  1. The old guys got tired, did way too many drugs, had big creative differences, and, likely, did very shitty things to each other.

The new guys, while clearly Axl's band, seem relatively clean, play better as a unit (it's true, don't even deny), and while some are hired hands, the others have pretty cool ideas that Axl likes working on (remixes, leaked tracks, etc.)

Why they don't get released? That's way beyond me, but I can't imagine the legal mess from past band members, bad management, faulty tours, record execs. in dying industry who are money-starved probably just want him to reunite with the older guys, etc.

  2. Hey Marc,

Can you talk a little about what the atmosphere was like in the GNR camp after the Philly riot in ’02 and the tour’s cancellation? No need to go into why Axl wasn’t there, etc. but I was hoping you could describe what Axl’s attitude was like in the months that followed.

Also, how did the rest of the band handle/respond to the tour’s cancellation?

Once again, big thanks for doing this.

  3. Totally agree, and it's something that I've always said...

The 1999-2004 band had the potential to be HUGE, they could of smashed it by dropping the album in 2002 during the US tour after the VMA appearence and NYC Madison Square Garden show. If they would of released it then, with Axl and the band FULLY behind the record promoting it, I believe we could of seen GN'R hit it big again just like the early 90's. Don't forget, MTV actually supported the Nu GN'R, and did alot of media and interviews with the guys. "MAJOR CHANCE MISSED"... :o

GN'R somehow managed to get there again, and had a second chance to hit it big during the end of the US 2006 tour. After a succesful European tour, and another huge NYC Madison Square Garden show, the band could of exploded by releasing the album in and around the 3 LA Ampitheatre shows which finished the tour (like Merck planned). Even Harvey Davidson was on board with the Better and PC versions of the Goat commercial. "FINAL MAJOR CHANCE MISSED"...

Finck had enough and got the F out (don't blame him), and after a year and a half of silence and inactivity, the band decides to release it. And on top of that, Axl does zero promotion to support the album, as does the rest of the band (and management). With the only member giving a shit being Ron, who travels to Europe to do Meet N' Greets to try to gather some excitement, bless the poor guy.

GN'R missed 2 major chances to hit it big with CD, and they blew both of them in a major way... What a F'in waste of talent and potential. rock3

I still would love to hear specifics about Robin & Bucket's respective departures. Until recently I was going with Bucket's exit statement ("failure to complete an album," etc.) but after reading the "inside" scoop about people treating him crappy, I have no clue what think. It's a shame, the 2002 era was so exciting (sans the shitty reviews and half empty arenas). There was a ton of potential there and hardly any info. out there on it.

  4. November Rain's lyrics aren't as cringemaking as This I Love's though.

Right…so what about lyrics from classic Gn'R hits like Don't Cry or Patience - are they any less cringeworthy than TIL's ones? <_<

    Don't Cry

    Give me a whisper
    And give me a sigh
Give me a kiss before you
    tell me goodbye

    Patience

I sit here on the stairs
    'Cause I'd rather be alone
If I can't have you right now
    I'll wait, dear

There's a difference between "simple" and "hokey" though.

And, for what it's worth, I actually don't care for "Don't Cry (Original)" for similar reasons.

To be more specific, it's not that they're bad, it's that he can do them better. The alternate lyrics to "Don't Cry" are a good example of this.

  5. There's been absolutely NOTHING from the GN'R camp that says any sort of new music releases are on the horizon. I can't imagine why people would be running articles that say otherwise.

Maybe he has a similar source just like the Media Crew has?

"There is a lot more to come in 2014. And MyGNR has got you covered - breaking GNR news FIRST and FAST."

Wasn't there also something about a reissue of Greatest Hits with songs from CD and new ones added (replacing Ain't It Fun and a few other tracks)? I thought it was on wikipedia, but it looks like it's been changed.

  6. I have a feeling that even though they have a South American Tour scheduled, there will be people begging Dizzy to "Come to... (insert South American country here, including those already with concerts scheduled)".

    Expect these to be answered:

    favorite/hardest song to play

    favorite food

    favorite audience

country he would like to visit, he hasn't been to yet

    how axl really is

    Expect these to be ignored:

    plans for the new album

vegas dvd (not that i care)

    relationship with slash

    reunion

why he didn't attend the HOF

    It will be classic Dizzy.

    Exactly this.

And it's for this reason that I'll be skipping this chat. Cool to talk with Dizzy, but, really, it'll be a chat with a million people trying to ask questions that I already know the answers to.

  7. Really timid Chinese guy standing next to me at the June 2012 London gig. Was very stereotypically quiet and polite before and during most of the show, but would absolutely lose his shit whenever DJ took centre stage, and start screaming "DJ ASSSSSHHHHHBA! AAAASSSSSSHHHHHHBBBBAAA!"

Hearing him sing along with This I Love in a tone-deaf Chinese accent in my ear was a highlight of the show. Hard not to burst out laughing.

This is no lie. I think I've seen him in New York.
