I wouldn’t mind DJ if it wasn’t pretty damn apparent that this is a paycheck (and strictly that) for him.
Why is he even necessary? Ron has more than enough skill to cover those parts. It’s the same issue when it was Bucket + Finck. Finck’s a good player and DJ does alright, but when there’s someone noticeably better on the stage, I just don’t get why Axl wouldn’t delegate all, or most, of the lead guitar to them. -
LOL. Pretty good recap. And Trunk lobbed softball after softball.would really love to see this again. anyone have links to where it is? I'm assuming since this interview was actually released and broadcasted as official material, it's ok to ask for links, right? If not, my apologies.
Recap:
Axl has always been late.
Axl didn't care about Slash/Duff during the UYI tour cos they didn't care about him.
Axl doesn't sue near the amount of people that he would like to.
DJ bobs his head up and down with a slight grin every time Axl opens his mouth.
No thank you necessary. I enjoy saving people 40 minutes of their lives when I can.
True, but in a bit of fairness to him, it was like 6:30 in the morning. Not sure I'd be prepared to ask too much then either.

That would be great, IMO.
Throw in "Don't Damn Me" and "Right Next Door To Hell" and I'm all in.

I'd be all over this if it were closer to NJ. And I'd mindlessly pray for an Axl-Lemmy duet.

I love how the baby is a side project.

Do you think that will ever be released in anyway, even if its a leak?
It would have to be a leak. I doubt he'd release something that's missing half of the current lineup.

Not sure if it's 100% right but here it goes:
I so want those to be true. I found that CD solo video a few months ago and thought it was awesome, particularly Shackler's, but I think Ron rerecorded over most of that.

It's happened before. In a different way, but Robin showing up isn't out of the question.

Philly 2002.
He showed up at Hammerstein 2006, though. Never saw the old band. Makes me very sad.
Samsies. I had tickets to Sunday’s show too. I can only hope court documents surface one day that explain it more.
Had to wait until the next MSG show to see them (and never heard Bucket wail on Nightrain).

Who invited Asking Alexandria?

Same shit different day. I used to live on this message board day in and day out. I remember the good ol' days of leaks, Chinese D's pending release, Buckethead, Fink...man, those were the halcyon days when anything was possible. It's so past over it's not even funny.
Provided that this was a while ago and I was mostly reading HTGTH at the time, but I have very different memories of this. We look back on the Bucket/Finck era with a lot of nostalgia now, but there was a lot of resentment and apprehension at the time. I actually barely remember reading a good review of a show and that it was a huge struggle to get this band over in the states.

A child born the day Axl & Slash last spoke will become an adult this year.
Unless they did speak the night that Slash drunkenly showed up at his house.

There are better ones but here is one.

Oh... wow... damn. When did that first start appearing?

Forgive him? For things he didn't do to me?
If you think you need to forgive him for taking a long time to release an album you need therapy.- 3

I'm really glad this hasn't been released. Axl's not in top form and a lot of the things that made the new era interesting have left the band (Finck, Buckethead). It'd be great if they waited till Axl was in better shape (vocally & physically) and they had new stuff that was pushing the band forward (that would feature Ron ripping it). If it looks like nostalgia, just hold off and release something else.

I'd like to say it's label/management politics, but Ron did say the lineup hasn't recorded together in 5 years.

No
Not surprised one bit.
Nor I.

What I find laughable is the amount of people who bash Bumble but this guy does the what Bumble does multiplied by 10. DJ is a poor, generic guitar player (listen to Sixx-AM, it's god awful... like Drowning pool or seether) he sells horrible clothes and he has little to no integrity when it comes to GnR "new music is absolutely our main priority, DJ 2011". He will never rock the boat as he knows he's on to a good thing. seems like a nice guy, but I have no time for him.
Bumble and Richard could handle guitar duties in GnR, DJ is not going anywhere though.
100%. The last sentence is the sad reality of the situation.
-
There are lots of reasons that are likely in play:
Label politics
Legal issues from former managers, band members, etc.
Axl’s perfectionism/disillusionment
Current band member schedules
Current band member egos/politics
If GN’R were a nostalgia act they really wouldn’t play Chinese Democracy songs (and it definitely wouldn’t open the shows), he sure as hell wouldn’t take a risk like Governor’s Ball, he probably wouldn’t have done the Up Close & Personal Tour and he’d probably expedite the process of releasing back catalogue songs.
Axl does things, it seems, when he’s ready and when all those other elements fall into line.
-
I don't care what the songs are as long as there's an indication Axl is moving forward and still making music. He could fart into the microphone as long as it meant he wasn't putting Guns on auto pilot.
-
Well, there's no way the March 29th Chile date and March 27th NY show are both happening. Either way, I'm crossing my fingers for a NY warm-up show. Despite Axl's diarrhea, Brooklyn Bowl was a real good time.

Any version with Buckethead

In fact...there is not great difference between this and 2010 tour.
Hopefully the same can be said about the voice.
I'd rather it be the 2006 tour
How much of the antipathy towards DJ is because of his style?

Right!? I was amazed when I started coming here and saw the love the 2002-06 era players get. I clearly remember the GNR Forum world being very hostile towards the new band in the past. Though, in fairness, I think Finck grew on people a little bit.
