I’d like to see him in a smaller venue as the main act tbh. Supporting Aerosmith means playing in front of empty stadiums by daylight like Lenny Kravitz did during some of the reunion shows. IDK… I don’t even know if he should play festivals with a blues set like this. I guess I should wait for the album to build an opinion.

Most of the festival lineups are already announced, and slash isn't playing any of them. Seeing slash in a club is always great but he isn't going to fill a full 90 minute set just playing these blues covers. He could fill the set with GNR or SMKC songs but then why not just tour with the conspirators you know?

Either way I hope to get the chance to see him on this tour.

Have faith...he's been outta action many times and always finds a way back....for what he's put his body thro, he's pretty fit for coming on 80! May have to put more gaps in but he'll complete the tour!

Ya know I was thinking. If Slash is touring without the conspirators and is just going to tour on this album I wonder if he is going to be playing these shows as a support act.

What if he is going to replace the black crows on the Aerosmith run since they are doing their own tours now

There are rumors of the rescheduled shows being announced soon and I found it weird slash didn't announce the tour dates along side of the album

Axl still sounds like shit. Don’t give him a stage like this

Oh I didn't mean I would give them the half time show.  I don't think any rock act is anywhere close to playing that again

It'll probably be like dua lipa or someone like that

Just speculating- but if 2 of Tommy's best buds in the "Guns Family" to this day are Robin n' Fortus , and those guys had reportedly worked really hard to put a "2 guitar" version of the band together post-Bucket that everyone thought was pretty cool-

I always thought that Robin, Richard, Tommy, Brain and Axl and I guess Dizzy would be a really cool band and probably would have been a lot better than everything else that we got.

Sad we never got that lineup

I get a laugh when people say they should call Matt or Steven. Even in the very low chance that Frank leaves, they'd call Brain or someone else before bringing either of those guys back.

They've kinda shot themselves in the foot with the Izzy situation - Axl doesn't seem to have much to write about, but he seems too proud/stubborn to hire songwriters. The obvious solution would be to use 'friends of the band' like they did in the early days, but I doubt Izzy would even be interested at this point. So Slash and Duff can write as many riffs as they want, but there's nobody to really tie the songs together. If they ever do try to release a 'new album' I'm sure it'll have CD leftovers and mid-90s stuff, which is the only way I think we'll see Izzy credited on new stuff...

Dude you talk as if Izzy has been releasing album after album in recent years, he has released 2 more songs than GNR has in the last 14 years now and he hasn't played a show in almost 25 years (not including a few guest appearances).

The truth is Izzy isn't interested in being in the music business anymore.  Not sure why that's so hard for people to understand but Axl has been way more active in the business than Izzy has since the year 2010. People need to understand this and get over it already

    New interview:

    https://www.songfacts.com/blog/interviews/dave-abbruzzese-ex-pearl-jam

    The GN'R part:

Songfacts: What do you recall about your experience working with Guns N' Roses?

Abbruzzese: The Guns thing was tough. Axl [Rose] and I became familiar with one another through nightly phone calls for months before we actually met and played music together. It was a tough time for me because I had quite a bit of soul poisoning from the way my manager handled my termination from Pearl Jam. I was leery of entering the big machine again because of it. Things were moving along well until I spoke to the G n' R management regarding my opinion that the new music might be better suited to an Axl solo album rather than a G n' R album.

Doug Smith [David probably means Doug Goldstein], the Guns' manager at the time, told me that the management and the label had a plan of letting the album we were making be the catalyst for getting Axl to reunite with Slash. The plan was to let him fail and the hope was that this failure would inspire him to reunite with Slash and get the big train back on the tracks. When I heard this I was forced to choose between informing Axl about it or just bowing out. I felt that if I told him of their plan it would destroy what little faith he had in the machine.

Really hard to figure out why Axl isn't interested in making new music anymore.

I don’t see the issue with wanting to hear Bucket/Finck versions of songs - it’s not like anybody is obsessively saying “I wish they would rejoin GN’R”. They were involved in the creative process for these songs a lot more than Slash was, and we know Monsters and Hard Skool sound quite different than they did at one point. I am insanely curious to hear earlier versions of all of these songs, because it’s about the creative process for me. That’s one of the most fascinating things about the CD era to me - with the number of leaks we have, there aren’t many albums out there where the creative process and evolution of some songs can be heard the way it can with CD. Some songs changed fairly significantly over time, others not at all.

I mean I would like to hear them but I'm not so disillusioned to think that the band is going to officially release them. That period is over. Slash is back in the band and as long as he is there anything official that the band releases is going to involve him and Duff. Not Bucket and Robin.
