88 show was better, had more energy. This is good, sounds good, but boring comparatively.
I'm guessing there were more people in the crowd for the 88 Ritz show
Anyone know if the 1987 show was sold out?

To be fair, Axl was facing a dizzying array of lawsuits back in those days....and I gotta say all things considered, he took it like a champ.
But I remember Matt Sorum saying after the 1993 tour ended, that the last thing Axl said to him was "see you in 2 years!"
There must have been a reason for the planned break
-
I wonder if the band's hiatus after 1993 was partially a "let's delay everything until 1997 so we don't have to pay Izzy shit" move
-
They probably didn't want to give Izzy and Adler an equal share of whatever the payout was.
Understandable since they both left the band partnership on bad terms years ago.
But come on, even The Eagles got back together and brought Don Felder back for a tour. Something could have been worked out.
-
Axl in 2009 had a whole wardrobe that he changed depending on what song it was, but he got lazy after a few months and stopped changing clothes during the shows
He had a cutoff shirt like the one he wore at Donington 2006, he had a plaid shirt like the UYI tour, the cowboy hat during SCOM, and other outfits that were probably designed to harken back to his different "eras"

Hope you sniff nothing but good vibes today

That would completely damage Guns N' Roses though. I think the regrouping with Duff and Slash has pushed Guns N' Roses, as a band, over a point of no return. If Slash or Duff leave Guns N' Roses at any point in the future, it will be over in the public's eyes.
Axl has no shame at this point. This is his last chance to make real money in his life. If he blows it...he's done

No its so, Axl and Slash don't have to share the same stage.?
Slash on the tiny stage in the darkness, lights only shine on him during his solos

If they go on stage, do their thing, zero chemistry, Axl retires after it, Slash goes back to Myles.... that will be one of the most stupid things we'll ever witness in the music business.
I take it you've never seen Talking Heads at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame:

What if this tour fulfills Axl's bitter desire to finally fire Slash after he quit on Axl years ago?
I wonder if Slash is actually contracted with the band beyond the Coachella dates.

The closer we get to these shows with little promotion, the more I think Slash's return is only a temporary thing and by next year we'll have another nugnr lineup.
Axl could be using Slash to sell out a year's worth of shows, and then after Coachella, he fires him
Axl wouldn't be above doing that

I don't know if there is evidence that supports Axl specifically would not allow it as you are alluding to.
The evidence: Axl owns the band and controls everything
This isn't a "reunion" because Axl still controls everything and Slash is now just one of his hired hands

But they'll share a stage in front of 40K with cameras everywhere?
I'm skeptical but like hearing rumors. Thanks!
It took over 10 years for Axl to finally allow NewGNR to be photographed together in a band photo

A major brand was about to sponsor the Vegas shows and do something AWESOME to celebrate Axl & Slash reuniting. Unfortunately, the GN'R camp didn't get back to the brand and it all fell through (not surprised).
More free Dr. Pepper?

I don't think Eddie is popular enough to get the GNR interview. I'm sure he'll try though, but you gotta think it will be a bigger name with a bigger audience...Stern, Kimmel, Fallon I think all have a great chance then you have the possibility of it being a magazine or news site like Rolling Stone. I just don't feel Eddie fits in this group, it would be cool and nice of the band to do but not likely.
Its like when Axl went on Kimmel and they were saying first tv interview in 20 years! But Axl had been on Trunk's show a year before....but nobody cared, or knew that.
Axl, Slash and Duff should go on Howard Stern together

GNR doing a small club gig on April Fools Day would be appropriate

VHS is not HD. Blu-ray will do nothing.
Right, but the master of this is somewhere in the vaults and could be converted. It would still be SD, but much higher quality than VHS.

Yeah I just looked it up and by 1991 the Ritz had moved to the former Studio 54

91 Ritz?
Quote05.16.91 - The Ritz, New York, NY
opening act: Raging Slab
set: Pretty Tied Up, Bad Obsession, Right Next Door To Hell, Mr. Brownstone, Dust N' Bones, Live And Let Die, Paradise City, Civil War, Drum Solo, Guitar Solo, You Could Be Mine, I Was Only Joking [Intro] / Patience, Only Women Bleed [Intro] / Knockin' On Heaven's Door, Don't Cry [w/ Shannon Hoon], You Ain't The First [w/ Shannon Hoon], My Michelle, Estranged, Double Talkin' Jive, Sweet Child O' Mine, Welcome To The Jungle
audio/video recording?: audio, video [incomplete]
notes: The third and last secret warm-up gig for the UYI tour. Special guest performance by Shannon Hoon of Blind Melon. Axl mentions how the chorus to 'Right Next Door To Hell' was written about his next door neighbor. Slash says they are filming the video for 'You Could Be Mine' for the new Terminator 2 movie. After 'You Could Be Mine,' Axl asks the crowd, "Have you ever heard the expression break a leg? Well, I think I just did." Axl actually injures his heel and is forced to wear a brace on it for the first few weeks of the UYI tour. Before 'Don't Cry,' Axl says how Shannon's band was covering the song a few years back. 'Welcome To The Jungle' is dedicated to the 3rd Street Hell's Angels. -
Found this, which makes sense now:
Quote10.22.87 - Obsessions, Randolph, NJ
opening act: EZO
notes: According to the promoter of this show, Jeff Miller, GN'R canceled this show because Axl wanted to save his voice for the next night's show at the Ritz in NYC.So Axl knew the Ritz show would be taped and wanted to save his voice. Cool.

Out of all the songs that the band has opened with, what song should they open with for their first reunion show?
Note: I'm re-posting this since I fucked up the poll on the last one
