  1. Should GNR perform songs that were written and recorded during the breakup?

The only precedent I can think of is Tears For Fears performing "Break It Down Again" in recent years, which is weird because it was kind of a fuck-you to Curt Smith that Roland Orzabel wrote for a TFF album that he produced while they were broken up.

It would be like Axl singing "Sorry" with Slash on-stage.

I can't explain 2010 as well, but 2006 was a major comeback he had to nail after 2002. He had the fire and its why he sounded great.

He'll never admit it, but GNR at that point was competing against Velvet Revolver - I guarantee you Axl didn't want to look washed up compared to Scott Weiland

    Competition is healthy

Lets just hope he's been hanging out with Duff down the Gym a little to get into some decent shape. Especially if he insists on doing 3 hour shows - lets be honest we'd be happy with a little over 2 hours if it helped the voice.

It is going to be the biggest issue the reunion has - its going to be BIG news, everyone will cover it in the music press and possibly some regular press as well. Get it wrong out of the gate and its game over. We know Slash & Duff can still play well but Axl is 54 years old and Guns songs are not easy songs to sing. He hasn't looked in the best shape in the past few years we've seen him. The only chance is he gets in serious shape and puts in some decent amount of practice - which is un-axl like. I can't see it being amazing.

David Lee Roth got in amazing shape when he rejoined Van Halen in 2007, and he was the last person at that point I would have expected to be shirtless and rocking abs - Dave was 53 at that point

Its different, or else I want to convince myself its different. So many things though: first of all, it wasn't a year, it was a few months. Second of all, Duff was doing Axl a favor. I would think if this involves Slash and its a semi reunion, this is a little more serious. Didn't really matter how Axl sounded when Duff was there last year. It was Duff's gesture that was the big thing. Also, didn't people say Axl sounded quite good at those shows? At least the Vegas ones? Furthermore, Duff was the one who got Axl to OPEN with You Could Be Mine! It shows Duff has power and isn't just going along with it. He's changing things, for the better. I have no doubt that if he can do stuff like that, he can also have a heart to heart with Axl about showing up, and more importantly Axl wanting to show Duff that he can return the favor. It works out for all of them.

Again, maybe its a fantasy, but I do think its more than a little realistic that all those things combined show this is something different and that Duff wouldn't sign onto it unless it was gonna be good.

Maybe Axl's dying? That's the only reason Queen did one last tour in 1986 - Freddie was dying and wanted to go out on top.

It would also be a good reason for him and Slash to let bygones be bygones.

I really don't think that means anything. Mainly cause if it didn't sound good I don't know why Duff and Slash would stay and embarrass themselves. They could leave now and look like great guys in the press saying "Axl wasn't ready and we bailed." Sure they probably need/want the money, but I doubt they'll tour with a singer that sounds awful.

Duff just toured with Axl for a year - he knows that Axl's voice is a problem, but he still stuck with him

  6. So....do you think there will be an opening band?

    I assume there will be.

Anyone else hoping for a stage set-up similar to what they used on the Canadian 2010 tour? That was awesome.

The 2010 stage was too high, and if you were in the pit you couldn't see shit.

In 2011 they fixed it and the stage was lower.

  7. Ok before this thread gets locked I have a question in relation. Somewhere down the line they are going to have izzy and steven be part of this thing. They just have to. At which point will it just be the og five or is it going to be the original with all those other guys added in? What do you gn'nerds think?

Adler doesn't know enough of the UYI songs to do a full 2-3 hour set - I can see him and Izzy either coming on for a few songs each night as guests, or maybe the original 5 do a club show at Ritz or something that's an hour long for the hell of it

  8. Which begs the question... do they really need over 2 months to rehearse for Coachella? The answer is no, what does that mean? I have no idea ;)

Zeppelin rehearsed for a full month before their one-off in 2007

So Guns needs over 3 months?

If they're going to be touring, they need to learn more songs than whatever they're playing at Coachella

Who knows - maybe the first weekend of Coachella will be AFD songs with Adler and the second weekend of Coachella will be UYI songs with Sorum?

  9. I saw a show in 2013 in France and he was almost perfect. Honestly i didnt notice any problem on vocals, maybe he didnt reach the very high notes but nothing serious. Probably he was better than the lastest UYI shows. The only thing was that he went out from stage every 20 minutes to take some oxygen (i think).

    (sorry for my english)

The problem is if Coachella is streamed/broadcast live to millions of people and Axl has a bad day
