Thank you for so eloquently shutting down that lame bowling alley argument that's beyond flawed and shows just how petty the fans that hate the 02-14 era in fact are.

And to those fans. I can't make you accept facts, you can live with your pettiness, as your responses to my post only prove. But, why can't we all just at least respect all eras of GNR?!?

*oh yea, and the birthday party they played was on an off night of a successful stadium tour across Europe.... sooo, again. Sorry about facts.

Do you think that the 02-14 lineup had continued they would be drawing as many crowds and making as much dough now?,. Do you think anyone that ever had an interest in classic guns would be giving half an interest?. People switched off. I would bet 95% of old fans who heard or saw guns when CD came ourt was out of interest not because of how much they liked CD compared to appetite or the illusions record. And once thgey heard or saw once, once was enough to realise that this version of Guns n roses was not the guns n roses that mean so much to the older fans.

I have listened to CD with an open mind and its a record that had it been released in 96 it may have been pretty successful as industrial music was starting to be popular then. When i listen to CD now it sounds like a cold, spiritualess album that is not worthy of the name "Guns n Roses" on the album cover. Its just an album that sounds like it was recorded like Metallicas st anger  - just cut and paste music done in pro-tools. If the CD era of guns floats your boat thats fine, but its not fine for me to respect to call myself a GNR fan and i dont accept CD with the Guns n Roses name on it.

Guns N' Roses had become an absolute joke, Slash's return turned them into one of the biggest bands in the world again and they're playing huge stadiums all over the world like they used to do. I can't see how Slash fans could have their ego hurt. Regardless of the things he's done/accepted that I disagree with, I couldn't be prouder. He saved GNR.

Slash wasn't the one who wanted to bury Appetite and said "not in this lifetime", was he? These days seem to be way harder for those who claimed Slash was mediocre, GNR was gonna be better without him and Robin Finck was gonna be bigger than him in GNR. Gotta admit it was a close call, though :rofl-lol:

Im sure once axl saw the amount of people in the audience and how the tour was going during say , half way through the first US leg, he probably thought " should have done this years ago". That comes down to one thing.....ego. A man who cant admit that people are no longer interested in cd era GNR, it had run its course.  Slash has done numerous interviews in Australia and can talk about Appetite all day instead of axl who doesn't want to know and would rather talk about CD. Off topic its the illusion album recordings that Slash finds the hardest to talk about because of how the band dynamics were, it makes me more interested about the recordings of that timeframe. But at the end of the day at least he willingly talks openly about guns past whereas axl prefers to avoid any questions about the 86-93 lineup.

Can you blame them? They have to put up with the likes of a failed incarnation of the band that was playing bowling alleys and birthday parties by the end. All because Axl is too proud to admit that the last 20 years have been a total failure.

Post of the day. And don t forget having to see axl wear that god awful yellow coat. Would like to see his reaction if you showed that photo to him to a 91 era axl.

They don't need this forum's help.  The hardcore online fanbase is such a small percentage of fans who buy tickets, merch, and albums that it's really not worth their time to worry about us.   It was different ten years ago when they had no real online presence, no fan club, and the hardcore fanbase was needed to push concerts and new material.  But we live in a different time when the band is selling almost a quarter of a billion dollars worth of tickets and this forum, the largest by far, may represent 1 percent of concert going fans.  We get on average 100k unique visitors a month, which sounds like a lot and I'd wager this is more than all other GNR forums combined.  But to put that into context, that's about the same amount of people that attend two (maybe three) GNR concerts.  So it is what its.

If Duff and Slash had such an issue with TB managing the band, I don't see why they'd rejoin.

You might want to first understand what a manager does before attacking Beta or Fernando.  Contract negotiations aren't usually done by artist management save for monetary demands and broader terms.  Most artists like Axl/GNR would depend on a lawyer or legal team to handle the nitty gritty of contract negotiations.

I really don't get this attitude towards TB.  They've been with Axl for over two decades and if you think they've kept their heads in the sand not learning anything about the music industry you're nuts.

Since TB took over management the band has only released a live DVD and oversaw the biggest tour of 2016.  I'm sure mistakes have been made (cough, Nightrain), but let's not gloss over their successes.

Not sure if you've met too many A&R guys, but I wouldn't be too worried about insulting them...

Sorry downzy but that was going to happen no matter who was managing the band, and thats due to us fans for making it happen nothing to do with TB. Although to their credit probably keeping the wheels together. To me it was duff who was responsible to build the bridge again between axl and slash i dont why TB couldnt build that bridge earlier if they supposedly have axls best interest at heart?. Sorry downzy im not trying to sound like a prick.

You can't worry about what someone reports or doesn't report or how they make it come across. You're just a fan like the rest of us, if they want a story they would have found it somewhere else too.

Im just surprised TB doesn't get in touch with you more often to help out. This is their biggest space for GNR fans to gather and they try to pretend it doesn't exist.

It blows my mind How TB are Guns n roses management is beyond me. Im thinking slash and duff must be thinking the same thing. Does beta know about music law and how to read a contract, how would a record company feel about negotiating millions of dollars on a band when their "manager' was axl's nanny?. It would feel insulting to the record company....i mean when negotiating a contract with beta , who has no music knowledge has no industry experience, i mean where would you start.

We'd all love new music, but nothing is 100% with this band until it's happening. Hope for the best and expect the worst.

On a side note- Am I the only one who has no interest in seeing the CD II songs released with Slash playing on them? I'd prefer something from scratch

id like to write from scratch to, but look at van halens album adkot when david lee roth and the van halens got together. Those songs were mashups of tunes they had from their old club days, so I can understand if they use CD2 material, or if duff and slash pick certain recordings that axl has as its a starting point in order to complete an album and release fairly quickly and get back on the touring bandwagon again.

  7. Im sure Clink has a lot of stories of his time recording with the band, its a pity no media people don't do an interview with him. I think the band would use someone maybe like brendon O'Brien to do the mixing. Maybe they are waiting for the next ac/dc record to see who ac/dc may use as a producer to get a feel for the producer in question for any potential guns recording. My bet is any producer who has produced slashs solo work would get a potential nod.

I really hope they'll play The Garden and more importantly, I hope Alice will open for GNR in Argentina instead of The Who.

Now Alice can ask this personally http://www.blabbermouth.net/news/alice-cooper-weighs-in-on-guns-n-roses-reunion-why-isnt-izzy-in-there/

Btw, there was a rumor last year while GNR was here in South America that the band was having such a great time that they wanted to come back in late 2017 to finish the tour here. It was just a rumor but if true this would be the end of the tour and we'd finally get to see what follows. Either way, I'm glad the part of coming back was true :D

when the band finished playing Australia they said they will be back - when and in what sort of capacity would be anyones guess. Alice cooper is due to tour down under in October this year. This very much could be the never ending tour. My other thoughts are I hope they really mix up the setlist somewhat and play perfect crime.

Its a very logical thought. I mean why else would this guy waste 25 years holding onto stuff for? I dont buy that whole he's a perfectionist shit either. No perfectionist holds onto music for a quarter century if it was worthwhile. Maybe he's just simply scared to death of releasing shit. Even when he released Chinese, I dont remember him being so confident about it, like in days past. He was more like, Its not perfect, but you'll atleast enjoy a couple tunes from it.

Maybe, he did lose his confidence in his writing ability. I remember him blaming Slash and Duff saying that they broke his confidence in his writing ability because they werent into the stuff he was writing. Slash himself said in interviews back in the day that he wasnt really interested in making Stephanie Seymour ballads with Axl.

I wonder with all of the hassle and the amount of time releasing it as time went by he just lost interest. Sounds like his attitude was " fuck it just release CD - what will be will be" and he just left what interest people would have to the lap of the rock gods. In duffs book when axl and duff were writing together in 96 they didn't like the music that slash brought in which was southern rock. Axl told slash the music isn't guns, which duff backed axl and slash left to work on snakepit record but who knows what sort of music Axl was into at that stage. I think the band were all over the place in terms of what music they were into, I think the focus was the music and not the writing and neither had the same musical direction.

Hard to say -- I'm thinking Axl needed the money more, but clearly him and Slash were financially motivated for this thing to come together so nicely. All of these guys left a ton of money on the table the past 20 years dicking around in their solo projects. I don't blame any of them for trying to make up for lost time and collecting as much cash as they possibly can.

Another thing - never underestimate the greed of the rich and their desire to amass more wealth. Sure - Slash was probably doing okay even with Perla cleaning him out - he can always make more money touring, but GnR was a huge payday. That's like the retirement fund not just for him, but for his grandkids. By rejuvenating the partnership, his kids will reap the financial benefits of GnR a la MJ's children and Kurt Cobain's daughter. That was the most bitter pill for Duff and Slash all these years probably - Axl cutting them out and then killing the brand with Nu-Guns. They probably lost tens of millions of dollars, easily. Whatever Slash was making with his solo stuff and Velvet Revolver was probably a pittance compared to the GnR cash he walked away from. Even as a contracted employee of Axl's band, he probably would have made a fortune.

why do you think the stones keep touring?!!

My guess is that Perla got away very rich with that divorce. But one thing she might not get any penny from are the old GNR records. She might be still getting money for the kids, but everything Slash is earning with GNR now was written way before she married him...

im betting this whole reunion didnt happen 2,3 years ago because of one person - perla. She was at one stage managing slashs business affairs (stupid decision on slashs part) and i think she would have been a nightmare to do business with and would be extremely difficult if she was managing slash so i can understand axl's reluctance to pick up the phone and make amends. As arlette verecke said, once slash filed for divorce and papers were before the courts the reunion was full steam ahead and things progressed very quickly. I think that was what alan niven has publicly said, and i tend to agree. I think slash made sure those divorce papers were done before any signitures were fresh on the reunion promotor contracts. correct me if im wrong but Under california law an ex spouse can claim 50% including future earnings?

It's a controversial opinion and all that, but I feel the same way. I think Slash wanted Axl to do a solo album, dump all the nonsense there, and get back to working on a Guns album.

But how long for Axl to finish a solo album then? and Axl probably views Gn'R as kinda his own thing anyway. No one knows if they had another album in them had Izzy, Slash, and Duff stayed. It's possible, but I don't really believe it would have been on the level of UYI. Even Chinese contains a lot of genuine elements that I'm not so sure the band at that time was capable of creating together like they did before.

They weren't on the same page personally and musically as well, Slash and Duff were problematic when it came to working on Axl tunes even November Rain and Estranged. I can't see Slash doing another Guns album full of ballads and layers then. Now that they're older, they're willing to compromise which could give them a better chance to complete another album.

Now we have 10 Izzy albums, 7 from Slash, and Chinese. It's an interesting thought, maybe it wasn't like Ozzy said, it wasn't a tragedy they broke up.

They avoided a shit album and the standard approach to mishandling success. Maybe it was worth it for everyone that it happened like this, the catalog is enough and undiluted, they've released a small but meaningful body of work, The Chinese saga was fascinating for new Guns fans at least, and now they're delivering nostalgia to the masses right on time.

With options for the future like Angus and maybe even a new album not soon, it's pretty good actually cause I don't expect Axl to deliver a Guns album in 2 weeks.

Rovim, agree with you on the first line of your reply. Back in 96 before slash left, and just before he took off to do his blues ball tour  I read an interview with slash in an Australian magazine (hot metal) that interviewed slash as the interview was discussing how guns could make an album and how everyone musically wasn't getting along as this was when Paul Huge was with the band. The interviewer asked slash why doesnt axl release a solo album, and slash's answer was in axls mind guns IS his solo band hence the musical direction issues they were having.

I think that's going to be what he's gonna do when he realizes a new GNR album is not going to materialize or is gonna take a long time

Im wondering if this was a condition for slash coming back. Hes not one to sit still for long periods of time. I think he would have asked Axl what his plans were if the tour worked out well in terms of getting back into a studio to record and go from there. Or if touring was only what axl wanted to do and once this tour wraps up they all go their separate way again?

I would think so. I've said this before on here, in the early 90s Duff talked about writing a lot more for the UYI albums than he got credit for but everyone was fighting for getting their name on it, so he was the bigger man and told them to leave his name out of it. Of course, we don't know it that's true either, but I can't imagine him totally making that up either.

i remember reading an interview with duff when he released his solo album in 93 i think it was in Q magazine (uk mag) where he didnt ask for credits in order to not argue with the band in order for the band to move forward with releasing the albums.
