  1. The point is, sometimes you regret behaving like a civilized grown man instead of a ridiculous cunt and punch an asshole in the face and you think about it for ages, but as you're not as low as ridiculous cunt, you're not gonna sink to his level. How many times has Axl said he'd hit someone? How many times has Axl actually hit someone? How many times did they actually catch it on camera? Is Axl being nice to a fan any more than what you expect when you're treating him nicely, and you've supported him for ages? Is he doing more than what's expected of him?

  2. Listen to the second Dead Daisies album and listen to his lead parts and THEN come back and tell us he's nothing special.

I suppose people like Slash, Bowie or Trent Reznor must be tone-deaf for thinking he's special too.

Slash - music legend. Bowie - music legend. Reznor - music legend. All like Fortus.

Dude on internet that doesn't play instrument thinks nothing special. Fortus must suck.

    Seems legit.

It's called having an opinion. Sorry I forgot I'm not allowed to have one cause you said so.

  3. No he looks good because he's an incredibly talented musician. From what I've seen, he would have no trouble with Bucket's parts. How is he supposed to get songwriting credits when no music is ever released?

Yeah but what did he add to CD even? I mean even Bumblefuck got some chops and solos in on that record.

  4. People with musical talent recognize that he is incredibly versatile and talented. The dude is a monster of a guitar player, albeit with a shitty guitar tone in my opinion. And a hell of a showman. Don't know what else one could ask of him.

What's he done though, outside of Psychedelic Furs and pop musician session work? He's never done anything for Guns except look pretty and play his parts competently. That's kinda the bare minimum for a rhythm/lead guitarist in what's supposed to be an A-List band. Not exactly anything necessarily meriting the love he's gotten. He only looks good because the other guitar players were so shit.

  5. ^^^

Yeah, guessing. I said "I do believe". I think Axl will try to release the second half of what he considers one double album. It's also "done" or closed to being finished, so my guess is he'll try to release it yeah.

My first line was in connection to what I've said earlier: Axl is the only one who decides who is in the band. I don't think Axl will work on music he doesn't like. And I don't know if Slash will agree to work in Axl's conditions.

But I get the sense Axl is not gonna expose himself to lawsuits or potential threat to what he has built for so long. Even if they'll be good friends all of a sudden.

And again about Pitman: Axl used a few of Pitman's ideas on every song on the album, and one of them was written by him. That's a strong confirmation Axl is satisfied with him. That, and 17 years or so of being in new Guns.

Axl also liked DJ Ashba. Axl hasn't had the best eye for talent in a long time.

Precisely. Axl forced out Slash, Duff, and Izzy-- and he replaced them with Ron, DJ, Pittsman, etc etc.

It's like the 92 Bulls throwing out Jordan and bringing in a fat 87 year old lady with rheumatism.

  6. axl usually prefers to fight women.

A women beater. How sad and pathetic.

"Former Guns 'N Roses drummer Steven Adler was sentenced to 150 days in jail on Thursday for attacking two women in separate domestic violence incidents, which also violates his probation from a 1997 conviction in another domestic violence case.

He pled no contest to two counts of battery in a dating relationship and admitted the probation violation in West Los Angeles Municipal Court. Adler was also sentenced to three years of summary probation, with the conditions of undergoing a year of domestic violence counseling and a ban on using illegal drugs. Additionally, a protective order was issued by Commissioner Joseph S. Biderman in respect to both victims. Adler is required to turn himself in to the court at 1:45 p.m. on October 29 to begin serving his sentence or show proof that he's turned himself into a city jail.
The two incidents in question occurred on January 27 and on June 7, respectively. The first erupted from a verbal argument spawned between Adler and a 43-year-old woman in his North Hollywood apartment over his alleged drug use. The victim was allegedly thrown against walls and furniture during the attack. She called 911 for assistance, however, Adler had already left the premises and couldn't be located at the time.
He was eventually found in the spring, living in a condominium in Century City, California, where he was taken into custody on an arrest warrant regarding a probation violation. He was then booked and released after posting bail.
The warrant had been issued in August of 1997 for failing to appear in court for a February of 1997 domestic violence case, which involved the woman he was living with at the time. In the 1997 case, Adler pled no contest to disturbing the peace and was sentenced to four days in jail. He was also placed on three years of summary probation, with a condition of attending 52 Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.
In the spring arrest, Adler was charged with this probation violation as well as for the January incident. While he was awaiting his trial, he allegedly attacked another woman at his condominium on June 7. Adler allegedly pushed the 35-year-old woman's head into a wall and threw her clothes off a balcony during a dispute over money."
Theres more legal trouble for the alumni of Guns N Roses.
Guitarist Slash, a.k.a. Saul Hudson, was arrested at an L.A.-area recording studio on the weekend for allegedly assaulting his estranged girlfriend. The altercation was said to have taken place in a room at the Le Parc Hotel in West Hollywood on July 19, but the unnamed woman apparently didnt lodge a complaint until later in the week.
Police officials appeared at the Sunset Boulevard facility Saturday evening (July 24) and transported the guitarist to a West Hollywood police station. He was booked and released on a $50,000 bond. Slash, who left Guns N Roses in 1996, was in the middle of a recording session for his new Slashs Snakepit album with producer Jack Douglas at the time.
According to a source close to Slash, the arrest was the latest in a week-long series of accusations and counter-accusations.
There was a lot of dont get mad, get even going on, says the source. Theres more
to this story than meets the eye, and when it all comes out, Slash will be vindicated. The source added that contrary to published reports, the couple had not been living together.
Friends and fans of the laid back guitarist are finding the story hard to believe. He never even gets mad, much less violent, says one associate.
The top-hatted rocker has previously had accounting problems related to his ex-wife, Renee, but no criminal troubles. Former Guns drummer Steven Adler, however, recently served almost three months after he was convicted of assaulting two different women in unrelated incidents (see Slash Sues Former Business Manager, Adler Sentenced To Harder Time ).

  7. How about something like this?:

First 1:20 of the song is Keith Richards, then from 1:20 is Mick Taylor. Solo sounds nothing like the album version.

Well the Stones for me would be highly regarded for their interweaving guitar lines and cool tunings rather than guitar solos per say. I can't honestly recall an iconic solo from the Stones (happy to be reminded/corrected) so to me, the comparison doesn't apply.

That said, I love when rhythm & blues bands mess with their tunes, however their genre was built around jamming; its still very much a part of the live experience and most of the tunes are built from massive jams anyway (read about how Cream wrote their music with Eric Clapton) so its ok.

But if you take bands where they have a heavy hitting guitar personality, say Pantera for example..say they reunited with Zakk Wilde and he started doing his own solo for "Walk" or "Cemetery Gates" on the tours a lot of fans would be really pissed as they come to the gigs to hear the solos live as much as see the band.

I never minded extended jams of Nighttrain by Slash because he recognises the love for the original solo and always keeps it in there, even with 12 minutes of noodling stuck in around it. In fact, Slash himself used to fuck with solos early in his career frequently going way off track in AFD songs on stage but he stopped doing it. I'm willing to bet its because he realised he was diluting the fan experience and his impact in the live arena.

  8. It'll be at least 10x better than Chinese Democracy, that much is certain

    Yeah sure how so ?

Slash's albums are good but generic as it gets hard rock, if CD sucks for you how you can expect that Duff or Slash would change thing ?

What could Slash contribute to Axl's songs (welcome CD) solos ? There were amazing solos on CD (and in fact Slash hans't written better solos since GN'R days). We all know that it's unlikely that they all will be in the same room writing tunes together.

It won't be a collsaboration if they are able to make a record it will be "

    - Axl singing on Slash's and Duff generic hard rock/punk rock

    - Slash and Duff playing on CD alike tunes written by Axl

    - maybe maybe Axl&Izzy can create something really good.

Keith Richards and Mick Jagger produced shitty albums in their solo careers but together they made magic again after they reunited.

  10. Here's a deal that works:

Axl still owns the name. Slash, Duff etc have said they don't care who owns the name, they were only bugged by HOW Axl got the name and the lack of mutual respect there was.

So, it works like this: Axl still owns the name, but they sign a legal partnership which makes them equal partners in Guns N' Roses, which is owned by Axl. They're not employees, just equal partners in a business at that point.

It's like if you're an Executive in a company founded by someone and they promote you to full Partner, well, they still own the company but you're not exactly their employee, you're now their full partner.

That's legally how GN'R worked from 1992 to 1995 and Slash and Duff seemed to have no issue working in Guns under that arrangement. They only had a beef when Axl dissolved the partnership which they were a part of and became sole partner.

  11. Everyone around here seems to love Fortus, or at the very least, he's the only member of NuGNR outside of Dizzy whose existence is tolerated, even by people who aren't really fans of NuGNR.

Why? Is it because he looks like Izzy?

I think Richard Fortus is perhaps the most overrated person ever to be in Guns N' Roses. He's all style and no substance. He only is tolerated because he has a "rock n' roll" image and isn't totally terrible live.

Fortus has been in nuGNR 13 years and he doesn't have a single songwriting credit to his name, he's an okay guitarist live nothing special, his major work outside of Guns has been simplistic riffs in pop songs...Yet, I see some people, even classic GN'R fans, saying he'd be an acceptable road replacement for Izzy in a reunion.

    Why?

  12. By the sounds of things, until Axl gets back in touch with who ever, there's not much happening in Axl's world that he cares to share with the world. Behind the scene's he is probably dealing with all sorts of other stuff, legal etc. Maybe he plans to put his voice to another video game, who knows? maybe he is searching through his back log of sounds in hope of putting something together. We all know, the only true Gn'R was the Slash era band ;)

Slash era GN'R had 80 new songs written when he quit. Maybe one day we'll hear that.

  13. What is Axl saying in that interview about Donnington anyway?

I've never really understood it. Like what does Maiden stand for... what is their political statement? What is he taking issue with?

I think at the time Iron Maiden was seen by some as being sort of right-wing and they had their very political songs like The Trooper and such and I guess Axl and the guys in 1987 didn't care for that

As I recall, Guns N' Roses pretty famously hated opening for Iron Maiden and tried numerous things to get fired from the tour. In that context, seems as though Axl's statement might have been one more deliberate attempt to piss them off enough to get kicked out. :)

They wrote "It Tastes Good, Don't It?" to be as obscene as possible just for the purpose of getting kicked off the tour.

  14. Marc I have a question:
How close were Axl and Slash?

Like were they actual friends, or closer to business partners who just got along for the sake of the business? Were they the type of guys who would hang out aside from "the business" aspect of things?

  15. ZERO COVERS. If this ever happens, I'd prefer to just hear their songs and not any covers. That, would be ridiculous, after all of this time. Why waste any energy on covers??

Classic/UYI GN'R ALWAYS did covers though. It arguably wouldn't be a return of the classic lineup without a cover or two

Their last album and last single were covers. In order to prove they still have it in them, no covers.

  16. I want a reunion record to start off with a 20 minute long Yes style suit - a multi-piece epic rocker. "Welcome Back (to the Jungle)"

I'm literally listening to Close To The Edge as I'm reading this, and just thinking of that (despite how insanely different these bands are) would be crazy amazing to hear. Would truly make an incredible statement.

That's exactly what I was thinking.

Imagine a multi-part shuffle akin to Close to the Edge but with Slash and Izzy's guitars playing off each other and Axl wailing, leading into various musical sections, each could be it's own song, leading to a rip-roaring rocker more powerful than Jungle but as grandiose as November Rain.
