  1. I made a mistake in saying this is as close to perfect as can be - VHS has a limitation of 240p resolution.

So the actual master has 480p quality, which was transferred to the VHS in the OP at 240p quality. So the actual master has double the resolution of what we have available.

We should start an email campaign to Eagle Rock - they're good at tracking down old video sources and re-releasing shows:

  2. So this is the best version we have or there's a better one? I'm downloading it now but if someone can answer my question it'll be appreciated

This is the best available - it's from a promo VHS tape that MTV put out years ago.

The only way to get better quality would be to use the actual master tape from MTV, but no one has access to it. The promo VHS tape was duped directly from the master in SP mode, so this is pretty close to perfect anyways.

  3. Interview made for the french Slash forum The Pit

Niko : Who is the rythm guitarist with whom you enjoyed the most when recording?

Slash : I would have to say for a 2 guitar team, Izzy sounds the most interesting at the end of the day.

    http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/slash-cant-remember-current-guns-n-roses-guitarist-dj-ashbas-name/

    Hmm,

During Appetite..., Lies and Use Your... I had to put up with Izzy the whole time. I never liked playing with him. It was wonderful to escape him on this record. It sounds tighter and so much cooler than anything we've done before. I always got irritated over Izzy's way of playing. It didn't sound right. Before "Spaghetti", we erased his guitar and Gilby put on a new one. It sounded perfect!

    - Slash, Okej November? 1993, http://www.heretodaygonetohell.com/articles/showarticle.php?articleid=13.

I've said this before but I've never bought that older Slash interview as legit. It doesn't sound like Slash's "voice", and doesn't even match up with other interviews where he was critical of Izzy.

He was using at the time and towing the company line

  4. Msg was good from what I remember, but when I say good I mean good for 02. He was very consistent in 2002. It was powerful at times, but it wasn't Axl's classic voice.

Obviously he looked into it over the break 02-06 and got it fixed vocally.

I guess he figured he'd give it one last shot before he literally became completely irrelevant after 2006.

I think he upped his game to compete with Velvet Revolver

  5. During the 2002 rant in the OP, Axl says "that worked especially well in Tel Aviv".

GNR only played Tel Aviv in 1993 during Izzy's 5-gig return stint:

05.22.93 - Hayarkon Park, Tel Aviv, Israel

    opening acts: Brian May
set: It's So Easy, Mr. Brownstone, Live And Let Die, Welcome To The Jungle, Attitude, Double Talkin' Jive, You Ain't The First, You're Crazy, Used To Love Her, Patience, Knockin' On Heaven's Door, November Rain, You Could Be Mine, Hava Nagila [intro] / Sweet Child O' Mine, Dead Horse, Paradise City
    attendance: 40,000
    audio/video recording?: no
notes: This setlist is not 100% correct, but as close to what was played. Thanks to Johnny G. for this info. GN'R embark on the Holy Land. Izzy returns to the band for the first of five dates. Gilby had broken his wrist in a motorcycle accident so a replacement was needed. During the show, the band played a short version of a famous Hebrew song "Hava Nagila."

So he was whacked out of his mind in 1993, not necessarily at the beginning of the UYI tour

  6. I'll never forget my disappointment. I'd never felt that way about music before.

You must have a different album than I do. I love it, I still get excited listening to it. Bring on the second half of the album, Axl rock3

You might be right. My copy has this shit song called Scraped. It even has this weird blip in it. No way perfectionist Axl would put that on the real album. Where can I get what you have?

I remember playing CD for my friends, and when Scraped started they burst out laughing

    It's that bad

  7. For those of you who remember, in 2003 Slash guested on Kimmel and they announced a "surprise guest" for Slash and and said "Ladies and gentleman AXL ROSE" and a some guy dressed like Axl came out and hugged Slash.

This isn't what happened - Kimmel told Slash (who was guest-hosting the show for a week) that Axl was backstage. Slash said "I don't believe you" and then went backstage to investigate while cameras followed him. There was a cardboard cut-out of Axl in the green room.

    Incorrect. http://www.mygnrforum.com/index.php?/topic/2436-a-surprise-for-slash-on-kimmel-axl/

Madison details the entire thing in post #10.

I watched it live you retard
