I recently discovered jauce.com and have gone a bit OTT filling out my Izzy collection, even buying duplicates in some cases just because I was already gonna be paying for international shipping so why not add one more CD? :D For those who haven't used the site, it's basically an English interface for buying from Japanese auctions, and when you buy shit it all gets sent to their warehouse for holding, so that you can then get it all shipped to your door in one parcel.

Their admin fees soon add up, but compared to buying "IMPORTS" on Ebay I think the price I've paid is pretty fair. Here's what I've picked up over the last month:

    jcamn806llopu-img720x720-1518419345hdqpg

117° CD (Japan Ex-Rental) - Includes 2 live songs exclusive to Japan, plus it's cool because it's ex-rental. I like the thought that hundreds/thousands of Japanese Izzy fans have rented this CD from their store, and now I own it. Cost 149Y (£1.02)

    i-img560x492-15282500598ulntr43415.jpg

Pills bootleg - 520Y (£3.50) - Setlist on this show is phenomenal. 9 unreleased covers, 3 bsides, 5 album songs.

    online0020-img800x685-1505388277kcxy8r29

Sealed Pressure Drop single - 300Y (£2.00) - Cool because it's a variant I don't own. Only difference is the white strip with Japanese writing, but I dig it :D Them bsides too, they're so good.

    i-img600x450-1527755942gpgnus4869.jpg

Ju Ju Hounds CD - 300Y (£2.00) - Cool because it takes a timeless record and inserts their reggae track "How Much" right in the middle of the tracklist. Imagine a variant of Appetite For Destruction which has Shadow Of Your Love right after Paradise City, it changes the album entirely - that's how I feel about this album. I actually bought two copies of this, and paid only 330Y for the second copy just because it looked to be in slightly better condition and it's still only £2.00.

    theboss_1963-img1200x1054-1509514081egn2

Guns Without Roses - 780Y (£5.30) - Cool because the band plays "Gotta Wanna Go", an original song which Ju Ju Hounds producer says was "inexplicably left off the album". Artwork looks like a bad photoshop, but it is a bootleg afterall so I'd expect nothing less. Still an original silver pressing which are expensive on the auction sites over here.

    beniko7-img407x357-1447226316rqat6111553

Ju Ju Hounds Live EP - 290Y (£2.00) - An official EP which I already own, but fuck it, it's only £2.00 and now I have the OBI Strip :D

I also picked up the Ju Ju Hounds Tour Book for 725Y (£5) as I gave my previous copy away, and I picked up another copy of the Ride On album for 600Y (£4) just because it was so cheap compared to UK prices

Before y'all go rushing off to jauce.com to buy up any rarities, I wasn't joking about the fees. In total when I add together all of the admin fees charged by jauce I've somehow spent £120! It's still a bargain compared to buying them off Ebay over here, but I think I spent £40 on 8 CD's + Tour Book, and then an additional £80 on their fees and international shipping  That's part of the reason why I kept buying more, because I felt like the more I got shipped over the cheaper each CD was going to be.

For £120 in total I'm still very happy, definitely worth checking out if you're looking for GNR imports, bootlegs, Japanese tees/lithos etc, as you can save quite a bit if you buy in bulk to offset the shipping fees.

    Great steals!

With respect to the Ju Ju Hounds tracklist I know exactly what you are talking about.

Regarding the Guns without Roses bootleg I can tell you that I do own this CD since 93.  Hence, the cover definitely isn't a photoshop cover but a first gen computer designed one 😄

Maybe I have a bad pressing..... lol  Glad you like it man. I too have a good system.  I just thought it was cut a lot louder than it probably could have been and thus a little harsh / overly EQ at times.. Different yes.... Compression and Eq will bring out stuff as well as that new transfer.  I can't wait to hear the 192/24K files. Could have been better?  In my opinion yes.  I still think the German 1st pressing is one of the best. I have some needle drops of that one and it's badazz!!  Take care

Since I am german I do own a german original 😄.

Unfortunately I do not own a 5.1 system. Hence, I wont have any chance to listen to the blu ray mix within near future, even if I'd love to so because I expect it to be a great experience. Anyway, I am happy with the new release and to now own proper versions of the demos, even if I had most of them since the early nineties on several bootlegs (Make my day etc).

  3. Ok, my two cents:

I just finished listening to the new AFD vinyl included in the L&L box on my proper stereo system and I think its awesome. I do own multiple vinyl versions of AFD (including the original pressing) and I did hear something new and/or something more in detail in EVERY single song.

In a nutshell: This new version is fuckin awesome, not better than the still killer original but different in a positive way.

Live Like A Suicide was half of Lies. Those 4 are on it, track 1-4 on disc 2. Patience, Used To Love Her and the Lies version of You're Crazy are tracks 7-9 on disc 2. So out of the 8 Lies songs, 7 are included. The only one missing is One In A Million and the only unreleased bootleg from those sessions, Cornshucker, isn't on it either.

Since the LLAS tracks are pre-AFD it makes sense that they are included.

I wasnt sure about Patience and Used to love being included.

Anyway, I always liked the OIAM demo way better than the album version. And Cornshucker is a hidden gem :-)

I'd would have preferred them including One In A Million and possibly Cornshucker. I really don't like that they included 7/8 of Lies. It just feels wrong. I don't like revising history like that.

Funny thing is - there would have been room to do both of these things. Disc 3 and 4 have playtimes of well under an hour.

     7/8 of Lies?!

From the top of my head Patience, UTLH and OIAM are missing.

You're Crazy is an original AFD song. Reckless etc  are LLAS songs.

This makes no Lies songs at all.

I agree. Don't like it either, but I'm not that bothered by it when the show's on. I don't really notice then. The tank takes an incredibly long time though. Last show I went to, me and a friend laughed at some guy starting to film the whole thing. Poor guy will be filming that tank for 15 minutes

I think it looks amateurish, guess I'm not a big fan of Creative Works London.

Yeah, saw some people film the tank, too, cause they thought the band is going on stage within a few seconds 😄

It's on the big screen during the show. It's not a video like the 1991 one.

Ahhh ... good to know. I was at two NITL shows but didn't notice 😄

Nevertheless, it's nothing but awful.  Some people in the GNR camp seem to have a very disgusting taste in visual things. I mean, think of the whole tank thing at the beginning of the show ... it just looks cheap and makes people laugh their asses off. I think this was not intended to be 😄

I've got the record / music collecting game on lock down lol:

I felt the same way: I took about 10 minutes to do the "Well... What's the big deal between $650 and $1000 really" dance.

Then I came to the conclusion that I just wouldn't let them take that much advantage of me. Haven't thought twice about it since.

The pic looks great and familiar, Russ :-)

I wish I had decided like you regarding the box set. But you know what: I spent so much money during the last 30 years for records I rarely listened to and/or will never ever spin again, so why longer blame myself for buying a new special edition of an album I bought 30 years ago and I still listen to on s regular basis. Its not that I can shit money but this album means so much to me that in the end I can look in the mirror and can somehow justify this ridiculous overpriced purchase.

I was ready to buy on the day it was announced, if it had been $650. That's still expensive, but I would've pulled the trigger just to get the vinyl. As soon as I found out it was $1000, I went from paying $650 to $0 because all I wanted was the vinyl. I can listen to everything else via streaming.

This describes exactly what happened to me except for the fact that I said to myself "even 650 are so ridiculous that it doesn't matter if I pay 300 more" and then just clicked "buy".

I am a cd and record collector for 30 years and I wantd the vinyl of the demos so much. I was not willing to pay 180€ for four CDs only, so I decided to pay 950€ the whole package instead and being forced to buy lots of crap I habe exactly  zero interest in, like rings, fake tattoos, copies of flyers (I do own originals) and so on.

I blame the management/band for not releasing a stand alone vinyl issue of the demo recordings. This is such a fuckin bitch move.

  10. Ok, what I really want to know is, if there is one person on this forum who bought the locked n loaded box and has the balls to "confess".

I did right at the second when the pre-order was set and kind of regret it today. One second I have multiple reasons for justifying my purchase to myself and the other I cannot believe I was so hyped by this thing and so stupid to click "buy" without rational thinking.

Anyways, am I alone? Will I be the only person on this planet (or at least on this forum) who will own this box filled with some music and lots of crap?!

Yea super accessible. Send me Jackie Chan/checkmate please

He was talking about stuff being definitely released on bootlegs which you had to hunt for years by leaving your house and having much luck. Nowadays everyone has access to this stuff within seconds whilst sitting naked on their toilet.

He was not talking bout stuff rumored to be existing.

All these years later I'm not the biggest fan of that tour.

Give me something from 1991 when Izzy was still there, and the only "addition" musician was Dizzy. Or something from the Skin N Bones tour like the recently leaked Saskatchewan show.

Hell, a remastered and uncensored Ritz 88 would be awesome on Bluray!

I cannot understand why everybody is screaming for an official Ritz release?! We already got that show for years.

By far more I want something which hasnt never been seen by anyone of us instead of something which everyone has seen a million times, even if the quality would be a little bit better.

I don't want Paris 92, Ritz 88 or any other of the shows of which pro shots are circulating for years. Give me Ritz 91, Wembley 91 or whatever. Otherwise it would be the same as with the AFD demo songs everybody complains about.

  13. I wondered this a million times, too. Lots of things speak against this show as a representative live release of a band at the top of the game or at least their commercial height (even little things like Axl not wearing a bandana). I think Tokyo was chosen because there is long history of releasing live material/albums recorded in Japan. Think of all the Budokans albums for example.

Anyway, the better question is: Why is Tokyo still the only show released to date, especially taking into account that it isn't their best/representative show?!?!

Lots of  bands (e.g. the Doors) did release a quick shot medicore live album during their heydays but did correct this mistake sooner or later by opening their vaults or - at least - by adding one or two more better live releases.

After more than 25 years since the Tokyo 92 release and a current three years (and counting) reunion tour it's NOW time for GNR to do the same. There is absolutely no reason not to do so!

The current Saskatoon-gate alone should have shown the last person within the GNR camp that there is a massive need/hunger for such a release!

But hey, why complaining?! We can order GNRair pins and sunglasses instead.
