Just to clarify regarding copyright, it is stated in Kat's lawsuit that she doesn't claim copyright of the photos she took while she worked under a written contract (which explicitly said that GN'R would own all rights, including copyright, "in perpetuity"). She claims copyright of the pictures she took during the long periods she worked without a written contract (and which seem to consist the vast majority of her work for GN'R) with emphasis to 145 photos that she registered with the US Copyright Office after her working relationship with GN'R had ended (I suppose because she has a stronger case with these 145 photos).

GN'R claims that since she agreed upon those stipulations by signing written contracts, it means that they also apply to the periods she worked under an "oral agreement" (because, I guess, "families don't need contracts" - ridiculous).

In the U.S., oral agreements can be viewed as a contract. If she signed written contracts that had previous stipulations and both parties agreed to them again via a conversation then it can be upheld in court. In my opinion, both parties should have worked on a new contract rather than based on assumptions.

  2. I'm not buying the copyright infringement by Kat. I would be shocked if GNR didn't present documents to her regarding her photographs. I think that GNR is correct with that aspect. Regarding the sexual harassment, I think that needs further investigation.  I'm going to withhold further judgment on this until there are more facts. I don't think those facts nor evidence will be displayed for public consumption, though. In all likelihood, the suit by GNR and countersuit by Kat will be  settled privately.

For those that are saying this is the end of GNR just relax!!! That thinking is hyperbole. Most cases are settled out of court, which I think this will happen with this case.

It sounded like he wasn't allowed to be, honestly there might be some shady shit we don't even know going on since the entire reunion started. If Axl himself can't even say something about a song, someone else could possibly be in charge. Maybe the band has really become a business more than we ever thought and they got paid out to reunite, hell what if the Axl/Slash reconcile wasn't even real they are just bound by contract.

I strongly believe you are overthinking things. If money was the sole reason for them to reunite, it would have happened sooner. If I remember correctly, Slash stated that they would reunite for the right reasons. This was before 2015.

@Ralphelmosays there's going to be another album later. I think Myles was uncertain because they didn't have concrete plans at the time.

    Yeah so after that.

That would be cool, although idk how well Axl would be able to do back to back nights.

It wasn't back to back nights. They gave Hetfield a break between the two dates. They also spread the tour dates, which will go into 2024. I think the 2023-2024 tour dates are limited as well. Someone else had stated that what may also work is to do one month on the east coast. Take another month off and then the third month tour the west coast.

I do think somethings will change. I think they'll do more arenas during the next tour. They haven't played at Madison Square Garden nor the Prudential Center in six years. I'm also expecting them to cut it down to 2-2.5 hours a set. I think the 3+ hours will be gone.

Lastly, some people are talking about retirement. I saw Iron Maiden for the first time last year. Bruce Dickinson is 65 years old. He'll be 66 when Iron Maiden goes back on tour next year. He still has some voice left. I really think it's too son for people to talk about retirement for Axl, Slash, and Duff.

  5. I really don't get the mentality that GNR is over. There are positive vibes coming from the band. Yet, some people here are thinking and insisting that  this is the end.

I'll probably won't be checking this website as often as I did during the last 7 years while GNR is on break. When I'm fully recovered from the broken foot, I have other things that I need to get done. I have also made myself a promise. No matter what happens with my parents when GNR comes back, I'm going to see the next GNR tour. If something happens to one of them when GNR is in the NJ/NYC area then I'll travel  to see them.

Here’s what I’d like to see.  Take their time off.  Release some stuff.  Get re-releases of spaghetti/lies on vinyl.  Release shit loads of video footage in some form.  When they reunite do new album or new and old songs if need be.  Then tour.  However, don’t do 28-32 song sets.  There’s no need.  Tour with other bands and play 15-18 songs.  Fluctuate hits.  Interweave songs they don’t play as much from all albums with new songs.    Maybe not close with paradise city and not open with its so easy.  Just switch it up.  Either way not play as long of shows.  I think it will really help Axl’s voice.  Hell Metallica doesn’t even do that many songs.

I believe you are incorrect with Metallica. I saw them at MetLife this summer. What they did was they broke it up into 2 nights rather than one concert. Each night was 2 hours. They played a total of 32 songs for 4 hours that had a different setlist. They gave Hetfield a break  between the shows. They played Friday and Sunday then gave Hatfield Saturday to recuperate. I think this could be a good approach for GNR to give Axl a break in between the shows when they go back on tour.

    Where did Eddie say this?

I think Slash and Duff could come up with some really cool stuff together, which might inspire Axl creatively also. And if they got with a good producer then I think they can still make one last good album.

No, SMKC is doing another album after this tour. As long as Myles and the rest of the guys are available and interested SMKC will be around in some form or another.

Where did you hear about a new album after this tour? It was very clear that Myles was uncertain about the future of SMKC in the interview that he gave.

I don't understand why anyone things the end is on the horizon for the band. They've given no indication that they're going to call it a day, and when you look at other, similar bands, they're way too young to retire. They've got at least another 10 years in them. At least.

Looking at their energy at the moment, and how happy they all seem to be, I'd say if anything, they're just getting started. There'll be a year off, then more of whatever from 2025.

I agree with you! Someone mentioned that Slash told Eddie Trunk off the record that he was very happy with this tour. I think there's more to come. If anything, I think SMKC ends after April. Myles definitely seemed unsure that it'll continue.

Yes, but he didn't see it that way and he did it under the GN'R name. I'm thinking it more along the lines of him doing something outside the GN'R name.

I doubt that he'll ever go outside the GNR name. He had the opportunity to do so and didn't. It's too late.  I'll always think that it was the wrong business decision for him to be a solo act under the GNR name. The GNR name could have been put in hiatus and would have freed him  to do whatever he wanted with music. That's water under the bridge now.

Although, to me, some of these CD "leftovers" are better than even half of CD - especially these last ones are up there with the best songs on CD - I completely agree about letting that era go. It has dragged on for so long that it's ridiculous. It's crazy to think that Axl told Bach in 2006 that The General would be released in 2012 and that looked so far in the future, and that song is finally released in 2023 (better late than never, but...). I wish Axl just decided to finally close that chapter by putting everything out within, say, the next year (first the rest of the rehashed songs by Slash and Duff, and then all the original demos etc. in a box set or even just a digital package).

I wouldn't go as far as to say that it could be good if they disappeared, but as much as I want them to write new music (which is mostly being curious to see if they can do it and what they can do), I would be equally, if not more, interested in Axl doing something outside of GN'R and even if he let go of GN'R completely, e.g. if he went solo or wrote instrumental music or became a producer etc. But of course I don't expect any of that to happen. I just expect them to slowly release the rest of the reworked CD era songs and continue touring (probably after a one or two year long break) as long as Axl's voice holds up to a level of weak-hitting the high notes. After that, it will probably be the time that he opens the vault of the classic era. I think that the UYI movie will eventually see the light of the day, even earlier than that. The main issue with it is not the controversial stuff (they can easily censor it, after all), but that it appears that it exists only in the form of likely hundreds of hours of unedited footage. So they would need to hire someone to go through all that and edit it, and then sit with them and choose what they want to be in it.

Well Axl kinda did went solo with Chinese Democracy, though.

Anybody remember the "Dragon" title from one of the Geffen papers some while back?

Now one of the users from HTGTH claims that Dragon is the new title of..... Quick Song! I hope he is correct because i guess then it has been completed with lyrics and hopefully one of the songs Slash has played on.

If this is true, I'll be  VERY happy with the title for personal reasons.

Gasps? They take 2024 off and tour in 2025 and they’ll still fill venues around the world no matter what. It’s so strange to be on a message board for fans of a band, and witness some of these angry posters predicting and/or wishing doom and gloom. You should really find something you DO enjoy to follow. It would drastically improve your daily attitude and quality of life.

I totally agree! I don't get why people like this are on here. You don't like the band and performances then simply don't go.

There are a few people on this forum who are fans of both bands and have criticized both singers' performances taking the context (age etc.) into account.

For some people it's merely about enjoying what they hear or not. For others it's about seeing their favourite bands and singer(s), so they can cut them some slack despite the shortcomings.

I don't see a problem with any of this.

I fall into the latter. I know there are shortcomings for both Axl and Brian Johnson due to age. Still, I know that there will be a time that GNR, Metallica, Bon Jovi,  and AC/DC will not perform because of age, health, or not being with us any longer. You never know what can happen in their and your lives. I didn't think I would break my foot 3 days before the GNR show at MetLife. It happened. I was disappointed that it happened. Hopefully, I get to see GNR one more time before they retire or something happens to them.
