is soul monster the same as elvis and me?
-
fucking ace dude! you fucking nailed it!

I personally think they should have never rerecorded Josh's parts, when I listen Rhiad Josh just nails it. What a waste of time and money. They should have never rerecorded the album it lost its edge.

they should have never rerecorded the album. I think the beaven (sp?) mixes are way better. The final versions that ended up on CD have just WAY to much going on, so much so its hard to appreciate the songs as they are.

Just so I’m clear
is checkmate the same as hard school or the general? I’m confused if this is all the same song?
and is the only link of atlas quite muffled or has a clear one leaked?

In my top 5 GNR songs, a tie with Better for the CD era material. Totally bad ass and wish CD had more tunes in this vein of things.

Only way a new GNR album will happen is if Axl wants to bear down and focus on making new music in a respectful manner. Actually jamming with his band, being present at all band practises, not being a nocturnal vampire showing up at 2am and open to working on ideas other than his.
Slash and Duff have families and kids, live healthy lifestyles and operate in a respectful manner. Axl has to be open to change.... sadly I don't see that happening.
-
I like in Duff's book that Sly Stone use to just drop by Duff and his girlfriend's shabby little apartment to smoke insane amounts of crack and then mumble gibberish and leave. Talk about seeing your idol crumble

I've never been able to find a video of it (security was ridiculously strict about filming that night, apparently) but it was Calgary 2010, the 2nd show of the Canadian tour.
I was at that show too and holy man the security was ridiculous. I moved seats a ton trying to get video and getting bugged by the biggest nerd of a security guard. I have one video (can't remember which song) and you can hear him "you can't be doing that" truly wanted to punch him

Some medications for metal health cause weight gain. Sometimes a lot. Sad if someone is taking care of themselves but gets accused of doing the opposite.
Agreed, I think a lot of what Axl's weight gain has been about is probably taking anti-depressants, with some of those drugs you could run all day and eat nothing but broccoli and grilled chicken and still balloon out

Can you imagine Izzy playing This I Love or There was a Time.... he's not there because he probably only wanted to play stuff that he was on, there was no big payoff and the whole thing kinda is a circus

Why you'd have Myles as your singer when you have Todd Kerns in your band completely escapes me. I'm from Canada so have been following Todd's career since I was like 13. He almost produced my album but unfortunately it didn't work out. But I saw Slash n crew on their first tour and Todd did all the heavy lifting with his back up vocals. He's 10 times the singer Myles is IMO dude has voodoo in his voice and is a much better song writer too. But hey Slash wants what he wants.
Don't think they will be doing arenas anymore with the GNR saturation but cool theatres n such. I'd probably go but Myles voice grates on me more than Axl's weak falsetto these days. But on his own songs he is a pretty good singer, but he wasn't meant to sing GNR. He sounds like a drowning old lady and dying cat put together.

I gave the remaster a listen in my car. I thought it sounded great. I didn't compare the original to the remaster but I hear something in the remaster I never noticed before like percussion in Mr. Brownstone
-
technically he is a beast these days but yea over noddley at times and I can't stand his take on this I love, TWAT, Sorry or better. I mean those solo's are some of my favourite gnr solo's and he takes all the emotion and feel out of them with his shredding over the songs.
But on the whole he is still one of the best there is for sure!
-
I think he finally got a regiment of meds that work for him, unfortunately many of them can cause massive weight gain
-
Shit I'd better pawn all my GNR candles to get some of this swag
Good god damn grief!! they don't make easy to be a fan of this band sometimes... CREATE NEW MUSIC, NOT MORE GNR JUNK!

best singer slash has worked with besides Axl iMO. Some great tunes on that album. I was disappointed when I read Slash's book and he never really commented on why things didn't continue with Eric to the next album. I hated the second snakepit record, absolutely hate it about as much as libertad
-
maybe Axl is coping dizzy
-
i don't get all the DJ hate, he's a bit of a ham but he was into it.
this band in 2010 was smoking and aside from the Axl/dc stuff it was the last time Axl actually sounded like himself.
He has moments in the NITL tour but compare this rocket queen to any NITL tour.... apples and oranges. Completely different technique vocally. He was balls out in 2010. Perhaps he really damaged himself and just had to dial it back.... but I wish he sound this way now

I think dizzys record is the best gnr member solo album with perhaps the slash solo record.

Not if he sings Slither.... why he goes to the higher harmony in that songs for the chorus is beyond me
