I'm ok with the fact Trent won't release things like TF anymore. If he one day decides to work with Keith Hillebrandt, Charlie Clouser or Danny Lohner I'd get really really excited. Atticus is great but the team that made TF was by far the best Trent ever assembled. There's been Fragile-esque moments here and there over the years but still nothing close to the 'The Great Below' atmospheres for example. Even Robin should get a call. Hopefully the next Ghosts series will feature one of these guys.

    Loved Clouser's work.

This one is something that it is a head scratcher for me. Why Mustafar of all places? I mean the guy didn't exactly had a the time of his life last time around when he was there. It is (for lack of a better word) kind of masochistic from his part

Way back in the drafts (or was it novels?) for Empire or ROTJ (one of the two) they talked about Vader's castle, in this place of (if I'm not mistaken) fire and lava.

In the novel of ROTJ ( I think) Obi Wan describes how Vader got fucked up too.

Islam is a religion, not a race. There is no effective way of knowing someone is Islamic at a body scanner.

Also, the vast majority of Islamic people are not radicalized. Thus, if we just start deciding to go harder on brown folks in the security lines, inevitably we will be stopping 99.999% good, honest, regular people for no other reason than the color of their skin. This is the land of the free, won't don't just shake  a whole race of people down when we know there's only a .0001% chance of them being an enemy.

Its a waste of resources,  it sets a bad example to the world, and it almost never works anyways.

Dan H for head of security.

Paradise City is a cracker, brilliant chorus, amazing counterpoint verses, glorious guitar intro, belting solos...i cant see where its worthy of criticism, for a GnR song it has everything, i can't think of a bad spot on it, Slash is on fire through that song for every little guitar phrase there is, including the stuff on the little bridge bit where Axls doing the 'so far away' stuff.  The lyrics are spot on, really upbeat sing-a-long chorus while the verse is all like...cynical street shit, i love it personally.

    What Len said.

    It's the quintessential GNR tune.

Adler also stood up to Axl and was the only band member Axl got into brawls with.

If something happened to Frank, it would probably be between Matt or Brain with the remote possibility of Steven.

I don't think Axl's got anything against Matt but he's not kicking Frank to the curb. Duff understands Frank and Richard have history and he's played hundreds of shows with GNR... Matt of course is bitter he's not taking part in it for the money part of it (who wouldn't be) and I'm sure he wishes Slash and Duff were able to persuade Axl to have him play.

Yeah despite what he says there's no way Matt is happy playing for The Hollywood Vampires or playing Baron Von Strom (LOL) instead of kicking ass with GNR.

Honestly, these two full albums. KISS is always underrated by rock fans.

I agree that 70's KISS are underrated by rock fans but both of those albums have some turds on them, and I'm a fan.

  7. I gave my fat, spoiled child relatives their presents on the weekend (as they will be away over Christmas) and they got so much shit from everybody they just tossed the stuff I bought them aside and haven't opened it.

Actually, I lie, the 2 year old opened his and played with it for a bit.

The other one still has shit I bought her for her birthday (two months ago) unopened.

    Fucking brat kids.

  8. Man, Steve here has a point.

Not very PC, but it's as plain as the nose on your face.

You know, people of "Middle Eastern Appearance" being singled out for security checks etc...well FUCKING DERR!

I guess it's racist/homophobic/whatever-phobic to point out that the majority of these fuckers blowing themselves up and shooting people over comics are of middle eastern appearance and dare I say it, "Muslim".

I agree, I "like" Sorum. I don't have a problem with him at all, and I rank him HIGHER than Gilby as a Guns member. But having said that, I don't miss him either. Obviously there is a reason he is not there. As long as we have Axl, Sash, and Duff I'm not going to cry about Sorum. Besides I'd rather have Adler back anyways. Frank is fine with me, instead of Sorum. If this line up ever releases a new album, both Frank and Fortus would be elevated to more important members all time above Sorum and Gilby anyways. Only the original 5 can not be surpassed, everyone else really is just a replacement member anyways imo. Sorum just luckily played on the Illusions. Gilby only really played on Spaghetti, so it would be easy for Fortus to surpass him. Frank and Sorum will probably always be a toss up, especially if a new album does happen.

This about sums it up for me.

Never cared for Gilby one iota...Sorum is a few rungs ahead in the "GNR cred" ladder for sure.

Guy's still a fucking cock though (and his drum solo from the Tokyo video is still the shittiest professional drum solo I've ever heard) but points to him for that animal song and all the work he does.

It's a horrendous song, but great message and great cause.

These lists are what they are. They're generally made by someone no real clue and they're mostly for the clicks.

    This.

They're all infuriatingly erratic and stupid too.

Anyone else think it's a shame that some really great riffs appear in mediocre songs? Like Seven Nation Army and Clubfoot. Just a thought.

A lot of Gary Moore's discography is like that.

  11. A bit obscure, but Bill Ward (original Black Sabbath drummer)'s first solo album WARD ONE: ALONG THE WAY (1989) springs to mind.

Jack Bruce sings two numbers on it, it's got a bit of a Pink Floyd feel and it's for the most part, real music.

Ian Hunter/Mick Ronson's YUI ORTA (1988) is another.

Ian Hunter (Mott The Hoople) and the late Mick Ronson (Spiders From Mars) with a fucking grand rock and roll album. Ronson's guitar (on this, and in general) is a total joy.
