I've developed tinnitus in my left ear.  I'm not sure if it's from going to concerts  or listening to music through headphones. My office has always been quiet. I'm in my mid 40s.

    Sorry to hear that!!
If it didn’t happen after a concert then it isn’t from a gig I would say.

headphones can cause a lot more damage than live gigs cause you don’t realize how loud it really is. Wish you the best

I have a set of those earplugs and while they are better than the foam plugs as far as sound quality, they still distort the sound.

I usually use earplugs for the opener.  There were shows I've been to in the past (including GNR) that had a short term effect on my hearing (sounding like I'm stuffed up afterwards).  I have mild tinnitus in my left ear but I think it's more likely from a punctured eardrum when I was a kid than it is from the loud concerts in my past.

The two most recent GNR shows I've been to (Missoula and Hollywood, FL both 2021) had perfect sound levels.  It was powerful and crisp but I didn't get any effect on my hearing at all without earplugs.  I could talk to my buddy without much difficulty during songs if I needed to say something.  I didn't have to yell or put my mouth on his ear.

Munich had terrible sound. vienna today will be better but also not great due to the stadium circumstances there..

Stop spreading lies. You can definitely get tinnitus from a rock concert. A lot of people do. There are thousands of people who have gotten tinnitus from their first rock show. Decibels in a rock show usually vary from 90 to 120 decibels. Scientists recommend no more than 15 minutes of unprotected exposure to sounds that are 100 decibels.

Everyone should use earplugs at rock shows. If you go to a lot shows, you should buy plugs specifically designed for gigs. Your ears start to naturally distort louder sounds anyway, so good earplugs actually enhance the musical experience. This isn't the 1970's. There is nothing uncool about using earplugs. You're not a lesser fan, if you do. That's just horse shit. You get one set of ears. Protect them.

Count yourself lucky that you don't have tinnitus.

The noise at airports or building suites is far more loud than a rock concert. That s a fact.

no one of my friends who also visit a lot of rock shows and are all over 40 and from countries of all over the world has tinnitus. So we all must be very lucky. 🍀

Tinnitus and permanent hearing damage are so much cooler 😎

I don't get how not everyone protects their hearing nowadays. There's great earplugs specifically for concerts.

Sorry but you don’t get tinnitus from a usual rock concert! I am always front row so I get the whole experience and I never had tinnitus. . . I am 44 years old now and have been to loads of rock concerts from club gigs to stadium tours but I never ever would use an ear plug.

besides if I was already ill..

I find it funny that some random fan who sees duff and slash for 3 hours on one night dares to say that they don't put any work in what they do. Stupid talk

I find it funny that someone who seems to be a fanboy uses ear plugs during a rock concert

Hm, how hard this band works..

As a long time fan and having seem them numerous times throughout the years , this year I don t have the impression that Duff or Slash are working hard. Slash just noodles something out, moves barely to the other side of the stage. Duff doesn’t communicate that much with the audience as he used to , he just does his „thing“ with not one percent more than needed.

axl seems the only guy who puts in his heart in this tour, even more now with his voice issues. Kudos to him. But the band in general seems quite annoyed if I compare them to other bands. I really don’t think they put much effort in it. At least it doesn’t seem so. Will see them tomorrow again in Vienna. Let s see

@Stay.Of.Executionwhat s so laughable about my post? From all the bands I ve seen GNR have become the most boring one. Who in this band put s an effort in the gigs?

they just reel off a superlong set and that s it. For me they got worse/ more boring from tour to tour, so next time I am fine to see them once.

There are several kick ass bands out there who love what they do, produce albums regularly and do what bands do … in the meanwhile in the gnr camp: „which shitty merch could we offer instead of new music?“

Only an idiot would not see the difference between those merch stands and the official ones. They have them at many concerts

An idiot or someone who never has been at a concert of this size. I don‘t know the poster and his question makes me think he is not very experienced with stadium gigs… therefore he/she is not an idiot

Some people are saying shit about Axl and he's firing back about how many voice changes he can do in a 3 hour show.

I would like to see some of these people do a 3 hour show and run around the stage and sing too at Axl's age or for that matter any age. It's not easy and we all know Axl gives 110%.

Anyone who's seen GNR knows how hard this band works and I love that each member has a chance to shine with a solo.

Well, since the beginning of GNR Axl has always had many voice changes and some fans thought GNR had two lead singers. It's not easy these days running around a stage and actually singing at the same time. The man is 60 years old give him a break

short question: when do the merch stands usually open? i'll be in vienna, entry starts at 4pm there. can anyone share their experiences? help would be appreciated

Be careful with merch outside the stadium in Vienna! There are often people who sell not original merch / scarves outside the stadium, so keep your eyes open. Merch stand will be open at entry (4 pm) and I guess also a bit earlier for the VIP s/ early entrance people.

  11. Well yesterday’s gig in Munich was nice / ok and @EricAand I were happy that the gig wasn’t cancelled and that we were front row (Duff Side) again 😊.

The first half of the set Axl did a nice vocal job but then his voice got weaker and weaker. Not his fault, it is what is is nowadays…

Setlist as I always said since NITL is too long because no one wants to hear all those solos and covers. Boring AF… cut it down to 2,5 hours!

The crowd was ok but nothing special, but honestly I was at a lot of gigs with bands that kick a lot more ass than GNR do ultimately .. so why should the audience go crazy :shrugs:?

lets put it this way, I had fun but I don’t need to see this more than twice. It s like you have fun at a party but in the end you re happy when the first ones leave so you can go home too.
Vienna next week and then I am fine until the next tour.

yeah I wasn't sure. Thanks. He's got a great set of pipes on him for sure, but not much of a personality imo. He's very good at replicating Bach's howl but I feel like Z.P had his own thing going on.

Hm, I liked ZP, but he clearly doesn’t have the voice Erik has. And ZP didn‘t make much moves or anything on stage in comparison to Erik who does his own thing. I ve seen ZP live numerous times, he is a kickass singer but Erik brings it to a whole different level…

He doesn’t imitate Bach onstage cause Bach never went into the audience to sing with them face to face.

or his boxing moves. Erik does boxing and so he does some boxing moves on stage. I ve seem him live in Vegas and can only recommend it to everyone who likes Skid Row. He is the best fit they can have.

bad joke, sorry man. idk, and if I'm not mistaken, I think the band didn't officially share who it is yet

Of cause they made it official 😋

in mArch when they released their new single „the gang s all here“ and 2 days later began their vegas residency with the scorpions and their new singer Erik Grönwall!

also various interviews with Eddie trunk and so on, it s all officially confirmed and I can only say as a die hard Skid Row fan „with Erik we got the best voice out there“

    he is fantastic!!! Killer voice!

so which singer is on the new album?

Their new singer since March: Erik Grönwall, swedish singer with killer pipes!

he sounds like a young Sebastian and has so much stage charisma- amazing!

He was frontman for swedish rock band H.E.A.T.

This new song sounds like a Steel Panther song, but without the irony or sense of humour.

    Just sounds like cheese.

It’s funny to see people on social media excitedly saying it sounds like something from Slave to the Grind, and that this is the best song they’ve done in 30 years. Because it doesn’t sound like either of those things. It sounds like shit

That s your opinion. What Skid Row fans think is that it could have easily been on the selftitled album not „Slave“ cause the song is too „poppy“ for Slave. The gang s all here is better than „Here I am“ for example which is on the first album. I hope for heavier stuff of course regarding the rest of the upcoming album. I am sure it will be a success!! Erik has a fantastic voice

Rachel and Snake are millionaires. They haven't wanted Bach back  in 25 years and I doubt they'd go from clubs to arenas with him so at this point I doubt he comes back. I have little interest without Baz and I'm sure the vast majority of people that were big fans during their heyday feel the same.

I wouldn’t say it s the majority of Skid Row fans that lost interest when Baz was kicked out. Just the common public that knew only the big hits and the Baz fangirls and boys who pretend he still is the best singer on earth and say Skid Row should reunite for the paychecks! Thank god the band doesn’t put money in the first place!! The love making music and being onstage and they want all that without drama and Sebastian who thinks he is the boss. He isn’t and he never was.. Erik has a fantastic voice, just like Bach in his heyday so now the haters don’t have any complaints anymore 🤗 New album out in October!!

I didn't know who the singer was to Skid Rowe that was replaced.

I think this band should give up or make up with Bach.  He was the best singer for SR, but honestly does anyone really care anymore?

I  care and a lot and other skid Row fans as well. They put out good music after Bach as well. Bach is a douche bag and skid row love to be on stage and play !! The new singer Erik is 10 times better than Bach. Seen him live in Vegas with Skid Row. I like the new song. Its a nice rock song. Excited for the new album

Come to a show, then tell me if you still think they're on autopilot.

I‘ve been to 2 smkc shows just to see Slash & Todd kerns. The songs are so boring… the only time I get excited is when they play a GNR song. SMKC stuff doesn’t touch me in any way and moreover I hate Myles voice. Won t go to their show anymore

I don't think Axl talks to any current or past member unless it is business/Guns related.  Maybe the very occasional "Happy insert occasion" or "Congrats insert occasion" .

From the current band, I get the impression there are 3 camps.

    1)  Axl and Team Brazil

    2) Slash/Duff

    3) Richard, Frank, Melissa

This is just the general vibe that I get based off of social media, interviews, pictures etc

Thats not to say they don't occasionally talk or even hangout for a bit on tour.

And I would add that many people from SMKC are cool with current and past GNR members.

Todd played with Stevens band Adler last week I think cause his bass player was involved in another project.
Dj Ashba s wife posted on ig some ❤️ to Meeghan (if I remember well) and Meegan responded with ❤️ - so I think there are many cool relationships between several new and old GNR members and SMCK also
