Nah, there's never zero and never 100% with GNR (or much of anything else, really). But does it look bright? Nope.

For me, the moment has passed. I had hope with the reunion. Genuinely thought they might manage to put out something decent. A late career creative high if you will. Well it was a 5 year wait for Absurd... something I'd heard and disliked 20 years earlier. Will be interesting to see what reaction the EP gets. I'd be stunned if there was much interest out with fan groups.

Does anybody just find GNR one of the most frustrating bands ever? So many chances and so little return.

He's 100% done, and was done by the time he was 40.

The utter bullshit people peddle about him being a 'perfectionist' is just wrong IMO.

Yes it could come from a deep insecurity and fear. Once the fear level reaches a certain point, it will prohibit a lot of things.

People will correctly point out that nu-Guns was a bunch of collectively technically sound musicians. But realistically none of them apart from Stinson and Buckethead had a track record as a songwriter (and Bucket's output is more technical guitar wizardry than songwriting per se... not to diminish his ability at all). From what I've heard of the Village Leaks there are a lot of cool instrumental sections, but nothing that really hangs together as a song. Once you have 10 different people contributing over 10 different years, the genesis of the original idea is pretty much lost.

That approach also clearly suggested that he potentially lost his muse as a solo writer. Always worth remembering he contribute a lot to the Illusions.

In the time Rose has had since Chinese and now:

John Lennon formed The Blackjacks, changed their name to The Quarrymen, sacked Pete Best and Stuart Sutcliffe and appointed Ringo Starr, formed The Beatles,

    They released the following albums:

    • Please Please Me,
    • With The Beatles,
    • Hard Day's Night,
    • Beatles For Sale,
    • Help,
    • Rubber Soul,
    • Revolver,
    • Sgt Peppers,
    • Magical Mystery Tour,
    • The White Album,
    • Yellow Submarine,
    • Abbey Rd,
    • Let it Be

They starred in the following films:

    • Help
    • Hard Days Night
    • Magical Mystery Tour (voices)

    Then they split up

    • Lennon released the album Plastic Ono Band,
    • McCartney released the album McCartney
    • McCartney then released the album Ram
    • McCartney then formed Wings and released the album WildLife
    • Harrison released All Things Must Pass,
    • Starr released the album Sentimental Journey
    • Starr then released the album Beaucoup Blues

All in the time Rose released Chinese until now.

Likely less said about Wild Life the better but yes I get your point! In the same amount of time that passed since ChiDem was released and now... Adolf Hitler and the Nazis came to power, hosted the Olympics, declared war, murdered a lot of people, destroyed Europe, and had their arses handed to them on a plate! That's a fuck load more killing than that ginger fucker has done singing!

Joking aside, me and pals were chatting about overrated bands the other day. The Stone Roses came up as a strong contendeder with only 2 albums, and a bunch of singles to their name. Many people don't even like their second album either (PS I do!) But GNR was the unanimous pick. So much potential, but the output really doesn't match the potential. When I started talking about the Frankenstein method of recording they employ now, everybody was really impressed and wanted to know why more bands don't employ this method. NOT!

I would subscribe to the motion that as a recording and creative artist, Axl Rose is done. Caveat: happy to be proven wrong but it's looking improbable now. Few artists have a creative spike and release their best work in their 60s. He's the same age as my Mother and his comeback song had a line: "a pussy full maggots". That's the reality.

To be fair, their first reunion single featured drums from 20 years ago

Obviously there won't be any significant Buckethead parts on any songs that feature Slash and Duff, but Bucket's tone sounds great with Axl's voice, so I'm one of the people hoping for a future CD box-set filled with any remaining Bucket songs...

Yup totally get that, and you're right on the drums for sure! To be honest, I'd even check out a ChiDem box set as I think it would be interesting no doubt. In that context... I have no issue with people going wild with enthusiasm for the KFC enthusiast! Fuck, I might even enjoy it and become a convert! But I'm sure you get what I'm saying... hoping that the next GNR release features a BH or RF solo when Slash is in the band, is not a hope connected to reality!

Are you ever gonna post something on here that isn't making fun of people for liking buckethead? It's pretty tiring.

Posted lots of stuff that doesn't meet that criteria. Besides I'm not making fun of people liking El Bucketo. I'm poking fun at people consistently commenting that they hope the next GNR release features some leftover guitar tracks from his tenure in the band... 20 years ago! A huge difference there. Not even the same thing.

I mean it could be totally turned on its head in theory, the song could be incredibly different now. For me, OMG would need to be incredibly different to justify its re-release in the coming years. Personally I'm happy with the 1999 version, I think it's a cool song. Took me by surprise the first time I heard it, and didn't listen to it for a good ten years after and now I kinda love it😄

Like a reggae track!? 🤣 I mean that would be left field!

I don’t think there’s a chance in hell that Slash will allow a Guns song to be put out without it being only him who’s playing the lead tracks

B-b-b-b-b-but what about Bucket?! Everybody knows Slash was just a warm up act for Buckie Boo and that in the public's conscience it is he and Axy Waxy who are the dynamic duo in GNR! 😅🤣

    No. Please, read my post.

Stop agressive messages, please. At least, I'm offering another "vision" of Chinese Democracy and I feel it's just like the most "complete" version out there.

Okay, hit me up. I'm not a huge CD fan... production issues is actually likely one factor in it to be fair. If you've genuinely got something you think is decent and worth a listen, I'm happy to spend some time listening. Totally serious here by the way! In return I will provide some balanced objective feedback in response to your PM. Cheers ears.

  8. Hi guys, I just wanted to let you all know that after months of diligently working hard through multiple different copies of the same thing, I have finally completed compiling my personal 'go to' AFD album mix and thought I'd share this information with you as it's been a real labour of love for me. This version is in essence the same version as the released version, except I loaded all the tracks into Logic Pro X, increased the volume by 2db, applied a bass booster EQ plug in, and added 0.5db gain. The outcome is truly amazing. Now I just want you to know that I will be posting about this in various different threads, using different fonts and mildly different context to regurgitate this same information in roughly the same format. Hit me up with a PM if you want to hear what I've done.

I hear you. Riad is the biggest example of that for me and Chinese to a lesser extent. I love the title track, however, the Rough Mix Version 1 version goes straight for the jugular. I definitely prefer the vibe of that version and it's the same with the early mixes of Riad, that song benefits going straight into the guitar riffs.

Yeah I always quite liked the title track but the intro on the released version instantly put me off. Only thing I will say about final version is that I liked the double tracked octave vocals on the version. And that was it! Haha! The fretless guitar wank and never ending soloing under the vocals added hee haw.

Uhm, MLK were there in RIR 2001? Not added between 2006 and 2008.

    Ah okay sorry my bad.

To be fair to our mutual friend, I do absolutely love Buckethead, as well, though, obviously not as much as they do.

Oh there's no doubt he's a helluva guitar player and I do listen to some of his solo stuff now and then. I have no idea how one man can be so bloody prolific! Of course the irony with GNR fans going giddy for more Buckethead is that most of the solos on CD were pieced together by Axl and Caram!

As for the "old" band?  Dunno, really.  How 'bout an official release of Inglewood '91, or a proper, official UYI tour doc?  Maybe a taste of what they were working on from '94-'96.

Some classic gigs from yesteryear would be cool. Though on the proviso that Bucket replaced Slash's parts. Obviously. It would be great if they also managed to put sneak Bucket on the upcoming UYI boxset too. Even though he had nothing to do with it. I believe this will happen. 🤣😁😆😂

I regularly tell my girlfriend (who I'm growing my hair out for) that the end goal is for me to have 2006 Axl hair when it's long enough :) She also says with me, all roads end with Guns N' Roses. She put up with me sending her the Village songs and also likes Hard Skool. Yes, she's a keeper. :D

I forgot to mention, one of her favorite GN'R songs is IRS, which happens to be one I don't like very much.

    As in ginger cornrows?!

Maybe nookie from a fellow Buckethead fanatic?  That would be incredible.

Hahaha! A Sweersa Tinder profle suggestion:

"I live alone and really enjoy the creative works of ginger singer with cornrows and a guitarist who wears a yellow rain coat, a white Michael Myres mask, who uses a puppet to talk, whilst wearing an upside down KFC bucket on his head, and who lives in a chicken coop watching porn. I like to post about their brief time together. A lot. On a fan forum. I also enjoy extreme horticulture, brocoli, knavel fluff collecting, and taxidermy. I also enjoy KFC food. Swipe right for a finger lickin' good night."

I absolutely love OMG.  I think it's such a fun song to listen to, but the last thing I want is Slash and Duff working on it and releasing it. We already have an official release of it.  Work on stuff that hasn't been officially released

Yeah I agree... what's the point in re-recording old tracks??? OMG is fine as it is.

I foresee the re-worked version with Slash and Duff to have far too loud of guitar tracks in the mix. Hopefully they use Brain's drums, and keep some of the Bucket leads.

And here you go again! Jesus Christ man, give it a rest.
