There is more post about people bitching about people bitching than there are actual people bitching...and now I'm part of the problem!

It's only people talking after all. Let's face it most of us are drunk here anyway for show threads. I view it as a party. No bitching, just talking.

Whn you guys say Axl is sounding good do you mean he sounds like 2010 or AXL/DC? If so, can't wait for videos.

If your definition of good is clean voice, how is it any different from the 2011-2014 period?

No 2010 is gone. Axl tonight is sounding like normal 2016 NA Leg NITL performance tonight . Which is to say very good for NITL tour.

Hey at least we're switching it up about  what we bitch about!

I'm thinking for the weekend shows off bringing in some deep cuts bitching about the weather and poor quality of merchandise than the main stream setlist and axls voice bitching.

I'm going classic Bitching for the London show. Axl's hats all night long.

i'd like to hear more songs from musicians here on the forum! there have not been many for a while :)

Here's my cover of Dust N'Bones that I did two years ago. The forum was not a fan of the snare drum sound. I hope to fix that soon because I finally have a decent snare!

I understand what he is goin' for but I cant respect that even for a second. Why? 'cause he knows he sounds awful, he knows fans dont like it and he still does it. Is he savin his voice? I dont know, but it does sound terrible.

I try not to think much about it, but I cant say that I respect it.

    I hear what you're saying.

The one thing I can say is that even though I know that YouTube videos are pretty accurate in rasp levels, Axl's clean voice sounds 1 million times better live. The way they mix him is brilliant. He sounds like a fucking rock star professional on every note at the show. Doesn't translate on YouTube for whatever reason.

On an unrelated note.. This is awesome.

I rather have him as a "tricky pony" than a mickey mouse.

Well in that case I would direct you to listen to some Axl/DC from 2016. Axl fully committed to the stereotypical Axl Rose vocals because that's what Angus wanted and that's what Angus hired him for.

It's quite obvious that in GN'R Axl still does whatever the fuck he wants vocally whether we like it or not. And that includes preparing Prostitute before even thinking about Dead Horse, Breakdown or Pretty Tied Up.

How can anyone objectively think Axl sounds good.

While I can't say he objectively sounds good. I can say that I understand what he's trying to do. Look at this:

Objectively it's terrible. However, you can see what he's going for. Instead of just "Chainsaw Axl Rasp" he's actually trying to sing the song in a nuanced way and not be regarded as a one trick pony. I can respect that, even though it sounds bad.

That's how I view Axl's performance on BHS.

But it makes no sense...sure, soundgarden was a gnr opener and Chris was cool with Slash and Duff. But Chris also said that he actually never meet Axl and had no relationship with him at all.

It does kinda make sense. The Duff/Cornell connection is strong, besides the Seattle thing Duff performed with Chris at the Mad Season show. Also even back in the day Slash used to talk about what a huge Soundgarden fan he was, also there's Promise from his album. Even though Slash seems to take a bit of a backseat in this song. Who knows, maybe Fortus was the one who picked the song and that's why he plays the solo. And Axl being such a rock scholar I'm sure he had tons of respect for Cornell's musicianship. Although Axl admittedly doesn't put much fire into this version.

I suspect that this song will stay in the set at least through Europe and possibly through US as well. I'm hoping that for the Arena run they close the book on the NITL tour, consider it a success, and reboot the setlist a la Skin N' Bones.

  10. I don't know why Axl chose to use his wildly unpopular "Don't let it bring you down" voice. It would have sounded better if he just went for it imo. I also did not care for the Fortus solo. However it's cool that they did the song as a tribute to Chris Cornell.
