. Especially since it’s a song he didn’t even write since it existed prior to Richard joining.

It could be worse, guys. Imagine if Eye on You and Nothing had leaked instead of TWAT and Prostitute. lol

I believe Nothing is a rough demo idea. I personally believe it’s been fleshed out more in the middle section where there’s the scratch vocals.

Indeed. Back in 2002, Axl said this on the gnronline interview with Del:

There are a lot of new songs that were just done in the last year that we feel that ‘okay, well that bumps a lot of stuff off the previous list but it's time to stop that now and wrap up the baby.

I think it shouldn't be presumed that "a lot of new songs" from 2001 to 2002 are just Scraped, Shacklers and TIL.

And of course, after the failed NA Tour in late 2002, the band probably came back to studio to do whatever work Axl needed. But most of the instrumental work was already for CD was already done in 2000, sans some overdubs in songs like Madagascar, IRS and Prostitute, along with full work on "new ones" like Better, Shacklers etc.

Exactly. Especially considering Axl didn’t originally want to put This I Love on the record. So we can guarantee that wasn’t a song that bumped anything. Originally Chinese Democracy probably had: Better, There Was A Time, Street of Dreams, If The World, Chinese Democracy, IRS and Madagascar. The rest were probably determined because of leaks. At least to a certain extent

People should keep in mind that the Village sessions were just a screenshot of that time. Most of the work there is pre-Bucket, but it doesn't have This I Love or even Oh My God (in any kind of new mix). The other part post-Bucket has very early demos of some songs, one of them (Shacklers) in a proto-form.

It's very possible that the same sessions (from 2002/03) that had Scraped, maybe TIL and a later version of Shacklers also had The General, which implies to me that are several other tracks that we may not know the titles. Axl recorded vocals by that time or in 2004/05. After Universal stopped the funding, I think Axl had a lot of work at his home studio too, which is undocumented.

Then, he (and Caram) prioritized work on Shacklers, Scraped, TIL and Better over other more structured instrumental tracks like Atlas, Quicksong, Perhaps, Hardskool, Silkworms/Absurd. Why? We don't know, but seems like they shuffled the CD tracklist a bit. Still, if he worked on all this (including The General), why would anyone think he ONLY have those 1999/00 semi-finished tracks on his basket, with no additional work in any of the instrumentals and not a single new track from Buckethead or even the rest of the band after that?

Also, I believe the leaks influenced CD tracklist and are still influencing the later releases of Absurd, Hard Skool and (maybe) Perhaps.

Occam's Razor: "the simplest explanation is preferable to one that is more complex". To me, the skepticism about the lack of releases seems to overshadow the fact that everyone from the band, mgmt and press stated that there were a lot of recording during all those years.

I agree 100% here. There’s no doubt in my mind there’s more that’s yet to be heard. Instrumentals, there’s probably hundreds. Scratch vocals demos like State of Grace and Quick Song. Basically a 2 year period of time documented. Perhaps at the time he deemed a lot done in his mind so they got back burnered. I firmly believe 2002-2005 has many demos. No doubt the antiquiet leaks dictated the track list. Probably said the album needs all the leaked tracks plus whatever else to flesh it out more. So they added Shacklers, Scraped, Sorry, and This I Love.

I definitely believe there’s more than 15+ completed left.

    Here's an LP

    ...

    1) As It Began

    2) Devious Bastard

    3) Atlas Shrugged

    4) Absurd

    5) Hard Skool

    6) Down By The Ocean

    7) Seven

    8) Soul Monster

    9) Perhaps

    10) Idea Of March

    11) The General

The ones we know for sure or are can be fairly confident have vocals in some state if not finished for the time...Nobody gets a famous composer such as Beltrami in to do massive orchestration without having an actual proper tune structure in place...

Wasn’t As It Began used as part of another bands song that Richard worked with?

But we’d also have Thyme, Tonto, and Nothin. I think we could have a full LP easily

Hmmm, I missed that. Was there any audio of it or was it word of mouth?

It was a vague comment. I forgot which show it was. But someone said they thought they could hear the intro piece. But there was planes flying overhead. I believe another person who attended confirmed it. No audio. And the original person said they thought they did but wasn’t 100%

This band is such bs sometimes

They really are. Sometimes it almost seems like they think to themselves “Oh the fans know too much. Lock it down!” I really do believe to an extent the leaks have pushed their decisions a lot. It’s like when we know too much they shut it down. Then when there’s nothing left to know they just say “what the hell, let it ride”. It almost feels something has to leak again to force their hand.

I heard it contains a special moment where @Fernando listens to The General on his headphones while flipping off the camera for its entire duration.

So we will finally be able to get an estimate on the tracks length?

Then we can have the CSI team do the math on how much time would be left on a CD and finally put to bed the discussion on how many tracks will be on CD2. Thank god for Fernando and how he continues to giveth back to the community!

Interesting... I just tried searching some other titles in this format (Atlas, Soul Monster, etc.) and the only ones that brought up GNR were Perhaps & The General

It would be wild if The General does in fact get released.. without a prior version leaking before. I know a handful of songs didn’t “leak” off Chinese Democracy. But this would be the first release in “forever” that is essentially unheard. Kind of crazy if the signs are being read right.

    Why soul monster?

    I hope you're right

If we go by what Axl said in the chats years ago we know he recorded vocals for it. If it wasn’t for the Locker leaks there would have only been 5 songs we knew for sure had vocals. Soul Monster one of them. So it has to mean something to Axl. So I think it’s possible that could be one. Slash also said some of the songs were more complex. Based off the sound check of perhaps we know that’s not it

  11. If I had to guess. I’d say the songs are:

    Hard Skool

    Absurd

    Perhaps

    The General

    Atlas Shrugged

    Soul Monster

Any other Chinese Democracy material I think will come out someday untouched from its former state as a sorta bonus deluxe version. Assuming we can take Slash at his word and it isn’t misdirection or changed plans.
