I just listened to their whole new album... It's so shit. Sounds too polish and ashbas guitar tone is awefull, got no punch at all. Their last album was a whole lot better

WTF Kennedy? His constant arm movement is incredible annoying. Not to mention he seriously lacks any power to sing GN'R songs.

The extended solo is boring. Kind of shitty perfomance to me.

Actually I don't think that the best design is winning so far, but that's is just a matter of personal taste. Whoever win this will much improve the current image anyway.

IMO, we should vote for the best overall work. Some entries have a great banner or logo, but I think we should vote for what works better together. For example, in my entries I have a really elaborated banner so the logo is by logic more simplistic, just to be more visible when placed over the banner. I think it work better that way on that particular case, because of the colours of the banner and the forum, etc. In ohter entries the logo is really elaborated and the banner isn't as much, but the overall result is good anyway. So if you ask me I would vote for the entry that looks better together and that would improve most the site.

Hmm, so you're saying like one artist's banner but a different person's logo if the end result looks better?

I'd be cool with that, but the artists would have to be comfortable with it, and we'd have to negotiate the awkwardness of who gets the grand prize in that situation too.

Regardless, I am over the moon with the quality of entries in this thread - you guys really stepped it up, and you should all be proud of your work. I really wish there was a way to thank you everyone individually with something, because you all deserve it.

We will. I know I said it would be based on likes in this thread, but I don't think any entrants will object to it moving to a poll format instead.

With a poll format you could see who voted? I'm asking this because of the points that each categories of members counts (as it's explained on the OP)

Not every profesional picture is copyrighted. I tried to avoid it but ended up using only two copyrighted pics con my banner that i couldnt ask for permission. But every fansite uses copyrighted photos at some level and i dont think they have an issue. I suggest that we keep using the photos and if the winner have an issue with the pictures in the future just change it.

I suggest we postpone the deadline for a couple of weeks and in the mean time mail a couple of the established Gn'R photographers (think of Marc Canter, Robert John, Ross Halfin, Tony Trujillo, maybe Kat.) if we can use their photos on a forum banner for a non-profit Gn'R fan forum. I'm sure they'll consider it and the results will be that we can make much better entries without limitations to photographical material. It's just impossible to find some quality shots, especially of the new band, without copyright. That why I'm all for it. The source material we DO have is very limited and Frank isn't on the line-up shots of the Adelaide show.

I'll give it one more week, but that's it. Don't want this dragging on forever.

Final entries are due May 7. We'll start voting after that.

Manfisman: Great work! Although I really liked your rationale for the original banner, I still prefer having the classic lineup in B&W too because of symmetry and to make the current lineup stand out more.

I get what are you saying. It's a matter of taste.

Maybe when the polls of every desing starts both versions of this entry can be submitted? If a user votes for my design (B&W or not) is one vote for that entry, but the one that gets more votes between those two is the one. Would be kinda confusing to count anyway ha. Or if this entry wins, after the poll there could be another poll to see if we use B&W or not.
