Middle of the night now....so they're in their hotel, most likely. Possibly out on the streets of Tokyo, but at their age, do they really do that anymore?
The promoter updated with pics of official merch. It's not as nice as the 2017 stuff, but still cool.
I think the little soy sauce dishes are a nice touch, but stupidly expensive.

I lived in Saitama for over 10 years. Just left in June. Pisses me off. I should have been at this show.
I don't expect anything exciting though. In the past GNR used to really make their Tokyo stops special and exciting, but they're clearly on cruise control now. I doubt there will be any surprises. Still sucks that I'm not there though.
(Also, Friday is my birthday. GNR coming to my hometown in Japan on my birthday weekend and I'm not there. God hates me.)

I know it's anecdotal, and it was over 20 years ago, but "Coma" from Live Era sounds like shit compared to the rest of the CD. I have the actual Japanese disc and the dip in quality when the bonus track comes on is noticeable. It's like they just sourced it from the vinyl and called it a day.
Considering the lazy nature of everything this band has ever done, I can't imagine them going to any trouble for these Japanese bonus tracks. They're already out there on the old laserdiscs and DVDs, so they'll probably just rip em and throw em on the end of the CDs and call it a day.
Really hard to get worked up about live tracks I used to watch over and over on VHS back in high school. In the 90s. BUT....that's GNR in a nutshell isn't it?

Better than pink for sure!! But for real, I think yellow was one of the better color options. The rest were a bit drab, and purple or pink was gaudy. Yellow is fun and flashy.
Still.....moon would be best.
-
Thanks! Glad someone out there appreciates it. Sometimes when I show it to people they just go "The fuck is that, a watch for nerdy kids?" Hmmm...well kinda, but I still like it.
It's cool you got a Moonswatch for retail price (I assume) but I still think it's such bullshit that they refuse to produce them in proper numbers and sell them online. My brother had his heart set on the Moon model, and of course good fucking luck getting that one. I think the bullshit colors like pink and purple are less expensive, but that's cause nobody wants them. They want THE MOON!
-
My brother really wanted to get the "cheap" Omega Moonswatch that was sold earlier this year, but it sold out instantly and is still unavailable. I hate when companies create artificial scarcity instead of just making money by giving people what they want. They flat-out refuse to make more despite the insane demand for the watches. Assholes.
Anyone here have the Axl Rose Skull watch? Supposedly only 25 made??
If you missed it, don't worry....you can still get one for $100,000.
I used to wear a $10 digital watch, but like everyone else, I stopped bothering once cell phones became a thing. I DO own one watch though.
I'm an absolute fanatic about AKIRA and it's author, Otomo Katsuhiro. About ten years ago, Casio released a special G-Shock that was allegedly designed and approved by Otomo himself. It was limited to 1000 copies. It cost about $200. It came in a really cool tin, housed inside a really nice box with graphics from the AKIRA manga.
I'm so glad I was able to get it for $200, cause now if you can find it for sale, it goes for well over $1000.
I only wore it once, but I got freaked out it was gonna get scratched so I immediately took it off and put it back in my pocket. Besides, it's a very dorky color that doesn't exactly "go" with anything. I'm still glad I have it though.

If you mean setlist.fm, setlists can be posted by anyone in the world. If they're wrong, hopefully someone will correct them. But there's nothing stopping anyone at all from posting a completely fake setlist. I could do it right now if I wanted to.
-
I don't listen to their music or anything but I know who they are from Aunty Donna.
-
Now that is fucking hideous. Worst one yet.

You people really never read the liner notes to the album? Even the doctors get thanked for their voice-overs.
I remember sitting and reading along with the booklet the first time I got the CD. What kinds of fans are you?- 9

That's quite a website. What do you make of this?
Coma
Effects [Sound Effects] – Bruce Foster, Johann*
Percussion – Matt*
Performer [Bitches] – Diane Mitchell, Michelle Loiselle, Monica Zierhut-Soto, Patricia Fuenzalida, Rose Mann, Susanne Filkins
Written-By – Rose*, Slash (3)There is an official designation / credit to the bitches that made the song possible?
You don't own a copy of UYI I? The "bitches" have been thanked in the liner notes since the album was released.

It's not. Most likely it's a copy from Argentina 1993, either night. Both were broadcast in soundboard and have been circulating for almost 20 years. First time I heard GNR's Dead Flowers was from the July 16th show, played on local radio in the US back in the mid 90s.

Today's litho:
It's OK, I guess...nothing special. I'd like to see if it's really printed off center like that. I don't know what that skull is supposed to be but hopefully it has some relevance to the city.
My main criticism is that it looks way too similar to this one from Australia in 2017. No need for repeats, in my opinion.

That's gonna take 6 discs. If there's a full show from 1991 and another from 1992, that's 4 discs right there. One full-length UYI concert can't fit on a 77 minute disc. All my bootlegs from the 90s were 2 discs for full shows from the UYI tour.

And NO...it's nothing that would excite new listeners, old fans, Terminator 2 aficionados, or anyone else on the planet with the possible exception of the most mentally deranged Axl fanatics on the planet and parts of the Brazilian population.

Is it something that would excite new listeners or existing fans>
It sounds like every other YCBM from the UYI tour we've heard countless times in the last 30 years. It's so unremarkable it's comical.
Axl sounds rough as shit, like he's been gargling razor blades, but that was very common for him back then. Still better than the weak, limp wheeze he sings with now.About the only noticeable thing about is that the drums are high in the mix, at least to my ears. I'm not an audiophile.
It also has hideous cover art.
What an eyesore. Even the "clean" version from Wal Mart in the late 90s was better than this.

Never mind, it's been fixed. Same old setlist.
-
What's going on with this show? Setlistfm makes it looks like a very truncated set. Is that accurate or someone just filled it out wrong?
-
It's by Arian Buhler, so of course it's gonna be higher quality than the rest. Having said that, I don't love the eyeballs in the skull. I like the clean linework and bold colors, though.

I don't believe any of those old West Arkeen outtakes were ever considered GNR songs or were ever actually considered for GNR records.
-
The setlist is on setlistfm, just like they all are.
Nothing happened.

That one's the best of Brazil so far, yes.
The design for Sept 13th was interesting, in a 1980s homage kind of way, but not what I'd like to see in a GNR concert poster.
The others for Brazil have all been like tonight...really generic and uninspired and just loosely mixing and matching iconography from GNR's past.
I'd definitely feel ripped off as a Brazilian.
-
I agree. These have been some of the most boring and uninspired lithos since the tour started 6 years ago. Surely the artists or the team behind the merchandise could have done some research and found something unique about each city. They've done a great job with some really obscure places all over the globe all these years, so it seems to me that someone really dropped the ball for this Brazilian tour.
Tonight's is especially lazy for using such an obvious and outdated reference for Axl. Slash and Duff look like they do nowadays, but the artist just traced this old picture from the UYI tour.
I'd feel bad if it were my city, considering all the thought and effort that went into all the hundreds of lithos before this leg of the tour. But then again, the only other leg that never got lithos at all was Mexico in early 2016. Maybe GNR just don't think merch sells well in South America or something.

Rude!
There's 8 billion people on the planet. How many of them have heard of "Ribeirao Preto?"
Be honest. Have you ever heard of "Ribeirao Preto" before Guns booked a show there?
Look in a mirror.....that's "rude" staring back at you.

Here's what will be available in Japan this weekend. Lithos are still "top secret" for now.
