No, I wasn't I used my functioning ears to discern good from bad. He isn't his 90s or  00s now. But in 2021 he was by far the worst he ever sounded on those opening shows. He got better but it was marginal in comparison to what he's doing on this tour. No way would 2021 sing back in black or even NV with body/rasp. This year is different. Not a complete overhaul but an improvement

I have to respectful disagree with you on this. I was there and got really good seats at MetLife Stadium. I was dead center. His performance was really good!  He didn't  sound as bad as you portray him to be. The MetLife show was the third show last year.  As you know, Axl has always had an issue with the first show of any tour. It goes back to his prime. It is what it is with him and the first show of a tour. In the years that I have been  following GNR, it seems like the  first show of this tour was an exception.

I would have thought that unless confirmed officially, it's pure speculation or rumor.

No other sources have back up any of these claims mentioned.

I find it hard in understanding why people feel it's comfortable to discuss people's health or mental status more so those they don't know..

The fact a majority here actually believe this might be true without any official confirmation, who are now medical experts of the ear, nose and throat specialist kind or mental health professionals.

How about we show some respect and dignity and not get to deep into the rabbit hole.

Clearly to some there are no boundaries...

I agree with your post. I think this has always been the case with people in general. I know that people have speculated about my health because of my disability. It's something that society needs to work on.

With that being said, something is up with Axl. He wouldn't be sleeping at the stadium if he was ok with his mental health. I hope he's ok. Lastly, I think that fans need to respect his health status whatever it is.

How do you explain the US tour last year? He might have prepared but it was not enough and the results spoke for their self.

Regardless. Anxiety attacks are no joke, he is trying and I hope he takes a long stint away from the internet. A little criticism is fine, but at present almost every post/article about him is saying how shit his voice is.... Not about to say he's excellent, but I think he's actually put on some great shows. Of course Sweden rock had all the journalists and he wasn't really great that night, that's unfortunate... And it's unfortunate that one article highly circulated can effectively change the minds of your average fan.

We are used to Axls ups and downs, I'd also sag the majority here are quite critical of his voice and say it how it is and the majority here are pleased with his recent efforts. I know I am. Far more prep work, he looks better and the set is Luke 1% less stagnant.

You brought up the U.S. tour. Were you there in person? I saw them perform at MetLife Stadium last year. Axl's voice was good. I think people are expecting how he was previously in the 80s and 90s. You can't expect that from him nowadays. Those days are gone.  He's performing pretty good. As others have said, I think he tries too hard at times. I  think that's always been the case with him. It's just as fans we don't see what's behind closed doors.

If GN'R do another US tour any time soon, they will be barely be able to fill arenas this time around. The interest in just not there for the band to tour the US. This was evidenced by the embarrassingly low ticket sales and turnout for their last run through the US.

Joan Jett/ Poison/Def Leppard/ Motley Crue originally had ticket prices for $250 at Citi Field. They couldn't sell it. The last two weeks ticket prices dropped tremendously. The section 500s were going for $80. Section 100s were going for $90. I could have gotten a ticket for myself on the day of the show, but chose not to. I had two graduation parties to go to on Saturday so needed to rest.

Those 4 could not sell out a baseball stadium in the biggest market of the United States combined. Last year, GNR sold out MetLife Stadium by themselves with NJ still being hit hard with Covid. At least for this  NJ/NYC area, the market is still there for GNR.

I mean, I would rather see a short great set than a long lackluster one. It's not just about set length. And I'm not sure a band equally known for their lead singer's shitty live vocals and their hefty reliance on backing tracks is the bar to which I'd like to hold GN'R. Also hard to compare a tour with four headliners (Jett, Poison, Def Lep, and Crue). Of course those sets are shorter. You're paying to see four bands.

Guns play for a long time. They put on a very good live show, albeit one with deep musical flaws. Feels to me like all of this should be non-controversial, but alas, this is the internet.

Yeah, but all four of the bands need each other to do a stadium show. Out of the the four Def Leppard can still be a headliner for an arena show. The others no longer can.  Furthermore, ticket prices have dropped tremendously for the Joan Jett/Poison/Def Leppard/Motley Crue show. Promoters over estimated the show. Tickets were at $250 for Level 100 seats at Citi Field. Now they are going for $90. I would go, but I have graduation parties on Saturday.  GNR can still do a stadium show by themselves. Lastly, Tommy Lee has been bowing out for the show. He somehow hurt his ribs and can't drum. It stinks for fans who have paid tickets for the. show.

  6. I think this is the first time that there was an Axl mini  rant. I miss that about him. I used to like the rants.

To me it looked like he was counting and/or listening to the drums and trying to just play the song and listening for changes. Nothing weird in my opinion.

It could very well be that he was listening to the drums. I just noticed the facial expression. I didn't think it was weird or annoyance. I just thought he didn't look happy at that moment the camera was on him.

As the most chill person in the band (or the main 3) I can’t even think what he would be annoyed about? Probably just ‘locked in’ trying to doing a good job on the tune.

Maybe but his look wasn't really too happy.  I'm not sure if it was annoyance.  I don't think it was. The camera shot, though, just seemed like he wasn't happy.

Anyone else worried by the body language on SOD by Slash ans Duff...this whole thing coming to an end after this tour maybe?

Or am i reading too much into 1 performance

I'm not but I will say that Duff's facial expression was interesting when the camera went to him during Slash's solo. It didn't look like Duff was too happy. Axl was smiling at Slash. Slash was busy doing his thing as usual.

They weren't about fireworks and pyro etc when they were releasing new music, off their face on drugs and genuinely the baddest band on the planet. they didn't need all that stuff. the spectacle was them on stage. but now they're charging waaay more than in 1991 (inflation considered) and they're not badasses anymore, they're not releasing new music, they're not racing round the stage and captivating the audience. So they have to offer more. If GnR want to be more punk, then they can play smaller arenas and get down and dirty and make it a punk experience. They're about as punk as the queen is these days. If all those other bands can do it, so can they. the only other band of similar stature that dont do it, are the chilli peppers. and they are shite live. 90 minutes, not great vocals and gone. every other band gives you the full experience. If they aren;t giving us new songs, amazing stage show, or being captivating badasses MFs, then charge 50% less for the tickets. That's why it's a cash grab. They're charging premium prices for a standard show

You keep bring up the cost of the ticket. I can tell you that in the most expensive part of the United States (NJ/NYC area) the tickets that I paid for last year at MetLife Stadium was about $130 with fees. That's the average ticket. Red  Hot Chili Peppers are charging $250 face value. Fees are not included and these were not resell.  The Motley Crue/Def Leppard/Poison concerts is about $$250 as well with no fees.  Out of the rock genre, Metallica charges the most amount per average ticket.  https://loudwire.com/study-classic-rock-concert-tickets-most-expensive/

Well, not really 'funny'- it was Saturday night and I was out with friends and not glued to the internet.

Thanks for keeping an eye on my posting habits though. It's nice to have fans.

Not that it matters, but I'm not sure how saying I wasn't watching streams and asking others what it was like qualifies as 'criticising' though. Still, good to see people keeping up with the cliche of telling anyone who dares to say anything not positive not to post anymore.

Glad you enjoyed the streams so much.

Then don't reply to someone's post. I wouldn't have mentioned anything, but you took the time to run your mouth on my post. Next time shut it and don't try to be cool on here by following with the crowd. That's all.

Haha- there's one of my 'GNR gig bingo' predictions.....keep em coming!

It's funny how you didn't post anything after the positive reviews.  You opened your mouth the other day and in my post..  Maybe keep it quiet for a change rather than always criticizing.

Have you heard any of the show tonight?

When Axl sounds good, this place is very positive. We want to hear him sounding great. But his voice failed him 8 songs into the show...

I've been trying to follow, but the audio keeps cutting in and out. It's debatable that this place is positive when Axl sounds good. That's all I'm going to say.

  13. I would have to say no. It really goes back to the business decision of Axl  keeping the GNR name. If he had released CD as a solo artist rather than under the GNR name then I can see a few songs becoming mild hits. I think CD, Better, IRS, and TWAT would have worked.  No matter what, though, people wanted to see Axl reunite with Slash even at that time.  I remember getting into discussions with people at that time.  Rob Zombie broke out of White Zombie at the time.  I just think Axl could have gone that route of Rob Zombie at the time and then reunite with Slash  and Duff sooner.

Anybody still hearing Hardschool on their local radio stations? Haven't heard it since last year and even then I only heard it two times .. Meanwhile RHCP's garbage single still all these months later is getting played to death on multiple stations, sometimes even on two stations at the same time! I don't think there's any interest or "appetite" in a new Guns album outside the hard core fans

There's only two rock stations in the NYC are, which are Q104.3 and WDHA 105.5. Q104.3 is classic rock. They play lots of GNR and Metallica now. They even play Oasis and stuff from the 90s/00s.  WDHA play classic and modern rock.

I listen to Spotify nowadays.  It seems like FM radio stations are a dying breed.
