I also think he's never really got past that unfair "Axl is a dick" thing. A lot of people still think that and have a general dislike of him.

Last few years have gone some way to address it.....but it's still very much what a lot of people think, sadly.

Izzy, Matt, Adler, Gilby, millions of fans who think in 1993 he singlehandedly destroyed for good the greatest band on the planet..., please count on

  2. this pretty much sums the problem why Guns are creativly dead since 1993.

Fortus/Frank are not only nothing more than 'reliable, but are not in it for any other reason but financial (not saying that Axl or Duff are in 2023).

BUT, Stradlin/Gilby/Adler/Sorum despite enjoying their checks would not be in it solely for the checks and I can argue that one wholeheartedly.  When those guys speak about those days, there is a certain spark, they were building this band together before being ditched. That is why there is no new fuckin' album, not today, not tmw, not in forseable future. When Axl fugures out a band needs much more than 'reliable and chep' guitarist/drummer, they will deliver something better than Absurd or Hardskool.

bottom line, Guns music is not only not those guys style, but not even their music of preference.

Man, Guns would have survived grunge like Aerosmith and Bon Jovi did, the rest of the bands were swept away. And tell me did grunge survive? No. We have Pearl Jam out there as the only survivor, not even Nirvana would have been able to survive past 1994 even if Kurt hadn't died.

it is not grunge Gunners couldn't survive, it was - AXL.

    Unless you oversleeped 30 years.

I heard people say about 'Estranged'- "oh that must be a new one". They were decked head to toe on GNR merchandise too.

Absolutely remarkable considering it was a single.

No they're right, GA isn't sold out. Take a look:

    https://www.ticketmaster.co.uk/american-express-presents-bst-hyde-park-guns-n-roses-london-30-06-2023/event/37005D7E7B820D46

it is those people they are touring for on this endless tour.

why bother with line up, setlist, less covers when Estranged or Whichita Lineman or anything else is just fine.  it is those people that make 90% of the concert goers 2016 - 2023.

Foo Fighters just announced they'll headline Rock am Ring and Rock im Park in Germany. Not sure how many headliner are still missing for both festivals.

Actually, Foo Fighters dropped in as alternates as Pantera was dropped due to Toten Hosen (absolute Gods of rock music in Germany and Kings of Rock am Ring and Rock in Park) got shit from their fans for playing same festival like Pantera.

NOBODY at Ring and Park is bigger than Hosen or in Germany in general. And I am a fan of FF and Hosen.

Hosen are also fans of FF so that adds together.

  6. Don't think the comparison with The Black Crowes is good. TBC changed their sound so much from album to album, yet, all the songs were always good. Warpaint has nothing to do with Shake or Amorica, those have nothing to do with Three snakes or Lions, none of those is close to the one that ends with Virtue and vice.

With GNR is different, their style between AFD and UYI's did moot change much (Lies is a different story), just that the band grew and became better. Now, it is obvious the 3 don't have enough chemistry with the rest to actually do a proper GNR record and one positive thing is they are obviously aware of that. The question is, are they ok with that and want to keep it that way or give in, get the old gang back and do a proper GNR album. It doesn't take the genious why we got HS and Absurd and no album.

  7. Last good song the band recorded was with Izzy still in fold, so much about Izzy's importance to the band.

It is only on this forum people actually go posting thinking they know GNR individual business contracts :rofl-lol:

As for Izzy...Izzy can go around asking for whatever he wants, for it is the songs he massivly contributed to that they play day in day out and sell out the stadiums.

Off the record, do they fill the stadiums with this semi tribute band? Yes.  On the other hand is that GNR? I know many die hards who take a piss at everyone who buys a ticket for anything post 17/7/93 and boycott this line up.

  8. people here speculate too much what could be/would be, remember we can only negotiate the past, for everyone is pretty tight on everything that is related to this band.

as far as drawing comparison to Steve 'being offered to play a song or two', REMEMBER key thing, Adler was actually ment to be the ONLY drummer back in 2016 if what they say is true. Shamme nobody ever opened up on the ssongs he rehearsed with them.

Is Izzy still friends with the other 3 though? Anyone knows?

The only ex member we can tell Iz hangs out with is Matt.

Let's be honest the last time GNR were A BAND was 17/7/93., evrything post that (Spaghetti Incident excluded) was just from bad to worse.

Personally, for me Matt and Gilby were more than acceptable replacements for one who could not play anymore (Adler) and the other who left on his own terms (Izzy).

To me, Matt style was even more adequate for GNR sound (YCBM, Coma, Dead Horse, Locomotive, Double Talkin' Jive as best examples), Gilby IMO was not technically worse than Izzy but had more stage presence.

Neither Matt nor Gilby lacked charisma and they seemed to be perfect fit for GNR world, not to mention the chemistry they had with Duff and Slash. That was the band the fans lived with and lived for, waiting for the next video, show...whatever. What we have now is huge setback, Axl can't sing, Fortus/Frank/Mel are laughable replacements for the band that played in the 90's. Obviously, the creative chemistry is not there.

As for Izzy...Coming off the stadium tour, with UYI albums just released, it ain't easy to put together the band and play half empty small clubs. No Slash left, Duff in the middle, Steve/Matt behind.  You can give it a try but if nothing happens, it wears off. Financially, it gets to the point where you lose the money, the members need to be paid, the costs are not reimbursed, it stopps making sense and interest fades away after a while. Therefore don't compare Izzy turning off the switch with Ju Ju's to him quitting Gunners.

Fact is, he almost became a member of my second fav bend who themselves toured big time at the time - The Black Crowes. If he was not into touring he would not consider it, right!?

Finally, the fact we have Frank/Fortus/Mel proves it was all about the money... ;)

Imagine being a bitch who complains about a band touring.

    :facepalm::rofl-lol::rofl-lol::rofl-lol:

You still haven't figured out it is not just about - a band touring:facepalm:

Don't worry, one day you will grow up and your vocabulary will have much bigger words to make you look bigger than bitch.

True, you will not be able to turn back the time and pay the ticket to see the BAND, rather than a semi tribute band, but it is what it is.

Now to answer your question.  Imagine being a bitch who actually pays a ticket (!) to see the same setlist being toured 5th, 6th, 7th time. Now, that is what I call a BITCH, a sucker.

  11. you can't be fucking kidding me they will tour more and more and more of same cities/countries:facepalm::facepalm::facepalm::rofl-lol::rofl-lol::rofl-lol:

Talk about milking...How many times have they played London, Rio, Buenos Aires...since reunion, like 10!?

Back during UYI's when they were actually a BAND, media accused them of milking same cities dry and falling ticket sales.

The only way they will sell any tickets is with '87-'93 gang in the fold.  Nobody is interested to pay $150 for same 35 songs and 10 covers with Mel/Frank/Fartus.

Long time no see fellas. Nice to see the old gang still keepin the forum active 👌🏼

Talked this morning briefly with one dude who sang on Spaghetti Incident and played harmonica on Use You Illusion in the bus and he said that Slash has been saving riffs for Guns already before recording of ”4”. Also he said that even though fans are ”WTF” with the new stuf - the band is not and they have a clear plan on how things are gonna roll. He compared the situation to AC/DC where Brian has lost so much of his voice (listen to the most recent feat. live performances he did) that it’s physically impossible to sound like he used to at his best era (in my opinion the 90’s when Rudd came back) and then compare what the did with the latest album where he sounds great. Axl has full capability in sounding like his old self short periods of time in the studio, but pulling of tours like this (with even the voice/tone he is pulling now) will be impossibility in the near (5yrs) future. That’s a good hint on what they are planning.

and salute to all my old buddies at the forum!

any chance you go where he went off in the near future?

it is not a matter of what they want, it is more a matter of what they can.

fact is, without Izzy/Matt/Gilby/Adler they are simply incapable recording anything worthy of GNR moniker.

Hardschool, Absurd type stuff you can hear in 3 local bars in any block anywhere on this planet.  Perhaps the no names have even better numbers up their sleeves.

Melissa's instagram ( https://www.instagram.com/p/Clu4QubPJbc/ ) mentioned "Lastly, I’m gonna get u first one of these days #PsychicChio - I still have a couple of shows 😈" but the video in her post wasn't clear in showing what she meant.

Another video from another angle ( https://www.instagram.com/p/ClyywAbPMiD/ ) shows that Axl kicked Melissa in the ass, and that's why she's slapping him on the back!

    8G7r7QW.png

Axl has the advantage in this game, considering they're both exiting to their left and Axl is further in the middle.

Melissa, I believe in you! One day, you will be able to kick Axl in the ass first!

I wonder how long the ass-kicking game has been around for.

1 down, 2 more to go

Why don't you find and post the "quite a few" Izzy quotes then? (They don't exist).

Only Niven said something like that, once (and Niven has a history of embellishing and even making up shit). Izzy himself has never said anything along these lines.

    :lol::lol::lol:

Who are you, Izzy's alter ego?

What makes you relevant to say what Izzy or anyone else say?

You read every coma they ever said:lol:

You know hom ny band member interviews I read, say, heard since 1990? How long have you been a fan for?

yeah doesnt help the gnr situation i totally agree but i wish it did... idk if i can swallow the whole axl being axl for very much longer either... i mean these guys probably arent as competitive as they once were but surely they dont enjoy being outdone this bad ?

Honestly, this is their comfort zone they made peace with, win - win.

Axl doesn't care playing same setlists with anyone as long as money is pouring in and as long as Slash is on his left side, that sadly is the case.

Duff - his only alternative is playing with Loaded in front of 500 people, go do the math.

Slash - can play with anyone anytime. But where else could the $$$ be so good?

Can they add Sorum/Stradlin/Adler/Gilby and take it musically to another level?

Sure but why share (Stradlin/Adler) or lose few extra dimes (Sorum/Gilby) when it ain't about fans any way? (Axl's mindset).

There is enough stupid ppl willing to pay tix in London year in year out for same setlist as long as Slash and Duff are on stage.  Despite the techno kid or lousy drummer or the shirtless guy.

this migh be polemic but i think izzy went full hypocrite back in the 90s he was a junky like the rest of the band but then he start saying bullshit like he didin t recognize the band anymore bc they were so fucked up, like wtf guy shut you r mouth, why feed the press with  all that bulshit like you r  some kind of saint.

and again left the band in the midle of a tour? fuck off, he leaves his friends in the middle of a big ass worldwide tour with a lot of pressure, and you leave axl!!! yor childhood friend from lafayyett all alone, and for what? to be a fucking snob on a motorcyle, idk for me he is the real diva

didn't he say quiet a few times that he tried to escape Axl and went to LA and Axl would follow him always including LA?

  17. 2 hours ago, Gunner Gilby said:

Sorry but that's a really ignorant comment. When Izzy left the band he chose a big payout instead of staying in the business partnership like Duff n Slash did when they left. That was his choice and that's fine. But of course he wouldn't get offered the same as Slash n Duff.

Axl gets a bigger cut than Slash n Duff. But he pays Dizzy, Melissa, Richard and Frank out of that I read.

Besides does anyone really believe Izzy would've rejoined the band permanently and wanted to play Chinese Democracy songs? Somehow I doubt it.

Bow that's a rip off!! Every dime Frank gets is a fuckin' rip off.

I thought the only reason he is in that band is cause he is the only drummer who actually would pay Axl to be in the band.

Well no, Axl basically said nothing for years and then he started unloading sometime around 2008? While ALL the othe people were firing shots left, right and centre for years. As for the Slash is a cancer. Even Slash said that he doesn't believe Axl was taking a jab at him through his mother's cancer death, it was just a poorly timed comment to make.

And it makes sense because Niven is almost as crazy as Axl. Axl today comes across far more balanced in comparison.

maybe that's when you started following.

Axl insulted everyone from day 1.

He insulted members as they left. Unloaded on Izzy during UYI tour.

Actually, with pluming ticket sales, he almost stopped by 2008. Slash cancer and other shit being one of the last shots.

  19. On 11/12/2022 at 2:19 PM, Tom2112 said:

I'd imagine Slash decided all by himself that Niven needed to be cut off because he spent the last 20yrs slating Axl and Chinese Democracy... If Niven has been a little less bitter about his firing maybe Slash wouldn't have drifted away from him.

Niven is just trying to cut Axl, but really he's just cementing that A) he's bitter B) that Slash will feel justified in cutting ties and keeping it that way

How does this make sense in the GNR world, where everyone insulted everyone to the worst for 25 years!?

With 50% of all insults sourcing from Axl towards rest of thee world.

Championing with Axl's 'Slash is cancer', when Slash' mother died from one.
