  1. No I'm not, I think it would be even bigger if the horrid Ashba/Bumblefoot etc lineup hadn't saturated the market in the past few years.

People like myself who are in or over their mid 30's probably won't be surprised, because they remember/experienced how HUGE Guns N Roses were.

They are a rock institution/staple- in the same vein as ACDC, Zeppelin, Sabbath etc...people go to hear the big hits, the majority of which are all from only a couple of albums.

  2. I know a lot (well, a dozen or so) of people who have said to me (in person) that they'd never go to a GNR show again after waiting 5 hours for Axl to take the stage in 06.

I know that's ten years ago now, and that Axl has pretty much stopped the late starts but I can't really justify calling these people stupid or ignorant for having a negative opinion of him.

Maybe having Slash and Duff back will be enough to bring these people around.

What an exciting list of nominees. I stumbled across the MTV music awards the other day and they were going through the "alternative rock" nominees and one was Coldplay...rock truly is fucked.

    This.

  4. Richard cops shit because he isn't a member of Guns N Roses, same goes for Frank and the anime girl...and all the other people who were in Axl's GNR after Slash and Duff left (and Paul Huge).

It's great Slash and duff are back.

Richard is a better sub than Gilby (in place of Izzy), Frank has sucked since day one in 06.

Amusing that Richard has always given the "new material" speech and been (rightly) ridiculed for it and now it's somehow taken seriously.

Until I can physically purchase it in a brick and mortar store, I ROFL at any talk of a new GNR album unless it's from Slash or to a lesser degree, Duff.

When Slash says they are working on new songs, I'll fucking believe it.

I'm sure I remember seeing an article years back when Ozzy mentioned Axl inviting him into the studio to let him hear stuff he was working on, years before Chi Dem surfacing and Oz speaking very highly of what he'd heard. Guessing it would have been around the turn of the millenium. You can probably forgive him for forgetting a random encounter from years back though.

You're not thinking of when Zakk Wylde was floating in and around the GNR camp in 95?

Zakk couldn't decide if he wanted to be in Guns or Ozzy's band so Ozzy let him go and got Joe Holmes.

  6. I've pondered this and I'm not sure I can come up with a relevant one, besides the AFD Guns N Roses lineup.

KISS- they already did it, they don't wanna do it...it'd be preferable to what KISS is now but I'm OK.

Led Zeppelin- they said it was over after Bonzo died, and if we're honest, it shows. It's not Led Zeppelin without him. Page and Plant would be great, but their drummer is dead too.

Black Sabbath- like the others, it's just too late in the game. I saw them on this THE END tour and I really enjoyed it but it's dumb to be looking at these guys and hoping they come up with Sabotage Part II. Even if they did get Bill, he wouldn't have any say in the songwriting, and you'd just get another turd like anything off reunion/13 etc.

Pink Floyd- just forget it. They reunited for Live 8, Rick's dead and Dave appeared on top of the Wall (and Nick was there)...they're old men now. It's OK.

Deep Purple- Lord is dead, Blackmore and Gillan HATE each other- it's selfish and unrealistic to actually want them to do this.

Metallica- I don't care. They probably should get Jason back though, Trujilio is bogus (despite being a fine bassist)

Pantera with Zakk Wylde- Zakk Wylde is a fucking dickhead. Are YOU cool with that wanker playing Dimebag?

Sepultura- here's one. They should definitely get back together for a nostalgia tour. I don't really like them these days, but they are eligible.

Most other bands I care about mostly consist of dead people so yeah.

  7. Hey, I grew up on Star Wars in the 80's and yeah the prequels were and are a letdown but be fucked if this/that is what I wanted.

Like DD said, it's a movie made by a boardroom/committee, ticking boxes and not doing anything worth a damn.

Yeah, people wanted something that FEELS like A New Hope and Empire, not a movie that just blatantly rehashes them, and in a rush to boot.

I'd prefer the "franchise" was in Lucas' hands, even if that meant no more Star Wars movies.

Killing Han like that was bullshit, I'm not opposed to him dying but there was ZERO build up to it, there was basically zero build up to anything in TFA except Luke at the end.

And I bet they kill him off in the next one just as cheaply.

TFA was absolutely terrible. Horrendous film. Somehow they actually did the unthinkable and made a film worse than the prequels! What a conception?

Totally agree. It looked great, but that's about all I can say for it.

I walked out of the cinema thinking "it needed George Lucas".
