The River Is Rising had better numbers too.
Bro River is Rising was nowhere near 1 million even a whole WEEK after it came out I remember the week in 2022 it came out listening to it every day, it still doesn't even have 5 million streams on Spotity 2 years after release which is pathetic compared to even what Driving Rain did in 2018, it was by FAR the worst bomb of SMKCs singles which probably woke Slash up and decided it's time to move ahead and do something different.

I'm just glad Slash is doing something different and seeing it being this successful is great.
SMKCs albums started feeling bleh since the reunion shifted Slashs focus away from it. Or maybe there was just nowhere else to go from WOF, it was that complete and all encompassing of an album, and for the type of rock music Slash makes, the genre he's in, it probably doesn't get better than that. So maybe of course it went downhill since then, I don't know.
But this album looks like it will break up that downhill trajectory of his solo stuff ever since the GNR reunion. If anything it will show him he can come out of that safe SMKC bubble and do something else, and also have that be MORE successful.

There really wasn't any promotion for this at all. They announced it was going to drop the night before and he did one zoom interview. The music speaks for itself.
It doesn't even need promotion, ACDCs singer with GNRs guitar player on a song, that stuff will have people turning their heads.

how likely is it that it could be the first time we hear Axl play Guitar in a song not live
0%, because he already has on Shotgun Blues

Wow fucking incredible that it's true! Opening track 7 minutes I nearly fell out of my chair seeing that and then only to see like 3 more songs over 7 minutes long! It's almost guaranteed Slash ripped out some incredible shit on this album, I got to hear this, pains me to have to endure another The General-Like wait like last fall, lol. Atleast it's good knowing it probably won't be a disappointment

Metal Chesnut is confirmed to be a 3 minute long instrumental. It makes no sense that Axl would be on that.
Are those track lengths legit, where do they come from? If the lengths of these tracks are real that's fucking awesome, seems to be lots of soloing and other jams going on in the songs. 70 minutes of music, compared to SMKCs 43 minutes on the last album.

Nothing special or personal. Slash asked him to lay down some vocals for Watch This. White offered him to play guitar instead because he preferred to sing only his own songs, or on his own records, or something like this. So they ended up not collaborating and Slash sent the demo to Dave Grohl who then played drums.
It was Dave who refused to sing. Have never heard of Jack White refusing to also sing for that same song. Maybe you got it mixed up?

Wylde ruined SMKC's blues Jam in Argentina in 2012 or 2013, his solos were shredawful.
I guess playing live is different to playing in the studio for many players, look at how Slashs playing deteriorated into the same mess within the last 2 or 3 years, but on this new studio recording he played way more focused compared to his live solos. Zakk is the same, these guys just get caught up in the live energy or something, I can't explain it really.
-
Since only the vocalists of the songs are credited on the feature list I wonder if anyone else is on the instrumental with him, like another guitarist. Would seem strange to me, to have an album full of guests on all songs and leave one out.
I'm gonna throw out a wild guess and say that Zakk Wylde is trading solos with Slash on Metal Chestnut. How awesome would that be?

Do you guys think he'll tour this album... with Myles singing all the songs?
Tash Neal is the singer and guitarist of this new band, you can read it in the press release. Slash will tour it but it hasnt been announced yet

Wasn't Brian a bet down on Axl and reductive on his merits when Ax replaced him....was that just the heightened emotions of the moment or does he have beef with Axl?
Axl on the other hand, makes it well known it's the Bon DC he's a fan of....
Nah man Brian doesn't have beef with anyone, he's probably the most humble and nicest sweetheart of a guy in the whole of rock. He was most likely more sad than anything about that whole situation, highly, highly doubt him saying yes to record this song with Slash had anything to do with wanting to get back at Axl or Angus or whatever.
I'd actually say Slash is the one who would have any intention leaning that kind of way, maybe thinking it would be more funny than anything if they now collaborated on something together. Doesn't hurt that he's also a legend who will bring a lot of attention to his album.

Wasn't this album announced before then? I suspect it was mostly done before the GNR June '23 tour...
The Steven question was answered with that video interview Blackstar posted, Steven was only in the studio randomly and not invited as a guest singer, he just wanted in on the song once he heard it, he was never planned to be on anything.

It's funny and strange after seeing Axl and Angus, we get the opposite crossover universe of Brian with Slash

Watching that video I see this become grammy winning at least Performance wise
The video must really do it for you, you went from "I don't like this one", "Brian sounds annoying" to "I see this winning a Grammy" within 24 hours lol

Guns have released 4 singles in recent years. If Axl was on Slash’s solo album they wouldn’t hide it, there is no reason to. They would be yelling it from the rooftop.
If Axl is only on piano of course he isn't listed, Steven Tyler is not listed either. because he isn't on vocals..so if he's on it, nothings being "hidden". To be fair that guy didn't specify that it would be Axl singing, just that he is on it in some way. It's already confirmed as an instrumental officially. If that dude came out and said Axl SINGS on Metal Chestnut I'd call horseshit right away.

The way he talked about Teddy calling him "a great blues singer" makes me think he might be the vocalist for the tour after all. Just comes across to me that way, I mean..why else would he say that? Just so random to throw out there like that.

Zero chance he's the singer. See my post above. I have heard of the names Keb Mo and ZZ Ward. I assume they are the openers of whatever The S.E.R.P.E.N.T. festival is . Also I'm not assuming Myles is the singer this tour just because the venue used a SMKC photo.
Highly doubt it's Myles since this is a different lineup. I've got a feeling it might be the guy from the new band Slash assembled, Tash Neal. He sings the Stevie Wonder cover on the album

He could play harmonica on a few songs...
It would've been cool to hear him sing something, though.
I guess you're right it would be cool if he was the full time harmonica player for the album, from the press release we know the Iggy Pop song also has some on it. Still kind of a bummer, maybe this was recorded when his voice was still injured since last fall so he couldn't do it

This album could be a monster. I love the title and artwork too..
Still hoping for a special edition like the 2010 album coming later with a bonus Steven vocal track. I can't believe they got in the studio together just to have him do 1 minute of harmonica.

I really love Slash's latest releases without GnR and SMKC
I know right? Slash has been doing SMKC since I was 16 and I just turned 30. It's so fresh and unusual for me to hear him doing something else lol, he's been doing the same thing literally half my life, I was hoping he was going to do something other than SMKC eventually, so finally we have arrived.

Brian Johnson sounds like Tom Jones. 🤭
It's pretty rare, but he did go to that lower register from time to time. Here's one of the few examples where he does it in the intro:

You should add (feat. Steven Tyler) onto the title, I mean come on, he's a giant of rockPretty cool to have 2 legends like that on the same track.
ACDC and Aerosmith were like my 2 favourite bands growing up, so this is wild to me. I'll listen tomorrow when it's out here

My guess is it's a new instrumental because it doesn't have anyone featured on the tracklist as singer

i've seen a couple of people say Axl is on Metal Chesnut still looking into that because it could have been said to get people over hyped
Axl is on it because it's probably the Blues Jam known as "Bon Jovi Can Suck My Dick Rant" from 1987 under a proper song title, so Slash doesn't get sued by Jon

Slash's blues album set for May; single out now. SERPENT festival announced

I can see Neither Can I, which he played in the Slashs Blues Ball set before, and Ain't Life Grand (which is pretty much a blues song also) in the set. Anything else is wishful thinking I believe, it'll be all blues covers similar to his Blues Ball setlist.
