Well, I dunno, Chinese Democracy was (is?) what I would call a long term plan . I didn't say that they should have been writing - although they have both written and even recorded while on the road for UYI and Spaghetti - but Slash said they havent had time to discuss new music. We've known since the China Exchange that theres been some level of discussion about new music. I just said that I dont believe when Slash says they havent had time to discuss it. They've have more time then almost any band on tour.

Already his words are getting twisted. He said they have discussed it. They haven't had time to go into a studio and actually do it basically.

In fact both Slash and Axl have both said new music was discussed at different points.

People expect them to hold the same type of habits from decades ago. This is a band that had many obstacles to overcome. I'd like to say the long touring was a great way to get the bond going again and kind of test out the waters.

They all likely went into this not knowing the outcome and how they would mesh after all these years. As Slash said they originally only planned a handful of shows but it seems things went well as that turned into a multi year tour.

What others need to realize as well is they do need a break. Sure Slash may not get a long one because he had prior business(album and your for SMKC) to attend to.

They have families and a life as well. I think new music will definitely come.

I do think Slash should avoid interviewers like this one in the future though.

How many people will think Slash actually talked about or said some of the things written in this article/interview?

It's definitely real, it's on the website of The (London) Times.

What makes you say that it doesn't sound like Slash?

    I'm curious too.

I will say the interview piece didn't flow well because you had to guess at questions asked as the writer/interviewer just filled in a bunch of his own information gathered with some answers from Slash.

Some of the things mentioned were likely not discussed but thrown in the write up for a sort of background.

I don't think it was a good interview for those reasons.

For example the whole Slash citing Axl's lateness was likely not done by Slash in this interview but taken from one years ago and made to look like Slash said it here. The true question asked isn't included per se. Most of the interview flows like this.

These types of interviews are why bands don't do interviews. It could make it seem something was brought up that really wasn't.

He did another interview for the next issue of Classic Rock and he talks more about new music:

    https://www.loudersound.com/news/slash-everyone-would-like-to-make-a-new-guns-n-roses-album

“I think everybody thinks it’s a good idea, and everybody would like to do it. There’s no shortage of ideas from everybody involved, but we’ve been so busy on the road there hasn’t really been time to go in and sit down and go, ‘Okay, we’re going to make a record.’”

EDIT: I updated the the title of the thread and added this interview to the OP.

From reading this second interview it seems he's saying that nothing is officially announced yet as they haven't gotten a chance to get into the studio and record. They've all talked about it and want to do it but the tour has been top priority right now.

I'm not getting vibes that it won't happen just that they haven't began recording yet.

Thanks Bossy for a great insight in US Law! Good to know! We don't much concentrate outside-European laws, so thanks for correcting my assumptions.

A bit off-topic but YES it's supereasy to get waived in Europe for Australian citizen. He has probably filled out a few forms and that's it - ready to tour. Some eastern europe countries might be a problem, but the mainland, Scandinavia, UK etc is fairly easy to get waived, it's a few months job. :)

I wondered about the UK. Thanks for the insight on that.

I saw in one interview he had Canada and Japan listed as well as the US but the latest one he only mentioned US.

I wonder if Japan is gonna let him in or not.

I guess we will see what happens when more details come out.

Yeah, uhm, I don't think anyone has expressed such a desire. It is more about pointing out that people are trolls just hanging out on a forum for band they lost interest in years ago to post negative posts for the shits and giggles, and not arguing for their removal. Like a spade is a spade, you know? Personally, I would hate it if Diesel left, because he is usually quite entertaining in the non-GN'R sections, both funny and knowledgeable and I try to learn better English from him. Here, in the GN'R section, he is more of a broken record that rarely contributes anything but negative noise.

Come think of it, I don't think there is ANYONE on this forum that I think doesn't deserve to be here. And that's a credit to the admins and mods; they have managed to create the best version of mygnrforum that has ever been.

The problem with the fan base (which goes beyond this forum) is all the drama we generate :D No wonder the band shies away from us. Just take the current sad situation with YT takedown. We overreact. And then the mood of the forum takes a turn for the worse (NOT saying it isn't sad, just that we take it a bit too far). Rarely do we in a correlative sense react as well when positive things happens, or if we do it is shortlived, while grudges and disappointed lingers as if it is the default state. We are MUCH more likely to complain than to cheer. Just look at the cold fact: Slashs and Duff is back in the band, a scenario that only existed in the wet dreams of many fans. They played Slither. They played SOYL. Slash recently said the whole band is thinking about releasing new music. And where is the people going apeshit about this? They are here, then they are drowned out in negativity. The noise static cancels the signals. Where are people posting thread after thread of celebration? Hell, GN'R in 2018 are active with Axl, Slash and Duff and consider making new music? Am I the only one who are able to see this in any historic perspective? We tend to harp on the negatives. Again, NOT saying the negatives are negligible or shouldn't be part of our discourse -- they are many and serious enough. Just that things aren't in relation to each other. We complain, complain, complain. And we do tend to take ourselves way too seriously, as in "why don't the band listen more to us? why don't the band respond to our complaints?" when fact is that we are pretty much negligible as consumer demographics. Answer is: they prefer not to deal with us. They consider us naive, entitled and negative, and sorry to say it, but we don't really matter to them anyway. We can be safely ignored. 99 % of all income to the band comes from casual fans, not from us. And I AM sorry to say it, because I would very much prefer GN'R to be the kind of band that takes special care of any diehard fans, but obviously they aren't and partly, I think, we have ourselves to blame (and that last sentence will likely trigger some response so as Del said: let the flames begin).

You hit so many points not talking about Diesel here either but the rest of your post.

I say it all the time. Why would they do interviews? No matter what they say its turned negative by many.

Axl and Slash have both mentioned talking about or the possibility of new music at some point. Many took that as its Axl's fault there's no new music.

    Its mind boggling sometimes.

Just like Slash doing the album and tour with MKC. He started and planned that before GnR stuff and he himself said that during GnR they communicate and worked on stuff. He always planned to finish it. That got turned into Axl must not want to do anything or Slash would be done with MKC.

Years ago Axl came on this forum even and half of the questions he asked fans went ignored.

It's not to point out or single anyone out but you make some good points.

As fans we do have ourselves to blame we have put up roadblocks of communication.

With Canada it's easy to get the criminal record -policy denied by submitting an application that proves that you've been rehabilitating yourself after the crime, usually meaning a proof of psychotherapy. It's harder for Phil to get into the USA, but it is still possible with a waiver, which includes an interview with the person applying for visa with consular people. The meaning of the hearing is to prove that the criminal, in this case Phil, is rehabilitated and he is eligible to get a USA visa. And just to clarify: "permanently ineligible to enter USA" doesn't mean that it couldn't be waived - only in cases where you've been deported from USA it is almost impossible to get back in without presidents approval.

These rules doesn't apply only to "superstars", but it definitely comes easier with a top notch lawyer involved.

Just to get an insight that it's not "impossible" for AC/DC to tour USA with Phil.

    Greetings,
    European Law Student

Greetings from a former Law Student in the US.

Now you are right in certain situations a waiver can work. In cases of certain crimes or crimes committed many years ago.

Certain convictions however and especially within the same decade are likely to be denied. Phil's  is one of them.

I'm sure Phil has already tried this or spoken to lawyers about it as he said last year US was a country he can't enter. He has said it several times.

Sure a great lawyer could possibly have a small chance to get a different result but it sets a precedent which other criminals can use to gain entry of the same crime.

He's not the first celebrity charged with a crime and denied entrance. If he waits until a 10 year period of good rehabilitation has passed he may have better luck and that's a may.

There are certain crimes they may overlook due to years passed circumstances rehabilitation etc crimes involving murder rape certain drugs isn't one of them.

A drug conviction can get a 10 year ban of entry. Selling drugs can get a no entry for example.

I'm going to take it that Phil knows where he can and can't go and as of his last statement US is one of them.

Europe he seems to have more freedom as he stated he can tour Europe.

    57 minutes ago, HyperFuzzFunnyCar said:

He wasn't able to prove that he had a good enough reason to enter said countries. At the time, the judge specifically referred to AC/DC's statement that the tour would happen with or without Phil's involvement. If AC/DC put it in writing that Phil is their drummer, he will be cleared to enter any place that would benefit from a large amount of money from a hugely successful touring band.

    https://www.rollingstone.com/music/music-features/phil-rudd-talks-crock-of-sh-t-arrest-hopes-to-return-to-ac-dc-43951/

" A New Zealand court dismissed Phil Rudd’s appeal October 5th, ruling that the drummer must serve out the rest of his house arrest. Rudd’s lawyers argued that the sentence was harmful to his music career as it prevented the drummer from reuniting with AC/DC. However, the judge rejected that argument, saying in a statement that there was no evidence to support that Rudd’s AC/DC band mates even wanted him back, New Zealand’s 3 News reports."

You're quoting when his lawyer tried to dismiss the house arrest so he could leave his home and town. They are two different things.

A judge still can't tell another Country if a convicted criminal can enter.

His attorneys tried to get a dismissal of charges as well so he wouldn't be seen as a criminal by Countries

Either way his house arrest has long been served and according to his own statement he can't enter the US.

Us wouldn't be a country that profits from bands nor would they need to.

It's not to say he has no chance in hell to get in the US but his chances are slim

Again for those failing to understand according to Phil himself during Axl/DC he can't enter the US. I assume since he mentioned petetionting European countries and or being allowed to enter them he has already explored the route.

He said he doesn't know what Angus wants to do but he is limited as he can't travel to the US but can Europe.

That means he has permission in Europe and not the US.

Look @BOSSY78, you can believe what you want. AC/DC is making a new album with Brian Johnson. Period.

AXL/DC is done unless they need him for touring and Axl is willing to do it.

I'm not sure why you tagged me in your comment as my last few posts have been about Phil not Brian.

I don't see how AC/DC is going to tour US with him.

AC/DC is his main source of income, so if he's allowed to walk a free man yet denied touring because of charges, he's being denied making a living wich is unjust no matter the charge. Any good lawer should be able to solve this. If all else fails, lay down citizenship and adopt another, problem solved.

So again your not understanding here. He isn't being prohibited from earning a living. He is free to travel to any Country that will allow criminals in. Per his own words last year he can't travel to the US and is limited to some European Countries.

If Countries broke rules for someone who is famous now that wouldn't be fair would it? A judge or court can't force a Country to accept a criminal in their Country. He plead guilty to his charges.

He tells the The Bay Of Plenty Times: “It is up to Angus Young, what he wants to do. I am limited to where I can go.

But with Malcolm Young retired due to dementia, and frontman Brian Johnson’s hearing issues resulting in him being replaced by Axl Rose, Rudd is unsure of what the future holds. And while he can’t travel to the US because of his conviction, he says he can still play shows in Europe.

This is just one piece from an interview he did. There are others where he lists US along with other Countries he can't enter due to his conviction.

He's not the first artist that dealt with this and went be the last.

US and other countries don't allow dual citizenship you can't even become one or get a green card with the conviction he has let alone enter.

His lawyer tried to get a dismissal of charges for this reason and of course as should be he was denied. It would set a bad precedence and cause uproar if a court did due to his celebrity status.

That's fake, the metadata/EXIF of the original photo shows that it was indeed taken in August 6th. It's a fact.

People saying other stuff is lying to themselves that Axl is still doing an album with AC/DC.

I believe it was recent honestly but metadata can be incorrect if the person input it and say changed the date. Cameras allow the user to input data time etc.

Funny story my mom never fixed her settings and we used to laugh as her photo dates were off by years. We finally changed her settings after getting tired of pinpointing the real date down. Of course this was years ago.

Metadata is also more accurate if GPS is on as date and time can be automatically configured with the GPS and or certain settings.

A person can certainly input a different date and time on their camera.

Again I don't believe that's the case here though.

  10. Another thing no one is considering is that they may be making an album with Brian Johnson. Angus hasn't been spotted as far as I'm aware.

Brian has said not long ago he still intends to make new music just likely can't tour it.

So why isn't is plausible that he is doing an album and some of the AC/DC guys will be on it? Other people have done just that.

Understand there are stipulations on Phil with his visa but if ACDC management can get a court order and put Phil on some sort of a good behaviour bond to get his visa approved,  the ACDC train is on tour again. With the amount of money on a tour this band makes and how much that tour may inject into the economy of those countries that may be part of any tour date, do you think getting Phils visa approved is going to be a difficult process?

Phil and his lawyers tried according to Phil and the judge denied a discharge of conviction. They told the judge it would limit his touring especially in the US and Japan and he got denied.

This was all in his interview during the Axl/DC thing.

A judge can't tell another Country to bend their rules for someone. A dismissal would have to take place of the charges or the Country would have to agree to bend the rules for him. Some may be willing as he said he could tour in Europe due to the entry requirements being more lax or prior agreements he has petitioned already.

US and other Countries are very strict on those type of convictions.

It would mainly be other Countries laws limiting his travel.

This is exactly what I`ve meant too. What happening in Vancouver now is not the beginning of a new album and a 2 year long world tour.

Maybe but just maybe a few last concerts here and there with Brian.

Brian deserves to sing a few last shows (if he want it) and his fans deserves to see him one last time.

Yep. I agree. I wouldn't be surprised to see an album that features both even who knows.

I can't see Brian doing many shows but maybe I'm wrong.

Haha...I stay here because hearing about Myles and SMKC gave me headaches...and here we are talking about them.....;)

I tend to agree...if Axl would have been open to record new GNR music, Slash in a heartbeat would have SMKC at a side.

Speaking again about AC/DC.....it looks like the hearing aid helps Brian a lot, I hope he can tour without exposing himself too much.

Last I heard they said it helped but not in a large stadium capacity. I guess time will tell.

As far as Axl agreeing to music he said himself he has shown/played some things for them and said they seem to be getting along.

It doesn't matter how many times he basically has said he wants to record or things close to that nature because someone will always come along and blame him and say he doesn't want to.

It must be all Axl's fault that Slash already started an album and made plans possibly signed contracts even with another band prior to this reunion. It must also be his fault that from day 1 MKC were communicating with Slash and collaborating on the album the whole time from the get go.

It must be Axl's fault they even came out supporting Slash at GnR shows.

It must be Axl's fault Slash said he planned to do this album and worked on it before and during GnR and how hard he and the guys worked over the years prior to Guns to put this all together.

Slash did have them on the side for several years as he toured with GnR.

He is now going to do what he planned and worked on prior to and during GnR.

Why do interviews when people just take what is said and twist and set blame where they have no business or knowledge?

All we have is what was said.

I was hoping to get some Axl/DC while Slash was doing his thing.

  14. Axl and Angus aren't over by a long shot. I respect Angus for bringing in Phil and Brian but as I said above can they tour?

Will they risk Brian's hearing that way? Would Phil's court stipulations prevent travel?

All on the next episode of Axl does DC

  15. 7 hours ago, Gordon Comstock said:

GNR and AC/DC are both much, much bigger beasts than Slash's solo band. I really don't think he'd be going to do his album and tour with Myles unless he knew Axl was gonna be busy for the next couple years as well. And I don't believe for one second that he'd prefer to do his own album and tour over a new GNR album and tour, so I wouldn't say Slash is the one delaying a GNR album, if that's what you mean.

My point is it's a well known fact and even said by Slash himself this Album was already in the works before the reunion.

It doesn't matter which band is bigger. How would his bandmates and others feel if Slash turned his back on them.

Slash has talked about how hard they worked and he worked to get this band and all this going.

Those guys put the album on hold and waited several years for him to be able to do GnR and finish what they started. Was Slash supposed to just give them all the middle finger? How respectful would that be?

As fans we have to understand that many of the members have moved on in the decades and formed loyalties to people. GnR may be bigger but I feel they want to do both.

Axl has kept certain members like Fortus who has been there for a long time and Ferrer around.  Loyalty goes both ways you see.

Slash is honoring his loyalty to his band as well as he should.

He can do both and will.

People have this grand idea that because GnR is bigger that Slash should just say f**k you to the whole SMKC thing. If he can do both why shouldn't he? Those guys have waited a couple years now for this album. Would it be right for him to say sorry guys GnR is bigger? Why would he throw his hard work away? As fans we need to understand that.

Slash said he intended to come back and do the album and tour whenever he could and he is.

Who cares if it's the perfect time for Axl to now do AC/DC as Slash is fulfilling his prior obligations?

They likely decide that with Slash needing to finish his album and tour it Axl and others would have time to pursue things they may want as well.

My post was in response to a poster that basically said Axl is why Slash is doing the album and or no GnR album right now. Which is what you ended up quoting.

How is it always Axl's fault when Slash had the prior plans and intended to fulfill them. He said it himself it was always planned for him to do this? His recent interview mentions this stuff even.

How can people twist it and say he wouldn't do it if Axl wasn't gonna be busy. So if Axl was free for the next 10 years do you really believe Slash would just leave MKC to the wayside when those guys was coming to shows constant communication and they worked around his GnR schedule from day 1?

I'd wager a break would have eventually happened and he would have used that time no matter if Axl did or does ACDC.

    Edit

Now that I've seen the Brian pic it seems Axl thus far isn't doing anything. Slash is still going to do his album and tour and GnR will go on hold.

Also it's not hard for me to imagine Brian recording some songs that will go on an album and Axl recording a few as well.

Can Brian tour? Can Phil with his court stipulations?

I honestly don't know why anyone thinks an Axl/DC album would have any effect on a GNR album being released. Even if Axl isn't doing an album and tour with Angus, we're not getting a new GNR album any time soon. So as I see it, over the next few years we can have Axl giving 110% with Angus, or we can have complete silence and maybe a blurry picture or 2.

AC/DC is definitely not delaying a GNR album. The only person delaying a GNR album, seems to have more interest in AC/DC anyway. :axl:

So it wouldn't have anything to do with Slash's prior commitment to his band right?

You're right that we won't be getting an album from GnR likely this year or maybe even next. Slash is releasing and touring the album he started before this reunion and Axl is gonna work with AC/DC.

I think it's great how supportive they've been of each other through it all.

I believe Axl will be a part of the next AC/DC album. I don't care what the speculation has pointed to about Brian from their forum.

Nothing we have heard or saw leading up to this have learned in any way to Brian being back on vocals full time and Axl not doing this.

I'd believe that Brian could be on the album and possibly do a few songs but his touring issues with hearing haven't changed enough.

This is why it's a perfect time for Slash to do his album and tour it as well.

Phil Rudd has been making nice comments for a while now about Axl which clearly shows his intentions to be back in the fold. Not surprising he is rumored to be a part of this.

  17. 1 minute ago, StrangerInThisTown said:

I can't believe that he would do it for CD. It was his mammoth project in the works for a number of years and everyone wanted to hear it and there were big expectations of it and how it was going to sound. He knew he would be judged by the world including Slash who he hated at the time, and who had huge success with VR following GNRs breakup. He had a point to prove and I just don't see him not putting the best songs out of them all on that album. But we can't look into the guys head so..

And the ACDC thing seems to be history now, as one of the ACDC forum admins told the board that he has multiple sources saying ACDC is going to be making a small farewell tour and record a couple new songs with Brian, Cliff and Rudd coming back, so Axl should have enough time now to focus on GNR.

I haven't been over there in a while. Will have to go check it out.

As far as your comments on CD go it would have to depend on your thoughts on CD and its music. So many look at it in black n white only. Did Axl really base his song choices on someone else's expectations or in competition with VR? I doubt it. VR was also very lucky to have a already well known singer in Scott with a huge following as well. That also is my opinion as I happen to like Scotts voice.

I think Axl made due with what he could as far as fans and media went. People judged and decided before the album even came out. I've been around these forums for years and this comment isn't about anyone in particular but before the album even came out fans already had in their mind how it wasn't going to be good without Slash or this one or that one. This is probably the only forum I really ever post on though. I love this forum. It did take me years of just reading and watching forums before I joined any forums though.

Many fans could only think about how Axl is to blame for their favorite bands breakup. So yes it was going to take a lot to "win" those fans back. It was certainly unfair considering as fans we don't truly know the truth.

An example is sometimes songs don't fit the flow or message of an album so you keep them for another album.

Another being your not done writing or working on the song.

Many of GnRs greatest hits were written way before release for example.

This I love is a good example as it almost didn't make it on the album. It's a great song. I'm sure there are more songs like that.

We also have UyI 1 and 2.

  18. 15 minutes ago, StrangerInThisTown said:

I don't understand the enthusiams for those albums of unreleased songs. Axl found them worse than the songs that are on CD or he would've put them onto CD instead of the songs that are on CD. If they were good they would've been released by him. I personally don't want to hear songs of Axl singing over Bumblefoot and DJ Ashba guitar riffs that weren't good enough to end up on CD in the first place. It's like begging to sniff on trash. Maybe out of curiosity somewhere down the line, but I want them to write a new album of new material. Axl can reuse all the lyrics he wrote for those unreleased songs.

I don't know if I'd go as far as saying they won't be good because they weren't on CD. Perhaps some were held back for other albums on purpose. It wouldn't be the first time.

As far as the interview goes I think it was a good interview.

The fact that they can tour GnR and talk about new music while still respecting each others outside projects says alot.

So many people keep going on and on about how if things were going good Slash wouldn't be doing his album and tour. He said as was said before this was already started before GnR happened. He always planned and intended to come back to it. Why wouldn't he? Much like I respect Axl's loyalty to his band members I respect Slash's to his.

I think rightfully they will continue their respectful personal projects as well as come back and make new GnR music.

Many of the recent comments by Kat and Melissa show that the NITL tour is coming to an end for now.

During that break Axl may do AC/DC Slash will tour his album and others like Duff may have projects to do as well.

I think it's smart. In a year or so maybe next Summer even they can come back to GnR and record and tour an album.

We have now had Axl and Slash say new music has been talked about but it seems it will be once touring and prior/new obligations settle down.

I never once expected Slash to leave his band high and dry because GnR are getting along it wouldn't be fair to those guys. He put a lot into it. He can do both.

I also wouldn't be surprised to see other GnR members join Axl in AC/DC or even guest appearances with Slash who knows.

I don't get how it's that close to STP. I mean Revolver and Guns and we could go further with the Rose's and Velvet as well.

  20.

I'd wager a guess he likes to do it both ways. Sometimes certain riffs may not go with the feel you want for the song and sometimes you need to get the lyrics and perhaps piano in place before you can get a feel for how other parts would go with the song.

People keep forgetting Slash was already committed to that album before this reunion. He put it in hold for GnR.

I think Axl's commente a few years ago about Slash's book was just that. It was an answer he has given over and over that many fans pushed to the side and didn't believe.

They have now worked those issues out it seems on all sides which is great.

His comments about new music then was just that. He has shown them some stuff but it will be up to them if they wish to record with him. I'm sure it's not the only factor but again it was just an honest answer at the time.

Things seem to be going well at this point. I'm sure once they feel ready we will get new music in my opinion.

  21. I also want to add I remember after CD Axl coming on this forum and asking if anyone knew about the percent or something of another of people who may have gotten the music for free ie torrents illegal downloads etc.

I don't recall anyone actually answering the question he asked. Of course, many of the questions he tried to ask didn't get answered.

The part above and this next part are a general response to other posts.

I feel many fans rather they admit it or not didn't give CD a fair shake because Slash and others weren't on it.

I hear so many people who claimed the songs weren't good from CD or were average yet changed their opinion once the reunited versions were heard.

I sat next to a Grandma and her grandson. Grandma loved Original GnR grandson became a fan during NuGnr. He was so excited to hear Slash do some of the CD songs as he also became a huge fan of that lineup and respected them. In the end both found they had respect for both versions and grandma said she didn't think Slash did as well on TIL. Her words were "too much noodling".

I've talked to a mother son pairing who had similar stories once.

Me personally I love hearing their take on CD just like I want to hear Axl's take on Slither live.

There are so many fans outside this forum and others. These forums only really represent a tiny chunk in the GnR world. So many of them don't really even do internet which is weird to me but to each their own.

I think we will get new music. It just won't be as fast as many want.
