I had gotten the list back in 2018 during the HOB/remix leaks. Before any knowledge of the storage locker.

2018 is a lot later than 2010/2011 when the original MSL list came out.

You're saying you don't remember Perhaps as a song title until 2018?

Also, how is it you haven't heard The General yet?  People have had it for a long time.  People you probably know.

If so, then I must have missed it somehow.  I'm not the only one that never saw it on any list though.

How about we all just keep quiet until Friday? SOG is not the general. Come on ppl! Breathe!

You're free to log off and go about your life until Friday.  Nobody's forcing you to be here.

The rest of us are legitimately excited.  We're gonna talk about it.

It's just a tiring discussion to read through and I hope this can in some way quell the doubt that these songs are in any way the same.

As far as I know nobody is arguing that Song A (State of Grace) and Song B (song in background at party) aren't different songs.  Clearly, they are.

The question is...what are the real titles?  How do we know that song at the party was The General?  Maybe that was Soul Monster, and SOG got changed into The General?  Until something official comes out, how can we know?

What is everyone using as a source, anyway?  I have a two minute long clip of the song played at the party and you can barely hear shit.  It's mostly people talking.

I must have lost Evader's re-creation.  All I have is a 7 second clip that has clicks on it.  It kinda sucks.  How long is the "Evader version?"

  4. All the MSL stuff was on gnfnr before it went away.  I remember the list.  I remember it well.  I thought it was complete 100% horseshit.

    "Cuban Skies?"

Come on.  Try a little harder MSL.  I dismissed it along with the rest of the list cause it seemed like such an obvious fake name.

Slowly but surely, over the next several years, almost a decade later, most (all?) of what MSL claimed turned out to be true.

We still haven't heard Cuban Skies, but "Tonto" exists in some form.  That's an awfully specific thing for him to just pull out of thin air.

I wish I'd have kept a copy at the time, but I didn't bother cause it all seemed fake to me.  But I remember Cuban Skies, I remember Tonto, I remember Going Down and Light My Fire.

Do NOT remember Perhaps being on that initial list.  I never heard the title Perhaps used for a song until we first had it in our hands in 2019.

  5. I can't speak for others, but the reason I'm concerned it's State of Grace is cause GNR haven't released anything that we haven't heard leaked since Sorry, TIL, and Scraped.  In 2008.

Also, Baz's descriptions are notoriously vague and shitty, but the way he described The General could also apply to SOG.

Considering how often the working titles changed, it's not unreasonable to theorize that the song that was originally known as State of Grace in 1999 could eventually evolve into what Baz heard as The General in 2006.

  6. I hope the poster really did hear it over the phone and isn't just another full of shit attention seeker like we've seen roughly 856 times in the last two and a half decades.

All I want is confirmation that it's NOT State of Grace and that it's a finished song with vocals.

If that's the case, I don't give a fuck if it takes two more weeks or two more months....if it really exists, we WILL hear it.

I just can't even articulate how crushingly disappointed I'd be to finally hit "play" on The General and it's just a song we already heard from the locker leaks.

Has there ever in the history of the band been a song they put out on vinyl but purposefully withheld from their digital catalog? No.

Is there any particular reason for them to do that now? No.

To say it might never happen is just as much of an assumption as to say it will. The difference is that one assumption is backed by precedent, and the other is not.

"Coma" from Live Era is still only officially available on vinyl in the US.

It's on the Japanese CD as a bonus track.

I don't think they've ever made it available digitally.  It's out there, yes, but not officially from the band or label.

  8. Noticing that stuff is weird doesn't automatically indicate a "conspiracy."

    It IS weird, isn't it?

He had no problem just going in and belting out three tunes with Bach on a whim one day.  He obviously recorded Rock the Rock without even writing it.  But we don't have any confirmation of NEW vocals recorded for a GNR project since...2007 or so?  Maybe the This I Love remix?

I'm not saying it's a conspiracy.  You're the one throwing that word around.  (Which is kind of ironic, cause that was the official name of GNR's fan club in the 80s.)

I used to swear up and down to anyone that would (or wouldn't) listen that there was NO WAY there were any unheard songs in the "vault."  It was all an urban legend.  I was convinced based on the actual evidence we had for over a decade that there were MAYBE, maaaaybe two or three unheard songs with vocals.  I was sure of it.  There simply was no other reason to believe otherwise, and I sure as hell didn't take people like Beta's word for it.

Then the 2019 locker leaks made a liar out of me.  I was proven 1000% wrong.  And I've never been so thrilled to be wrong!  I couldn't fucking believe there really actually were songs with vocals out there we never had even the slightest CLUE about!

So now, I don't try to make any sweeping statements about shit I can't prove.  The only thing that is constant about this band (and Axl especially) is just when you think you've got it figured out, the fucker completely surprises you.

I do find it very odd about the serious lack of new vocals for GNR releases though.  I'm not saying they don't exist.  But its sure strange that none have been released.  Until we see some evidence, I can't say anything conclusive.  But I surely don't think it's unreasonable to come to the conclusion that he seems to have some hang-up about it until he proves otherwise.

It's quite a stretch to call that guy a flat-earther for noticing the distinct pattern that's been going on.  Hopefully in time we can all find out the truth one way or the other.

  9. As long as it's not State of Grace, I'll be completely satisfied with it no matter what.

I was at the San Diego show two weeks ago, and was assured by someone that's heard it that it was good.  So it's not just some piece of shit instrumental.  It's a real song.

If that song is State of Grace, it's a crushing disappointment cause it's not new.

If it's an actual NEW song from the CD sessions we haven't heard before?  It's fucking awesome.

    Yeah, keep telling yourself that.

The last time Axl sang for AC/DC it almost cost Johnson his job.  His voice isn't anything to write home about these days either.  If you really think these guys aren't insecure and petty enough to make demands about stifling the competition, you must not know much about the music industry.
