  1. Aww, I don't think it's stupid. It's something that I've noticed while rereading the story too.

Thanks. But after doing some research I noticed that even though the story was originally written in 1990 it was only published in 1994 meaning Del probably made some changes to make the story "up-to-date" if you know what I mean. Also, the record being delayed in this story could be a reference to Use Your Illusion rather than a prediction of sorts to Chinese Democracy.

  2. Del James wrote the short story Without You after Axl and Erin Everly's marriage fell apart in 1990, and I feel like some of the stuff in the story ended up actually happening to Axl in the years that followed. I'm not trying to signify anything spiritual, I just thought it'd be fun to compare a little.

"Staring into a full-length mirror, the run-down recluse didn't recognize the reflection. Sure, the long blond hair and tattoos gave him away, but he looked so frail."

Axl became a recluse in the mid-to-late 90's who was only recognizable by his hair and tattoos (not really frail, though).

"The dull hum lasted only seconds but the memories of his final show with his former band, Suicide Shift, would never fade."

The band that made this singer famous broke up some time ago. Kinda reminds you of the classic Guns N' Roses, doesn't it?

"The band had been on the road for the better part of fourteen months, over 285 concerts."

After this story was written, GN'R did a 2-and-a-half year long world tour that lasted roughly 200 shows.

"It was Suicide Shift's first headlining tour."

The Use Your Illusion tour was Guns N' Roses's first headlining tour.

"Also in the phone's memory was his record label, his manager, the three members of his current band, the Mayne Mann group(...)"

Technically speaking, Axl's new version of GNR is really his own solo band.

"He knew he had to be in the studio soon but didn't feel up to it. Besides, the recording of his latest album, Alone, had been finished over a month ago. The album was now in the final mixing stages. If Mayne liked what he heard, he'd approve it and the record would be released on schedule. If not, it would have to be remixed until he did approve. So then, what the fuck did they need him for? He procrastinated for as long as he could(...)"

    Chinese Democracy.

In conclusion, I'd like to say I'm glad Seymour or Everly didn't commit suicide and I'm glad Rose didn't burn his house down with him in it. I just thought these minor comparisons to what was written in 1990 and what happened in the years after seemed cool.

EDIT: It was only after I posted this when I realized how fucking stupid it was. But I'll leave it just in case it really interests any of you

  3. If Axl met up with Slash, Izzy and Duff at a bar out of complete randomness and they all sat down with a couple of acoustic guitars and played one or two songs for shits and giggles, all those people talking shit about him on the Yahoo page would be like "Axl's awesome and he looks decent" blah blah blah...Just saying...

Exactly, and everyone would say how great he sounded, even with a bridge school quality performance.

Which is why a reunion should happen, but I would rather it be a small simple surprise one-off acoustic gig (like i suggested) instead of a multi-million dollar nostalgia tour extravaganza. That way it would feel like they were doing it because they want to play and not because they want to make money. and the public will lighten up on Axl a little bit.

  5. the fact that he continue's to basically front a cover band makes me wish he did show up at the RNRHOF. If he has no intentions to move this band forward, than he might as well get back together with the real deal while his vocal's are somewhat there.

  6. so you're telling me there's a show which is worse than RIR 4? God, things are bad for GNR...

Well yeah I went and watched RIR 2011 after watching some of Malaysia 2013 so I guess what I'm trying to say is that things have gotten worse since 2011, yes.

  7. NOTE: I'm not sure if this is in the right section so if this needs to be moved than so be it.

Anyway, I never actually saw the full Rock In Rio 2011 gig, only "Estranged" and "November Rain" and yeah, those sucked. But for shits and giggles I went and saw the whole gig and now I have one question to ask...why the fuck were all you bitching when this gig happened?

It wasn't that bad, man. Compared to the recent Malaysia gig this year (which pretty much killed Current GnR for me) this RIR 2011 show actually pretty decent. Axl's voice wasn't at it's best, but it wasn't terrible like it is this year.

I just figured I might as well share my opinion. I'm still in favor of a reunion of the Classic band and I still don't give a shit about Current band (especially since they haven't done new music yet), I'm just saying, lighten up on Rock In Rio 2011, it wasn't THAT bad!

  8. I see it as 3 different bands

    Classic band

    ChiDem band

    Current band

I was gonna post that. My favorite is the ChiDem, followed by Classic.

My favorite is in the order in which they existed. In other words, GNR got worse in my opinion as time went along. Classic band was great, ChiDem band was good and Current band sucks until they finally put out new music, which might still suck

  9. Is han solo going to in the new ones? if u got chewy and solo u have a movie. Bring back Admiral Akbar.

Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford are all confirmed to be coming back according to George Lucas (though Disney themselves haven't made it official yet) and Billy Dee Williams, Peter Mayhew and Tony Daniels have all expressed interest. Even John Williams wants to come back as the score writer.

My theory is that Disney will confirm all this on May 4th (national Star Wars day).

  10. Why are people so excited that Abrams is directing it?

He has absolutely zero decent movies under his belt, and certainly is no where NEAR an 'A-game' director.

He's a mediocre director, and the new film will be a mediocre film that will be absolutely forgettable.

Just look at the guys resume...

    Cloverfield - retarded flop movie

Star Trek remake - Lots of action, uninteresting, and boring

Super 8 - Does anyone even remember that movie?

    LOST - lol.

Fringe - A flop, failed, uninteresting, bloated, nonsensical series

Mission Impossible III - Uh... lol.

Insomnia was a good flick, but Nolan's better work was definitely with the Batman series

Really? Memento, Insomnia, and Prestige are all better than each of the Batman movies.

I'm interested in the screen writer for the new Star Wars... Perhaps he will make up for Abrams creative sterility.

The new writer is Michael Ardnt, his previous writing credits were on Little Miss Sunshine and Toy Story 3, both highly acclaimed movies. The writer of Empire Strikes Back, Return Of the Jedi and the original Indiana Jones trilogy is also involved as is Simon Kinberg, who wrote all the old X-Men movies as well as Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Jumper.

  11. Some Star Wars fans such as myself are happy that we're getting new films that have little input from George Lucas and instead have a lot of input from JJ Abrams (an A-game director) and Michael Ardnt, Lawrence Kasdan and Simon Kinberg (A-game writers). Fans such as myself are also happy of the fact that Disney is in charge now considering they do a pretty good job with their other properties.

With that being said, other fans are extremely upset that Disney is cancelling all of the current Star Wars projects that were going on before the deal was closed such as the 3D re-releases, the Clone Wars cartoon show, the comedy cartoon Detours and the videogames First Assualt, 13:13 and possibly BattleFront 3 as well as the entire LucasArts videogame division. Their's also the inevitable fact that decades of books and comics and even some videogames that take place after the first six films are about to become non-canon.

I don't know if any of you are Star Wars fans, but where do you stand in all this? I support the upcoming Disney films cause for me it's all about the movies, I couldn't care less about any of that other stuff. But what about you?
