Or maybe Izzy felt Axl couldn’t properly set aside his “touring band” for a few songs to let the original lineup have their moment. And knowing Axl has no plans post tour to record with this lineup and is simply out making the money rounds but couldn’t be bothered to talk and find a financially acceptable way to make it work.

If Axl can go out and make the money then we shouldn’t knock Izzy for not showing up due to money.

Sorry I meant absolutely Izzy and Adler have rights to royalties and money made of AFD.

i was answering the title question not the post in the thread question. The title ask if Izzy and Steven have financial rights

So you must have missed Axl's intwrview where he said he's shown some songs to Slash and Duff and it is up to them if they record with him.

Well I guess they could squeeze another leg before Slash goes on the road with SMKC? His first date is in September or so, right?

Would love an arena leg here in EU, not sure why they would do another US leg unless they drastically change the set/show or Izzy and Steven return.

Or Guns can tour in the same areas as them. They could book their tours around Guns or vice versa.

  3. I love it. It sounds a little slower than other versions which I don't mind. I also think this has a mix of old and new on it. I'm gonna guess at least some is new vocals guitar etc.

dont you think the wooooh wooooooh backing vocal parts sound exactly the same as in this version below?

to me they sound absolutely identical (but much clearer) on this new version

That could be part of the old.

I agree with others it sounds like new and old. They may have rerecorded some to make it cleaner and tighten it up a bit.

I'm afraid, in the best case, it will be filled with Fernando's notes and stories  There'll be lyrics, pictures and an abundance of stupid facts or whatever other bullshit. If Mr Axl was ready to make an effort and share some interesting stories, he'd write a book and sell it on its own.

You are joking, right? If Axl's current voice was like that, we would be in a wholly different world

Axl said last year sometime he wanted to write a book but thought it was best not to now.

No need to get fans all in a bunch over Axls side ane cause issues in the band again.

    Nice!

I might hold off for a while.  I have a feeling the Locked & Loaded Version may not sell as well as they think.  Maybe it gets reduced to something like $500-$600 in a few months.

For starters, they would need 10,000 super die hard fans.  Then, they would need 10,000 super die hard fans with $1k and willing to spend it on a GN'R box set.

It's one thing shelling out $1k for VIP seats when you haven't seen your favorite band after 25 years but it's another thing paying $1k for (essentially) a chest, some posters, stickers and an extra vinyl or two....when you can still get all of the music for $30.

They may have seriously overestimated their market on this one.  I personally know a bunch of people that bought those VIP/$1k+ seats and I'd say the majority of them were casual fans (with money) that wanted to see them live and in good seats....no way those people are buying a $1k box set.

Anyway, I guess we'll see soon enough.

You might have a point there. I think I'm gonna try to hold out before reserving mine as well.

I was intending to do it today but waiting a while longer won't hurt anything.

If I can get that bix set a few hundred cheaper I'll jump on it if not back to Super with the book.

Seems like it's just trolling from non-fans who weren't buying the set to begin with. No matter the product, if people don't like the price of something, you'll always get these trolling comparisons.

Oh no I have a friend who is buying the 1000 version and he actually told me if he can spend 300 on a pair of shoes then he can spend 1000 on this.

When I told him I was in for the 650. He laughed and said the difference is only a new pair of shoes or two.

Clearly what the record company was hoping for.

I had a few people today tell me its new. Two out of the three I would have considered huge fans. Not everyone is into the internet one told me when I told him Shadow wasn't new.

Out of those three one is gonna pay the 1000. The other 2 preordered the Super Deluxe Edition.

My nephew who is 16 called to tell me that band I love released a sick arse new song.

I'm loving that people of all ages are getting into the song I guess.

I was actually considering doing the $650 as well....but after realizing that this is basically Universal's way of cashing in on the reunion, I'm out as well.  I'll probably get the music when it streams on Amazon, which I subscribe to...so won't cost me anything more than what I already pay now.

I've settled on the Super Deluxe. I want the book as well.

It seems many if us were willing to pay the $650.00. I'm wondering if the price of 1000 is really out of their hands and more the label.

I'd be curious to know where Mitch got the original price he mentioned from.

I just did the math.  According to those old rumors, the record label supposedly lost around $10 million on Chinese Democracy.  $1000 per box set X 10,000 units is $10 million dollars.  Coincidence?

Likely not and this also would free them up I believe to release another album on their own in the future.

Didn't they owe one more release?

Shadow sounds good. Wouldn't mind them dusting it off for the upcoming Euro leg. I don't know why people think release has any bearing on future original material being released. This is just something to tide people over while Axl/DC and Slash's solo take over 2019.

Why is the Shadow single not on Apple Music yet?

Remember Axl's comments on twitter comparing the Apple guy to Trump. Sorry his name escapes me right now.

He was upset about the whole album thing

$1000 for a box of music and merch is a lot of money.

But keep in mind that there are people out there who have the kind of money that spending $1k on something like this is no big deal.

For others, like myself, it's a luxury that would be nice to have but in no way financially justifiable.

The Lithos will also attract buyers.

I know people are looking at the price but I've known people to pay good money to get their hands on Lithos they wanted. Collectors of the Lithos will be jumping on this.

I once cringed at a friend who paid a few hundred for a Litho just because of the artwork. Of course he generally is able to get them at concerts he attends at a decent price. Those Ebayers suck.

Thinking of the face value of Lithos at concerts and add into the fact that there is only one way to get these and they've never been released to the public easily they will enjoy this.

I think at 650 they would have sold out very fast.

The context suggests Appetite years only. Though many UYI songs were, as we all know, written during the early years.

That's what I was looking at. We already know a lot of Illusions came from that era and CD likely started around Illusions era.

They have always talked about holding certain songs back that didn't fit in with an album for example.

I just don't think we can narrow down a year here honestly.

I mean look at November Rain. It started pre GnR and was worked on for a long time before being put on The Illusions album.

I feel it's less likely it will come from CD times but I mention that era as there was many songs that didn't make the album.

I want to add it wouldn't be odd for a box set like this to contain what would be new songs or a new song. In fact if they only wanted to release a song or two at this time it would be the perfect time to maximise on it.

Everything is in the box relating to AFD including 49 unreleased tracks (not necessarily unheard music, just unreleased). Google: Locked & Loaded Unpacked.

Prices rumoured at $650USD for the whole lot or $180USD for a stripped version

    June 29th

    Don't know

And unreleased can mean so many things.

It could mean unreleased from AFD or Illusions time. It could mean CD era songs unreleased.

I cant remember if this was mentioned by killuridols, but i can understand axl wanting to hold off with releasing reckless road....which means during the cd lineup axl was onboard or had ideals of releasing something like this later down the track. So much for not being defined by one album. Not bitching but ill be buying this.

The Reckless Road release is interesting and he probably did.

Of course many assume it was just a stab at Canter but perhaps it was more than that as you suggest

  15. I'm going to hold out on checking Amazon until I see actual price on this one.

It would be great if it wasn't 650.

Does anyone think new songs will be on here? I mean it's hard to tell what they mean by unreleased.

Very excited and will be getting this.

Axl's picture collection will be great to see and the actual box looks great too. This is very well put together from what I can tell.

Isn't there another version of Don't Cry Axl wrote?
