  1. Catcher was played?  Nice.  I'm a big fan of that song.  I can understand feeling it was tinkered with too much and better versions of it went unreleased, but I disagree when people write it off as a middling Axl/NuGuns song.  I think if it had released on the Illusion albums it would be appreciated like Breakdown or Yesterdays.

Is the song not about John Lennon and his killer? Or did I pluck that out of thin air

I heard something about Axl writing a song that was at least in part about that.  I could see Perhaps being that song. I thought Catcher had some stuff in it that was about Lennon as well.

"how a body took a body.  Who gave that boy a gun?" and all the na-na-na's in Catcher.

How fucked up the situation is that the die hards fans of the band instead of being given access to it before the rest of the public in  2023, instead we are listening to the new single via a phone recording of a fuckin jukebox with chatters from a bar...

  4. Is Perhaps the song with the most amount of lyrical content and song emphasis that relates to the break up of GN'R?  I know Axl has said his song lyrics can mean more than one thing and I think there are scattered lyrics across a number of songs that could be about the break up of the original band and UYI lineup but I feel like Perhaps is the song that has the most content of lyrics that could be a reference to the break up

but people in the crowd screamed for TWAT

Did that really happen?  I don't follow what goes on in the Axl/Slash/Duff touring that deeply and I didn't know a ChiDem song had become a recognized enough song for the crowd to ask for.

TWATs a great tune.  Happy if it's starting to get recognition as being a top-tier track

  6. Any links to a video that shows highlights from the show?  I haven't seen this much positivity around Axl on here in a long time (that's not an insult to people who tend to be hard on Axl and/or have felt the semi-reunion has been too much about touring or too underutilized)?

  7. Reflecting on a new album, I was talking to my family about how writing new material seemed to be somewhat of a hurdle after Appetite For Destruction/Lies.  A good chunk of the UYI songs were pre AFD material finalized.  Some were entirely new, I acknowledge that.  I feel like too much success CAN (but doesn't always) make it hard for bands to create new material.  After the success and exhaustion of the historic UYI tour (on top of tensions and issues reaching a point that would lead to the band breaking up), I get the impression GN'R was facing difficulty writing new music but once GN'R essentially ended, Axl wrote an insane amount of songs.  You've got 14 songs on ChiDem and I know a lot of unreleased ChiDem material are song concepts and not really songs, but you've still got potentially another 12ish songs good enough for an album sitting in the vault.

That is TWO ALBUMS worth of material Axl wrote following UYI.  I think that's impressive for someone who has (rightfully?) been described as lazy and someone who reached the top and realized somewhere that he and his band would never reach anything close to their glory days height again.

Aaaaand the Alternate Democracy YT channel is gone.

I saw that.  There were some good songs on there.  Perhaps is a great track :/ The lyrics about being the only one left and perhaps being wrong make me wonder if Axl was reflecting on the situation he found himself in at that point of his life and the band.  Great song.  Sad that it sits in the vault unappreciated.

I've been reflecting on this lately, there is so much good unreleased Guns N' roses material.  From the Illusions era you've got Just Another Sunday, Sentimental Movie, Bring It Back Home (I guess this was right after the Illusions?), then you've got all of the unreleased ChiDem stuff.  Entirely new music would be great, but just finalizing all of these tracks that have been leaked over the years and giving them a proper release would be maybe more ideal.

One thing I have noticed, and I don't mean to offend, I do think GN'R fans are hard to please.  I've lurked here for years and people were absolutely done with ChiDem era GN'R.  Fans are now bored with GN'R now being a legacy touring act (I can understand that) and feel ChiDem Axl/GN'R was more interesting than what we have now.  Fans are dying for release of the rest of ChiDem GN'R material now when before all they wanted to do was move on from it.

  9. On the note of Hard Skool seemingly not have met expectations, possibly making Axl less enthused about finishing Chinese leftovers and releasing them, I really believe Hard Skool is a fine song.  Like if it were on the Illusion albums and we'd have 30 years of digesting it, I honestly think people would view it as better than a filler track but not as good as a great deep cut from the album, as I said, it's simply a fine song.  It's good.  It's not bad, it's not excellent.  Certainly if it ended up on ChiDem in place of something like Scraped, it would have improved the album.

I do think Absurd is a clear step down from Silkworms.  Silkworms is a great song, you may not like the song, but I really believe if you take it for what it is, it's a great tune.  There is a brutal honesty on a type of female in those lyrics that were muted and toned down for Absurd that are just electric with the sleezy sounding music of the song.

That Youtube channel that had been hosting unreleased ChiDem material has been taken down after being up for a few weeks.  There's some good songs Axl is sitting on.  I think it's disappointing that it seems all or most of this will never be finalized and released.
