  1. Doesnt really matter how many old GNR songs Axl plays vs. how many Slash plays, the point is that Axl is the one who made grandiose gestures to differentiate himself from old GNR, from Slash, from AFD, etc etc, yet to this day he continues to play those songs. That's being a bullshitter, a hypocrite.

  2. Axl is apparently out of touch. I dont know what evidence he has that obsessing over material and hoarding shit is a good idea, especially for somebody who has severely high standards and OCD tendencies.

I'm as hardcore Axl/GNR-lover as you'll get. I cheered through 2010 because he at least sounded good doing the nostalgia thing. Then he sounded like SHIT all through '11-'12 and now not only is he still playing the nostalgia set but he's clearly preserving his voice, imo. I know he can do better than this and it's ridiculous seeing this same shit for yet another leg.

  3. My opinion is Axl was disappointed after a strong '09-'10 to come back to the US and not have any dates set up, so he kinda got depressed and said fuck it (there are quotes to this point, I cant remember the source). Thus, you have 2011 and 2012, where he was not only weak but listless and unfocused. I predict - and from Perth I think I might be right - that he is in better shape, more focused, and will put on good shows; however, you're not gonna see 2010-level voice because he is saving it, probably for a record. I truly believe he knows he can turn it on when he wants. His voice is very important and most people who go to gigs are there to have a good time, take a trip down memory lane, and GNR is merely capitalizing on this. Axl already proved he can still ROCK it live in 2010 and so he has nothing to prove and everything to lose by going 110% live again, as he did for much of '10.

  4. Yea I agree what he did was out of line (Corey was, that is). It goes to show why Axl is so polarizing. He doesnt go on when or how everybody thinks he should, and in turn they do really fucked-up mean things like Corey did. Who's really in the wrong? Axl's persona brings this shit out in people. I relate to it because I'm the same way. Red head also.

  5. lol thanks for the vid. Hilarious. Thoughts:

People develop their opinion about somebody mostly based on how they made them feel. Why does Axl's artistic integrity have to be based on how timely he - a rock star - hops on stage for your entertainment?

Next, Axl is a bit of a douche.

Third, Corey is a bonehead rock fan who just doesnt know much else. Whatever.

  6. One of the very sources of brilliance for Axl is also his Achilles' heel: His exceptionalism.

This is a good thing in some ways because his exceptionalism allows for flashes of brilliance, super-high standards and so forth.

BUT it is also a detriment, because he apparently can NOT recognize that there is such a thing as TOO MUCH. Too much tinkering, too much power, too much taking-for-granted. I like CD a lot , but its Frankenstenian. You cant make good music that way.

Case in point: He told Brain to play Josh's parts note for note. But add his own "feel." How the hell is that possible? I STILL do NOT understand that.
