    ....

    Yankee Doodle Dandy.

Piano Man owns your musical tastes.

  2. I hate that Gym Class Heroes use the "Take A Look At My Girlfriend" part in their Cupid In A Chokehold or whatever it is, I've seen lots of people going "they're excellent lyrics"

and I'm like DUDE IT'S SUPERTRAMP!!

No fucker in my whole goddamn shit hole town seems to know its a cover :anger:

I loved the original; now its ruined!

    xDSGx

    How is it ruined?

Besides, it's only the chorus. It's not a complete cover even. That being said, when the best sounding part of your song is lifted from a classic, then you suck. It's one thing to take a certain beat or rhythm and twist it into your own kind of song, but taking a chorus and inserting it into your own song is just awkward.

    Supertramp owns all.

  3. eyehategod, crowbar, and morbid angel. all three are killer bands.

At least I can agree with you here for the most part. Crowbar is great.

    Down

    Kreator

    Sodom

    Kyuss

    Savatage

    Darkseed

Rainbow (A lot of people know about them, but really don't give them a huge chance.)

    Venom

    Marillion

    Eddie Money

  4. Load and Reload aren't awful albums by any stretch. They're just different from what everyone expected. If Metallica had combined the best songs from each album and made it one, it would be 10 times better than TBA.

i totally agree, i'd take both those albums before st.anger, metallica needed a change, they were heading in the right direction, then st.anger came along.

Exactly. They were heading in a good direction. I mean, No Leaf Clover (written for S&M), was one of the best songs Metallica had written in years. Then the band had tons of problems and St. Anger was something they needed to get out. I'm glad they released it, so now they can focus on putting out a great record.

It's interesting how when you hear the unreleased St. Anger demos, they sound a lot like TBA, but then the final product sounds nothing like it. Obviously, they wanted to change the sound of the album before it came out.

  5. here it goes...

Let me finish this "killer" list with:

    Winger

    Helix

    Tesla

    L.A.Guns

    Great White

    and

    the greatness of

    MR. GONE SOLO himself....

    DIAMOND DAVE! :)

    theres so many :

Accept, Armored Saint, Autograph, Black N' Blue, Britny Fox, Cacophony, Euff z Nuff, Exciter, Faster Pussycat, Kix, Keel, King Kobra, Krokus, Leatherwolf, Loudness, Yngwie Malmsteen, Manowar, Metal Church, Nitro, Ozzy, Queensryche, early Pantera, Pretty Boy Floyd, Racer X, Slaughter, Stryper, Trixter, Vinnie Vincent Invasion, Vixen

and all the NWOBHM bans like: Angel Witch, Diamond Head, Saxon, Raven, Blitzkrieg etc.

    The 80s fucking ruled!!!

Awesome job recognizing Kreator. Along with Sodom, they are two of the best thrash bands. Both are still making good music too.

  6. I'm going to take this time to say:

Era Vulgaris > Songs For The Deaf.

Yeah, I know that'll be unpopular, but after many listens, EV just has superior songs. I'm not taking anything away from SFTD either. It's a damn good album too.

I'm impressed you can pick a favorite...they're pretty consistent!

I'd say with confidence that Lullabies is my least favorite...but then again "Someone's In The Wolf" is my favorite song of theirs.

Have you heard their first (out of print) self-titled album?

They played Sick Sick Sick, Into The Hollow, Misfit Love, Battery Acid, Makeit Witchu and 3's & 7's from EV and Do It Again, Go With The Flow, Song for the Dead and No One Knows from SFTD.

I gotta say it was rather lame to only get a 60 minute headlining set...but Josh had knee surgery on Wednesday so I guess he gets a free pass this time.

No, I haven't heard it actually.

It's disappointing that they didn't play I'm Designer off of EV, though. I think that's one of my favourites for sure.

  7. Restricted this to strictly musical terms:

Personally, I think she made some good pop songs with her first couple of albums.

I thought "Complicated" was a well written song and was particularly ironic because of certain people I knew at my school whom would sing along to it and be a personification of what the song was against. Almost like a trojan horse heh.

I now thoroughly think she has had it and will not be able to interest me with anything music-related again.

Yay, someone who can talk about the music without spazzing out. To be honest, I agree with what you say. Although, having heard her entire first album, 'Complicated' is probably the least interesting song on it for me. She wrote some pretty decent songs on that album, especially 'Mobile' which really took me by surprise as to how well written it was.

I also agree with her "having it" but now it has, indeed, drifted away a little. After hearing a couple songs from her newest effort, it just doesn't go together well.

  8. Undoubtedly his voice has changed, but that doesn't mean he doesn't "have it" anymore. He's still in better shape than a guy like Axl, if you ask me.

A couple vids from recent years (i've posted one of them before):

Back In Black - Live in 2005

Black Dog - From a reunion tour with Geordie in 2001

Whole Lotta Rosie - With some random band a few weeks ago

I mean... listen to that performance of Back In Black and tell me he still doesn't "have it". He completely nails the song. I'll agree that his voice has changed - but so has the style of music. The band's pursued a bluesier sound on their two most recent albums. It didn't work at all on Ballbreaker, but Stiff Upper Lip was a great album. His voice suited the style they were playing.

Exactly. Highvoltage is just trying to explain that Brian hasn't "lost" his voice. He still has great vocal strength, but yes, it has changed.

Either way, Brian Johnson is nowhere near losing his voice.

  9. My top 5:

    Freebird - Lynyrd Skynyrd

Welcome Home - Coheed And Cambria (Say whatever you want, trading 4's in a prog rock band is damn cool)

Closer To The Heart - Rush

Home Sweet Home - Motley Crue

King In Crimson - Bruce Dickinson

Fucking right, King in Crimson is a beast of a song. Bruce Dickinson owns on that album.
