  1. People are starting to receive these. The clips I've heard sound good, but some techs are not impressed with the components/layout Marshall used - quite a few are saying these heads should be selling for about half as much as Marshall is charging. In a band setting these studio heads would be pretty good, I agree. I think my preferences are due to style. Lower wattage amps just don't get me the same dynamics and gain structure as 50 or 100 watters. A lot changes in an amp when you take a 50/100w model and try to lower it. But mini heads are clearly selling and they do sound good, so it makes sense Marshall is jumping into this realm.

If I were to spend ~$1,300 on a low wattage non-used amp though, it would be the Friedman JJ Mini.

Think I'm going to snag a 50 watt Katana within a week or two though.

As I understand it, Epic's storefront takes less, and this apparently makes it very attractive.  The flip-side seems to be that people hate the Epic launcher because it's 40% owned by tencent, and tencent is apparently the devil.  Hard to get solid info on it though.

I do not have a fond view of Tencent. I believe they recently became a significant stakeholder in Ubisoft, as if Ubisoft wasn't bad enough about MTX/monetization already. It's alleged the Tencent takeover led to some design choices with For Honor that split the community (I haven't played in months due to these changes).

I'm skeptical of any company that cares more about making money than creating good games. They don't treat games as art, but as revenue generators. If those two ideologies had been kept separate and only mobile games and MMOs had their design affected by revenue generating strategies, I wouldn't have as big of a problem with the mentality. But when RPGs, immersive FPSs, simulators, etc. are being monetized in a way that changes game design, that's a problem for me. So yeah, fuck Tencent.

Do you play on a console?  Anyone following the drama surrounding Metro being moved off Steam?

PC. I'm annoyed. I don't like these dedicated launchers. Uplay is the only one that runs OK. Origin is a bloated mess and Bethesda's is a joke (unsurprisingly). I guess I'll have to download the Epic Games launcher for Metro.

I would strongly suggest holding off on Anthem. It looks terrible. I bet launch will be a disaster. Plagued with issues and micro-transaction nonsense.

I use Steam so want it on there and might wait for it to be on there next year. I think people are being a bit cunty and over the top by review bombing even the other games. Regardless of them doing this deal too close to release 4A Games is a deserving and hardworking studio. Steam needs to offer fairer revenue sharing.

Yeah I heard bad things about the demo and the gameplay I saw didn't look like what I thought it would be. It looks like a combination of ME:A and DA:I with the shooting mechanics of the former and the cacophony of colors and button mashing of the latter. Not sure that's going to be a formula for success, for me at least. I'd have preferred something with a heavier and more impactful feel for combat (like Metro actually), but I haven't played yet myself, so we'll see.

I agree the reaction is perhaps a bit disproportional - but gamers are so sick of MTX and launchers and shitty practices that anything controversial blows up pretty rapidly. Can't say I have too much sympathy tbh.

From what I've heard, Steam's revenue model is pretty fair - they take 30% of sales. I read that retail stores take around 47%. I see from a business sense it makes sense to try to capture that 30%, but is the bad press worth it? We'll find out I guess.

EDIT: Although, 4A Games is not providing the launcher... Epic is, so Epic must be taking a cut of sales too. It makes sense to me to have your own launcher if you're publishing the game yourself, but what's the point if someone else is publishing and taking a cut anyway? Feels like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle.

What makes you think the decision to not release classic live shows is Team Brazil's and not Axl's? Axl is the one who seems insecure about releasing old material, even to the extent of re-recording his vocals for Live Era. I see no reason why Team Brazil, as long as it didn't interfere with their t-shirt business, would object to releasing old shows.

One of the functions of the job of a manager or agent is to push an artist to perform and produce, both for artistic and financial reasons. If Axl is the main reason the band produces so little, TB is complicit in this.

I am trying to understand if someone is just claiming they get confidential information directly from Beta, or if they really are. It would be extremely weird if Beta would disclose confidential information pertaining to the business aspect of her client (Guns N' Roses) with someone, an almost random dude on Internet, who would then go ahead and post about it on a fan forum. It is almost impossible to believe, even in the wacky world of Guns N' Roses.... so I guess it must be true

But seriously, and apologies for not just directly believing you but I am cynical that way, there are so many guys who claim to be insiders and even guys who set up elaborate schemes to fool the fanbase (usually in an effort to get something in return or just because they are weird creeps). So far you are just another one of those who claim stuff. Can you actually point to any evidence that this is all true? For all I know, you could just have been fooled by someone and is now acting according to their plan.

Pretty sure the main individual in question in the allegations discussed in this thread is also the individual who previously concocted a 100% fake interview with a former GNR member. Yet, Pele says TB trusts this guy. What a mess.

Interesting. Unfortunately, it is one more proof of how 'amateur' TB are....

You said he was a penpal of Beta? Wow... that's so childish, immature for a woman her age and she trusted this person just like that?? Have they ever MET in real life?

The other thing that brings my attention is how cheap TB are.... I don't know if it's them or Axl but it feels like they are always going for the cheap options for certain things. They owe money to the musicians, they don't want to share the loot or pay cents to people like Izzy and Steven.

I mean, their whole approach to management is unprofessional and seems to be done under the lowest possible budget.

A lot of this is still just alleged, until TB or the band makes a statement. But yeah, from our view everything looks pretty ridiculous.

    2 hours ago, Pele said:

Agree, and my post above reflects this.

Beta isn't a CEO from a commercially responsible company with a PR team.  She reacts emotionally.  This causes people to then in turn react by saying TM are unprofessional and it goes round and round

You do type as if you know a bit more about the inner workings of TB than the rest of us.

Your right the band doesn't owe the fans anything but a band should respect it's fans and treat them with decency,  don't associate and work with people who threaten certain fans, and also remove people's channels who upload legal content that they can choose to monetize.  They also remove content when they won't release anything from the 'vault' that is actually unreleased, which I don't understand, if you aren't gonna release stuff, let the fans share things.

Also one of the things a forum is used for is to criticize, I'm sure you can find plenty of positive things people have said about the band on this forum

I'm of the view that the band does owe the fans. They don't owe us free things and they shouldn't be chained around the neck to the fanbase. However, they do owe the fans respect. Sicking a habitual troll on well-intentioned fans who have only supported GNR throughout the band's tumultuous and sometimes very disappointing history, is beneath what this fanbase deserves. A fanbase that has tolerated and supported an erratic band that has produced very little content over the last 20 years and has a history of poor messaging/communications strategies.

  6. I wasn't sure if there was a dedicated thread for this already, but I can't find it if there is one.

Was casually reading through the newest trending thread in the GNR section about how GNR is terrible etc., and was scrolling through the "Likes" on the OP and noticed it said @RussTCB "liked" it twice. Saw this pop up again on the second page. Very minor bug, but just wanted to point it out because we know how conspiracy-prone individuals like to claim there's mass liking fraud on the United Sta... I mean MyGNR. Anyway, here are screenshots:

The truth is that I got tired of this band.
The latest developments coincide with my intuition. From the first moment I said that one or two people could not delete videos and channels on YouTube, without the consent of, at least, Team Brazil.
Now, it turns out that while the stupid people who did all this fights in public at social networks, they expose their participation and responsibilities. But above all, with those who work. Yes, TB.

At least, that's what some "W" guy said to several people. And that is already public known.
For that reason, and because if the band is aware and approves the witch hunt on bootlegs (as if they were gold recordings), or is only management responsability and the musicians live in a parallel dimension ... well, the result is that I want to vomit in all of them. But especially in those who authorize this kind of things.

I do not write this just for my channel, "Noise Pollution", but for the channels of many friends who also died thanks to the lack of brains of egocentric fools.
Do you know how many times I saw comments that talked about attending shows of the band after watching my videos?
That was free advertising, Team Brazil. It was part of the most powerful thing you can find in marketing: the organic recommendation, word of mouth, that the tour was good.
But you decided to shit in our selfless work, in the love of the fans.
A band that does not record new music. A band that does not respect its fans. A band that is allied with crazy people to pursue their fans, is not worth being even heard.

I am leaving this horrible band thinking about the gesture of Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails, congratulating the boy who has formed the largest file of bootlegs on the web. They even took some pictures and console recordings were promised.

That's the leader of a band that proposes new and challenging music all the time. The same that Axl admired to the point of "stealing" a guitarist and trying to clone his sound.

These days I feel sorry for Guns N 'Roses.
If admins want to delete this post, or remove me from the forum, I will understand.
But I had to say it. Axl, you let a bunch of wakos and Team Brazil separate you more from the fans than you've ever been.

Shame on you Axl Rose, shame on you!

Well said. GNR has become the worst kind of business: one that operates on a "maximize profit and minimize effort" ideology. Overpriced box sets with very little new/of interest, jacked up ticket prices, one rerecorded song from 20 years ago, shows featuring 1/4th covers, etc.. And you know, all of that would be OK if they at the same time released music, or indicated in any way that this was more than a fucking paycheck to deepen their pockets.

Trent is a great example of how to deal with piracy/fan supported bootlegs. You should embrace the people who care so much about your art (not product, not service, this is supposed to be art ffs) that they've gone at length to spend hours of their own time compiling it and organizing it so others can enjoy it as well (again if GNR planned to release it themselves, that's fine and most of us would pay for it). As long as they are not wrongfully profiting from it and the band isn't trying to release competitive material, I see no downside.

Reminds me of CDPR (video game developer). They don't use DRM because their attitude is basically, "be nice to the fans and make great games and you'll make enough profit and goodwill that you won't even notice the tiny piracy loss on the budget line." And for them at least, it works.

I wonder how many millennials/current gen kids are GNR fans solely because they came across any of the thousands of video and audio recordings on YouTube. That stream of new fans won't come as quickly with the content gone (and no new music...).

It does seem like Axl + TB are to blame. I generally don't like accusing when I have a very limited view of the detail, but from the fans' view, everything looks pretty shitty and TB/the band have done little to correct that.

EDIT: And that stunt where GNR gave like 20-30 front row seats to models in LA pisses me off, in the context of everything else. Find myself thinking this a lot, "If it were just one or two of these issues, I could ignore it" - but their disrespect for fans is rampant.

And if I sound angry about this, it's because I am. GNR was my favorite band for a long time. I've had to revisit and reexamine that adulation over the last few years.

    1 hour ago, WhazUp said:

My favorite development from when all this really went down a few months ago is when Del was communicating with us about the issue, basically just bitching about fans uploading copyrighted work (we are fans, and these recordings/videos help garner new fans and keep existing ones, but that is a topic for another time) and like that same day or close to that same day linked a youtube video of a song not uploaded by that band but some random fan.  The irony killed me on that

You have fans who treat other GNR fans horribly for the sake of "truth" as they unfortunately call it lol.  You have a management team that either endorses their actions, doesn't care enough to do anything about it, or are totally blind to the concept of these videos and are not helping the situation and are having a negative impact on the GNR fandom.  And you have the actual band who probably know nothing about any of this

He was an absolute dick when people first tried telling him the band's (alleged) lackeys were threatening peoples' families. He's almost always come across as a dick now that I think about it. What's his contribution to GNR? He managed a tour back in the day? I read Slash's book and I remember him being there, but I don't recall his exact role in the band's upbringing/career.

Didn't realize he then linked a YT video without approval...

In all seriousness, I do now believe that TB, Del James, and Axl's posse as a total leeches that have hurt the GNR brand more than help it. These hacks shouldnt have been near GNR in a business sense. The blame lies with Axl

I feel odd casting so much blame without being behind the scenes, but it really looks this way. :(

Having problems again. I actually stepped back on HeartGold to play the two Fire Emblem remakes for DS. Very much enjoying New Mystery, but again I am finding myself fighting iTunes, iOS, and my iPod to get it to run. Not a hardware capacity issue at all, just an "Apple are tech Nazis" issue.

EDIT: Fixed. I guess it will become a bit redundant if I make the same post weekly, so instead, just assume roughly once a week I have to do battle with Apple tech.

Highly recommend The Last Kingdom. Almost as good as Game of Thrones.

Actually a better comparison would be Rome (HBO).

Good to see your name pop up!

But, I hated The Last Kingdom.  I thought it was a cheap/worse GoT without much of the political intrigue. Haven't seen Rome.

If you like this sort of thing though, I'd recommend Frontier on Netflix (Jason Mamoa is one of the stars). Its premise and content is far enough from GoT that it doesn't feel derivative at all, but it still has the grittiness and realness that GoT did such a good job of expressing.

MJ was very rich, and his family inherited his fortune. what these accusers want, first and foremost, is money and attention. proof, is in their actions.

but I don't need proof to claim so do I? after all, lack of proof never stopped these accusers of accusing MJ themselves. so these SJW's need to make up their minds: do you need proof to accuse someone of something, or you don't? if the answer is yes, then either show your proof or shut the fuck up. you can't have it both ways when it suits you.

what does it say of a supposed victim, that they want to make a movie about their misfortune and go to great lenghts at showing it during a film festival? those are not victims; those are attention whores. that in and of itself is a red flag that should make any reasonable person cautious.

of course, where there is real abuse, there is grief. there is grief everywhere. but don't go telling your story to the world and pretend you're some kind of hero for "exposing" them. millions of people went before you, and they carried their grief in private.

you could argue, it's for preventing more victims, but MJ is fucking DEAD. you're not preventing more victims, you're making NEW victims (his children who have to endure their SJW attacks)

I don't disagree with any of this necessarily, as I just don't know the details behind this situation. But isn't it odd for a fully grown adult male to surround himself with young teenage boys? Feels a bit too Ancient Greek for me.

  11. I haven't seen the new doc nor am I really too familiar with all of the allegations, court proceedings, etc.. I'm not too familiar with his music either. I randomly Googled his name after seeing this thread and this [new] article was one of the results.

Regardless of whether or not his accusers are lying, isn't it bizarre for a 35 year old man to surround himself with 14 year old boys? There are pictures in this article of Michael in his hotel room with young boys.

Marshall is coming out with a 20 watt Plexi and JCM800 5th complement the 2525. God Damn, thats awesome

I'm not convinced. The price is $1,300 and you can get a real deal 70s JMP or 80s JCM for that money, usually in solid condition. The lower wattage may appeal to people. but 20w is still very loud. For home playing, 20w is still too much IMO, may as well have the real thing in 50 or 100 watts. Also worried about how power section changes to accomodate the lower wattage will affect the tone/feel.

For the mini Jub I think this price point makes sense because you can't get a real Jubilee head at $1,300 unless it's in awful condition. Although now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure I've seen the original 50w Jub combo go for $1,300 - $1,500 in the past (yup one on Reverb now for $1,500).

So I guess people will buy these regardless.

Oh wow. The Kemper is one of the coolest pieces of gear ever made. I was seriously looking at one this past year. Awesome choice. When are you planning on getting it? If its reletively soon you might as well get something cheap. A used Fulltone OCD or EHX Glove would probably be ok with your amp and youd spend less than $100

I'm pretty sure the Kemper has good on board effects. If get a foot controller with it and call it a day. As long as it has a good Tube Screamer or Boss SD-1 built in you'll get superb boosted Marshall times.

I had the Friedman BE-OD. Its a gain monster, even when you open it up and turn the internal max gain down. Honestly, it was a lot of fun at home but it was too much in a band setting.

Might actually be a good choice for @Rovim. Has a lot of saturation so it might be good for the Frontman. That being said, its a pricey pedal.

Maybe grab one used and sell it for the same price once you get the Kemper

I've heard that about the BE OD too, lots of gain. But Friedman recently released a lower gain distortion pedal modeled after the Dirty Shirley - that may be worth looking into too. Not sure what music shops are like around you Rovim, but Guitar Center (yes, they're the devil) here allows a 30 day return, no questions asked as long as the item is in original condition.

If you want an inexpensive upgrade, Id just get a Boss Katana instead of a nice drive pedal. A drive pedal can be $100-$200. For a little more you can get a 50 watt Katana. These are the best bang for your buck amps out there and they get great Marshall tones.

A good drive pedal in front of a Fender Frontman wont really get you quite where you want to go. I had a Frontman for years

    This.

I am currently looking for something that sounds decent, isn't too valuable, and can be lugged around more easily than a half stack. The Katana 50 is so far winning the contest for me, I'll probably get one within a few weeks.

I don't know much about pedals, but the Suhr Riot (or Koko if you're amp can get semi-dirty) and Friedman BE pedals are ones I hear a lot about, other than what ZoSo mentioned.

I was greatly enjoying my playthrough, but apparently the iOS DS emu is not approved by Apple, meaning you can only use the app for X amount of days (7 or less, seems random but always less than a week). The workaround is to delete it and reinstall, which I've done once without issue, but just I spent the last 45 minutes fighting the reinstalled emulator to get it to recognize my saves, without success. Just beat the E4 too, not interested in starting over. Very annoying. I've always disliked Apple for reasons like this, among other things.
