I'm skeptical about all of this. Think about it. These songs were locked away for 18-19 years. Now in 2019, they get leaked. I'm not buying it. I'm thinking this was done on purpose to see what the interests are in Hard School and Atlas. I think one of them will be reworked and be in the Terminator movie. Hard School is definitely something that Slash would probably be interested in since it does have a You Could Be Mine feel to it.

If TB is behind the leaks, does that mean it's open season on leaks?

    LOL...

All these years, I just wanted the CD era to end and wanted the AFD5 to reunite.

Now.... all I want are '99 era mixed songs on a reissued Chinese Democracy release!!!

That's not a bad idea.  10 yr anneriversy remaster of CD, 3 discs, with the 1999/2000 version, and bonus disc of unheard/live stuff.  That way, Axl makes money, stops leakers.

I will never understand anything about Silkworms at all.

I agree totally.  However, I previously didn't like it due to the flat melody and harsh language, however always interested in how the studio version would sound. The instrumentation is incredible.  clearly a work in progress, but why would it be such high quality sounding if it wasn't finished? Would be interesting to hear later version.

Such potential! I'm starting to wonder though if this is correct order of how the song is arranged. The edits are too crude to be professional and the way it jumps makes me think sections have been moved or removed prior to the leak. It wouldn't surprise me if the actual song, if ever released, is longer and there are missing parts are being withheld by the leakers.

I hear what you are saying, and feels a bit disjointed, but I still love it.  Then again, the beginning of Hardschool feels the same way.  This is the correct length according to the tracking listing photo that was leaked last week.

It wasn't a drum machine loop? And it definitely isn't a 'ska section' either (as I've seen suprisingly many people refer to it) - it's a disco beat/guitar riff, just like on the released version.

It is. The leaked OMG is a VERY rough mix that is nowhere near finished. Comments to the contrary are just about personal preference with regards to it being more stripped-down (nothing wrong with that btw). Axl himself said it was a re-record that wasn't taken too seriously.

    Thanks

Speaking of relying on older material, I wonder if that new rumor is true that there will be like four or five new studio songs lumped with an NITL live album at the end of this year. Would sorta fit with the “EP at the end of the year” rumor from earlier. If that ends up being true, it would mean that the band and/or label feels more comfortable releasing this new stuff alongside Jungle, Sweet Child, and Paradise City.

Could the EP rumour fit in with Terminator movie soundtrack song?

The soundtrack version is just a demo that the label forced out as a means of showing everyone “hey people, GnR still exists!”

there is a higher-quality version with some extra effects, a new lead guitar track from bumble, and a “stripped down” bridge where axl’s vocals are just over a drum machine loop and nothing else. It leaked last year.

Thanks.  I thought the OMG version leaked in 2018 was poorer quality than the original demo.

I personally prefer the old-GNR-esque heavy start to The Blues!  And never was fond of Ron's solo on Riad, and like the beefed up CD from this leak more than the final version

Different strokes for different folks for sure, but these songs groove way way harder with the drums higher in the mix, the guitars beefed up, and the layers not existing yet

Totally agree, was thinking the same way

I seem to remember reading that at the Hong Kong show in 2002 they put the album artwork up on the screens during Chinese Democracy, and that it was a picture of a bicycle. So I'm not sure if it's the same as the final artwork, but it sounds like it was more or less the same concept.

Wow, didnt know that.  What was the picture of Asian man tying a head scaff around his forehead?

Before the bicycle photo was taken at Hong Kong 2002? Probably this (first image of the article):

That's the image I was thinking of, thanks

I think its clear any other all "new" songs sans Atlas and AfD99 are unfortunatly off the table at this point... At least for a long time.

So, Id like 1999 Silkworms and Atlas at this point tonight. The rumored 1999 Shacklers would be killer too. Was there a 99 Better?

Thatd pretty much be the entire 1999 album.

Two things, didnt know Shacklers was that old, and what is the earliest Better version we have?
