So far, the crowd is overwhelmingly fans. Like serious fans.

I'm about 60 blocks away.
One last beer, then headed up.

Mate, that's fucking awesome. Makes up for that show I reckon
You could say that!
i was on the rail in Philly last summer. Going again this October. This was a pleasant surprise for tonight (putting it extremely lightly- trying not to jump out of my skin right now)

Forgive me if I'm mistaken but aren't you one of the ones who said they won tickets to the Apollo?
Indeed. It's like Christmas morning right now. Hopping on a train in about 6 hours.

Just got my seat assignments. It's starting to feel real.

I was there. Section immediately to the left of that camera oddly enough. One of the most disappointing nights ever. Was my first chance to see any version of the band.

I can't seem to post pics from my phone for whatever reason, but for those who were questioning it yesterday, The Kills themselves confirmed on twitter they'll be opening the show at 9pm.

NO.
People have hears : they know Izzy can't play the guitar like Fortus. He just CAN'T. Izzy is not skilled enough. The guy is limited.
Izzy is Izzy and Fortus is Fortus. Richard has noting to prove to anyone. He is one of the (very) best guitar player in the world and he's been for more than 15 years.
Millions of people have hears and eyes. Millions of people have seen and heard Fortus on this NITL tour and nobody miss Izzy. Look at the stadiums all over the world? they are packed! With Fortus and without Izzy.
Truth is the truth. That's it.
You completely missed the point. I'm saying that a large portion of the stadium crowds aren't interested in who the rhythm guitarist is. They don't know who izzy or Richard are.

Oh, well in that case I guess it's settled.

I completely agree and I have tix to the StL show. Either way have fun tomorrow and enjoy it. Would love to see these guys in such a small venue.
Thanks man. That's exactly how I'm viewing it. There's no feasible reason on this planet I should be one of 1500 lucky ass people that get to be in the Apollo tomorrow, but for some reason I am. I don't know if I'll be in the first or last row or somewhere in between. I don't know what songs they'll play or who will play them. I'm hopeful for some surprises, but totally good with whatever.

I've heard the argument that they can't reunite with all 5 because then the audiences for the upcoming NA leg will revolt if they don't get the same. That's BS. Most of those huge stadiums are casual fans (who probably think Fortus is Izzy).
I'll be there tomorrow. I really hope they do this right. But whatever they do, I won't leave disappointed, because I'm not expecting more than their normal set. Maybe just hoping.

Realistic, though.
I think your best case scenario might be the most realistic expectation. But I certainly think we can believe there's at least a chance of more.

I have pretty low expectations for this... Best case scenario - regular NITL show with Axl sounding good. What I fear will happen - regular NITL show with Axl sounding like he did in Europe.
wow, those are some low expectations.

I think everyone knows they will all perform. The question is whether there are guest appearances or a reunion of the original 5 mixed into the show in some capacity.

I'm setting myself up to have terrible seats and hopefully get surprised. But I assume people like Eddie Trunk and actual celebrities will get first priority on seats. Would be cool if real fans are right up front though.
That's the approach I'm taking as well. Great news is, the theater is really small and there really are no "bad" seats. Obviously, closer is always better. Ultimately I'm happy and grateful to be there.

Shame they won't then, ay ?
Didn't say I thought they would. There's certainly a chance though. Stevens already played multiple times this tour. Izzy has played with Axl in recent years. A 30th anniversary show to commemorate AFD...why would it be that unreasonable?

So you'd be happy knowing they toured most of the world and then only reformed the 5 for a night that barely anyone gets to see live?
Short answer: yes.
Whatever the reasons, they couldn't/wouldn't do it for the long tour. If they can put it aside for one night, that would be amazing.
-
Same thread could've been written about Axl, Slash, and Duff sharing the same stage again just a couple years ago. If the tour ends and they all go their separate ways, then I'll believe you're right. Until then, it's not unreasonable to think there's a possibility of new music. Axl said so himself

Did you guys get hard tickets, Tyler? What do they look like?
FYI great job on the show! You guys deserve it!
Curious about this also. Did they come with seat assignments? I pick up my tickets day of, and I'm not sure what to expect.

Could the fact that they have used the cross with the 5 original members mean a Appetite set with the original 5?
Who knows. They've been selling merchandise throughout this entire tour with the same original artwork, so it doesn't necessarily mean anything.
My question is this- who paid for the advertising? If Sirius put it up, I think it means nothing. If GNR put it up, it likely means something out of the ordinary is in store for Thursday night. While they didn't do a great job with promoting through interviews, etc., they did a really big billboard, bus, etc. campaign prior to launching the NITL tour.

Since it relates to the Apollo show...
From twitter, outside the venue:
Edit: I tried attaching another photo from twitter of a larger #Appetite30th banner in Times Square. Not sure why it won't attach but whatever. There's one in Times Square.

If I were you guys I'd stop getting your hopes up for anything besides the standard show in a small, historic venue.
Maaaaaaaaaaaybe they do full, sequential Appetite, but more than likely it'll be the same show.
i don't think anyone is getting their hopes up beyond realistic expectations. I'm going and couldn't be more excited. I am expecting a condensed version of the normal set list. Fine by me.
that said, I don't think it's ludicrous to at least wonder if there are some surprises in store. Guest appearances, whether they be other musicians or former bandmates. Something special for AFD, whether that be additional tracks or the album in sequence. This is not a run of the mill show. but if I leave there and just get a 2 hour version of the 3 hour show, I'll still leave knowing I just saw my favorite band, mostly reunited in a show that I probably had no business getting into.

They are getting a ton in advertisements, that will boost ticket sales in the states, I think the band knew they wanted to do a AFD show and having already done something cool on the west coast it seemed natural to move the celebration to the east.
But again the advertisement on xm has been great. There are still people who just found out Slash is back so even though the show seems pointless they are getting a sponsor and cheap advertisement.
Im sure they were well advised on this
No question. I had 4 tickets to Hershey I needed to sell. Been listed for 2 months. A pair sold the first day the Sirius channel launched. The second pair sold yesterday. Could be a coincidence, but I'll take it either way.

i was told GNR 10:00, but they are contractually obligated to go on by 10:30. Sirius expects they might be even later.
