Always loved Circle Of The Noose. I know Flea never spoke too fondly about their work with Navarro, but they made some good songs with him.

I always felt Flea and John associated music in general with their feelings during recording/listening to it. It seems as if they felt great while writing songs or just listening to them they think very highly of it regardless of quality. I'm basing on a few podcasts they did and Flea's book mainly :D

I feel like if Flea listened to OHM and it wasn't by RHCP, he would think it's great

  2. Regarding their 1998-2004 studio work. There are a lot of demos out there for unreleased songs. It's not all great but it's fascinating to listen to to see the evolution of songs, etc. Also sometimes Anthony struggled so much that it just becomes funny lol

1998 demo CD playlist including several songs of Californication that sound different than released versions, then a few demos of songs called Tellin' A Lie, Mommasan, Andaman & Nicobar, Sugar Sugar, Trouble In The Pub, Boatman, Plate of Brown

2001 demo CD playlist from BTW sessions that includes a few unreleased song demos like Fall Water, Goldmine, Rock & Roll,

From 2003 there are demos as well including 2 unreleased songs like Starlight and 50fifty

The last song they did with Dave Navarro in 1997/98 before John's return:

No, agreed. Thing is, in Belgium at least they've never been popular with the press. And some reviews were just meanspirited and not fair at all. There's the bias against Axl mainly.  One reviewer even said Axl has no charisma and seemed uninterested. WTF. There's enough valid criticism to be made, but let's be fair at least.

My sister saw GNR for the first time at Graspop. I would call her a casual at most, I don't think she ever listens to GNR and pretty sure she's never heard CD. She goes to a lot of shows of all sorts of genres, and she said that Axl obviously doesn't sound anymore like he used to, but you could see he was going for it and giving his all for three hours and she really loved the band too. I think it's also about your expectations going in.

What your sister says is what literally everyone I talked to at Graspop said as well and that's around 10/15 people (usually camp neighbours). Some though he'd be worse than he was as well but nobody expected the 90s.

Some people were annoyed that a band with a singer that can't do it like in his prime is headlining the festival, but that's a different issue

  4. An update here. I watched Motley Crue and Def Leppard last night at the festival to close it out and Motley Crue was just embarrassing, it's like watching Steel Panther but it's not ironic

Def Leppard was very good, too bad I don't like their music. It's a bit too bland, objectively speaking for all of those 3 (GnR, Motley Crue, Def Leppard) they were definitely the best, they played amazingly, can still sing and the show around it had just enough of the screens/effects etc.

  5. Watching the live stream from Rock am Ring, it's about to end probably it's on Best Of You currently... and I have to say the band didn't sound this good in ages. Also, the show is much tighter than before, probably because a lot of time before was spent on Dave and Taylor making jokes and talking and now it's just Dave talking sometimes. What's missing is Taylor's charisma and his presence behind the kit, Josh Freese kinda has none even tho they sound better (I think)

The stadium will most likely be pretty full.  This happens a lot after the initial sale happens

What is the insensitive to buy a ticket today?  There are tons of seat left, so no worry about it selling out.  People are waiting to closer to the show or for discounts.  I've been to hundreds of concerts and have seen this happen many different times.

If live nation was worried about these venues not filling up the wouldn't have added another date.

Yeah, I buy tickets either immediately after they go on sale or 3 days before the show. I can imagine there are a ton of people doing that

  7. Don't know if we need a new topic or anything but I just saw the setlist for the new tour and it's fucking amazing. Their best in some time I think

    MOD EDIT:
Starting a new thread for a new tour, and I've moved all of the posts pertaining to the new tour into this new thread. I'll update below with tour info and dates:

Iron Maiden will be bringing a new tour to Europe in the Summer of 2023 including arena shows in the UK & Ireland. The Future Past Tour will feature previously unperformed songs from the band’s most recent studio album, Senjutsu along with a focus on 1986’s iconic Somewhere In Time record, plus other classic cuts.

    Steve Harris says,
“Following the release of our latest album, Senjutsu, we updated the current Legacy of the Beast Tour a little by opening the show with the first 3 songs from it, with the Japanese Palace stage set. As it doesn’t make a lot of sense to repeat this for a Senjutsu album tour, we thought about other options and we’ve decided to revisit Somewhere In Time as that tour didn’t feature in the various retrospective history tours we’ve played over the years. They were based on our 80’s concert videos and sadly we did not film that tour (blame the manager!!).  We have had lots of requests from fans over the years for many tracks on it so we are now going to play them, plus of course a few others we know you will like! It will also be particularly satisfying to finally get to play some of the more epic tracks on Senjutsu, it's been a long wait! 2023 is going to be an exciting time and we’re really looking forward to seeing everyone again in the UK, Ireland and around Europe”.

    Manager, Rod Smallwood adds,
“This combination of the two albums we feel is very exciting. We know fans want to hear those epic cuts on Senjutsu for the first time live and we think that by combining it with an iconic album like Somewhere In Time it will make for another really special tour for fans old and new! Of course, for a new album tour in Europe and the UK we will go back largely to the relative intimacy of arenas and we know fans will be very happy about that too!”

Never been into PF, but that many people (fans) can't be wrong.

Someone said to listen to Pulse..... Would others agree?

It's a good start. Good setlist and Gilmour was amazing that show

If you like it then I'd just go in order of the 4 big albums from "The Dark Side of the Moon" to "The Wall"

Yeah, Roger has lost his mind:

I get he probably wanted to wear a Nazi costume as a way to antagonize it and not praise it but man… you combine that with the flying pig with the star of david, which, by itself is already unacceptable, and it does not look good at all. He’s gone insane, unfortunately. What a shame…

The flying pig with the star of David has 10 other things on it as well, it basically says fuck religion, fuck corporations, fuck Uncle Sam.

I saw his show 2 days ago in Prague and that whole bit is very obvious, also shooting at the crowd is very obvious because it comes after In The Flesh? and the last line that goes: "If I had my way I'd have all of you shot!" - basically it's an anti-dictator/fascism part of the show

Also, I'm glad he got some boos and some "FUCK PUTIN" from the crowd when he said something in line - the wars on Earth will never stop, this one in Ukraine either, they're all making it worse, ALL OF THEM. A lot of the time wars have 2 bad sides but this time it's pretty fucking obvious who's in the wrong.

Man, that wasn't really that good.

I really don't get what all these guys see in that Andrew Watts dude. Seems somewhat like a douche.

3 months later but just saw this. I watched an interview with Flea, Iggy Pop and him, he was really down to earth and very open. I think he just doesn't know how to perform live and not look over the top and cringe

On the original Guardian article, Queens of the Stone Age are listed, but they're not on the official poster for some reason.

And now QoTSA have been removed from the Guardian article.

I think there were a few more other than QOTSA in that guardian article that I noticed are missing from the poster just by glancing over those 2

Sounds like Stone Temple Pilots in places. Still suffering from that grunge PTSD.

I don't think it sounds like STP in places. It sounds like a STP song 100% :D
