Difference is on the UYI tour, it was a tour for the UYI albums, and they did mix it up somewhat throughout the tour.

Since then we’ve had like 10 Chinese Democracy tours, Vegas residencies, and now the NITL tour, with little variation, so I think we’re entitled in our right to complain

Well, the current tour isn't another CD tour. In fact it is not an album tour at all.

The current tour celebrates the reunion of Axl, Slash and Duff. People come to see sharing those guys of the classic line up one stage again. Its all about these three persons not about promoting any music. I am pretty fine with this   .

Edit: Some peoples hunger for the reunion has been satisfied by seeing those guys once again. But other people want to see them as often as they can after nearly 25 years of being hungry. Fortunately, Axl, Slash and Duff give those people the opportunity to see them at least 2 or 3 times without traveling the world.

It is not GNRs fault that some fans follow every show by watching crappy YT videos and getting bored of the show, even without having been there.

Rock in Rio is a festival. I doubt GN'R with that creepy lineup would have been able to gather all that people solely by themselves. Among the old fans, though, RIR from 1990 is the Rio show that matters, Axl's voice was not the best but the show is a classic and a favorite one. The pictures of Axl wearing the US flag bikers have become classic as well and you can find them illustrating amounts of GN'R articles and news. The Axl from RIR 2001 is one no one wants to see or remember.

    This. Period.

... except for the fact that RIR II was in 1991 ;-)

  3. I am not into YT channels and how they or claims regarding them do work. Did I get it right, you do see who complained and/or do know for sure thats it is not the band, record label, management or copyright owner who is responsible for the strikes?

I just do wonder because from my understanding "the band" just stopped Limulus new Paris 92 version a few days ago. And with regard to the Saskatoon bootleg you are sure that the current actions do not come from the band but from one stupid person named Warchild, Uzi Suicide or whatever?! Especially in the light of the Paris 92 happenings just one week ago I just do wonder that you expect the band being fine with the Saskatoon bootleg or its not the band being responsible for what is happening right now.

Strictly speaking you don't know who owns the copyright of the footage (doesn't need to be the band or their management) Maybe the owner is fine with it being on YT and there's no need for someone playing bootleg police

No, I don't know whos the copyright owner. Neither do you.

But you do seriously expect some individual idiot being that successful playing bootleg police without owning the copyrights?! Have you ever tried to delete some content from the internet without being the authorized person?!

Apart from that, do you have to be the owner of the house to be justified to stop some robber from breaking in?!

Once again, I do not defend the shutdown of all the links but I do not see myself to be entitled to be upset about this action.   Just my five cents.

  5. I dont get all the upset.

I think everyone who was interested in the footage still has it.

In the end we are still talking about bootleg material which is still illegal, at least in most countries of the world. Just because digital bootlegging is that easy in 2018 it does not mean that it has to be accepted by the copyright owner (or the person who claims to be the owner).

Dont get me wrong: I dont defent the shutdown of all the links but I do not understand the overall reaction. Its not that someone has stolen something from you. Its the other way around ... strictly speaking.

i cant believe how many comments are in this thread about "nothing new"  "we've had them songs for the past 30 years" "only 2 songs iv'e not heard" well how did we hear them ? bootlegs ? illegal means ? against the bands wishes ? lets be honest we have spoilt it for ourselves.

    This! Thank you, mate.

Apart from that we will get those "old" tunes in proper quality for the first time which is awesome. But I have learned that this forum always has something to complain about in the event of GNR related news.

Yes, I also don't like the way too high price of the boxset or abscene of Don't Cry and One in a milllion. But its kind of sad that there seems to be nearly no one in this GNR forum (!) you can share your anticipation about the fact that we will get tons of music in good quality for the first time.

At least if you are interested in physical media this release is good news. Think a minute about what we payed for lo-fi bootleg cds/lps (such as Rumbo Tapes, Make my day etc) within the last 25-30 years. Goddamn, just three years ago paid 100€ bucks for this sucker.

  7. Disclaimer: I absolutely dont want to defent the price of $1k. Its about 50% too high.

But I dont think the iphone comparison is that bad: The boxset as well as the iphone are luxury goods. No one of us needs them. No one of us HAS to buy them.

Sure, most people would like to have them. But unfortunately not all are in the financial position to buy them. Thats life. Thats capitalism. Simple as that.

From my point of view the only mistake GNR made is that the vinyl will not be sold seperately or in a bundle with the book for - lets say - 300 bucks. This is what pisses me off. A CD/book bundle in 2018?! Come on!

  8. Well, I don't think that the price of the box is the problem. In fact I think the price is pretty ok if you take into account what a lot of us pay seperately on a regular basis for such merch and memorabilia summed up in the box

The real problem is that you are forced to buy the box (including expensive nonsense you are not interested in) if you want to get the vinyl records. This sucks big time.

Agreed there is a lot of covert, passive aggressive slaying of the legend izzy - when in fact the main reason why he left is because axl was demoting his shares for no fucking good reason at all - using the fact that he didn't shake his ass on stage and/or tour alongside druggies (by the way he has said in interviews that he had no problem touring, axl is the one that made up all this shit of he didn't wanna be this big)

IZZY is the only former member along with SORUM who have their entire dignity and pride in tact - whereas the other ducktale sellouts continue on as if they were the coolest and the rest 2nd to them

since the NITL i have not enjoyed listening to classic studio recordings or old concert footage as much as i have now considering that axl 90% of the time has nothing left in him as far as voice and passion and frank completely butchers every song to the max

there is indeed nothing bad ass about this current incarnation at least with the NU GUNS there was still the murky mystery of axl and his somewhat purpose in breaking through however now its pure cash and that is the only thing that made izzy leave, if you have the business side of things in tact and fair for a founder then you have GUNS recording new songs and being relevant rather than this BS nostalgic act shit

to make matters even more fucking outrageous one of the two new songs they have reintroduced into the setlist is DTJM that was entirely written by IZZY - WHAT A SLAP IN THE FACE - HOMEFUCKS INDEED

By the way: I always wondered what the meaning of "home fuck" is? Since  I am a none native speaker, could someone please explain?

I think its sounds very cool as a phrase used by Axl during his Paris 92 rant or in DTJ :-)

    Thanks.

  10. TSI has not been limited in a "traditional" sense.

But since vinyl went out of fashion in 1993 there are not as many copies out there as of all previous records, especially not in good shape. Apart from that TSI and Lies are the only GNR LPs which have not been reissued within the last years which makes them even more collectiable.

I recommend you to check out discogs. There you should be able to find a proper US or EU pressing for less than 50£. But make sure not to buy a copy which is not rated VG+ at minimum.

PS: I do not know anything about the sound quality of the South American pressings.
