  1. Axl may well be "working" on an album.

He's a fucking lead singer, its his only job, he should be.

"Working" could be no more than smoking a fatty, heading into his home studio and pissing around on the piano/guitar/computer with pro-tools all night.

In Axl's case, unless the fucking thing is in your hand/ipod/music files, statements like that are utterly meaningless.

  2. BBA is full of shit.

If the whole group had disbanded why is the official GNR website running a contest for a phone call with Frank or Dizzy? Makes no sense.

    Aye

At the end of the day, DJ is just another guitarist. It is no great shakes that he has left

You're right - the bar is so far underground at this stage now and the band so faceless that Axl could go to any rock bar and have two drones fill in for Slash any time he likes.

    No big deal.

What people are complaining about here and something you're avoiding is that the band line up is important to them in terms of "What is GNR?" and Axl's belief that the band was always a lesser entity than him and utterly replaceable has proven to be the greatest mistake an arrogant lead singer has ever made in the history of rock music.

Even Jagger didn't go there and he's an insufferable pox by all accounts.

  3. Axl sees himself like a football team manager - people will come and go but the brand continues.

Maybe this was all part of the plan - remember that rumour after Duff toured with GNR that Axl was thinking of clearing house as he was sick of working with people who were only there for themselves??

Maybe this is Axl's passive aggressive way of doing it - rob the artist of his chance to create and he'll leave..

Its an absolutely shocking way to run your band, especially when he's utterly incapable of functioning as a lead singer in this era, but sure there you go.

Amazingly, I think we have just witnessed the first resignation letter to the fans in GNR's long shitty history of resignations...the black comedy is that about 3 fans appreciate his sentiment - the rest are fucking delighted as the letter confirms his departure!

  4. GNR and Axl is the perfect story of "too much too soon" and "be careful what you wish for".

I'll take the few good albums but the life story to date has been much more compelling.

That's all I'm left here for....to be around when is the final episode is announced and to see will it be a massive reunion i.e. the "Hollywood ending" or will it be like The Sopranos ending... ordinary but realistic.

  5. Now back to the topic about Hard Rock Hotel or Residencies, how much % does the hotel keeps when they tell GNR or any other artist to do a residency? I know GNR did a private show somewhere when they did the european tour, but how much does it costs to book them? Ron is doing small shows, I know many things are not just about money, but any idea how much would he charge for a private show?

If its like it used to be some years back, hotels take less of a cut from ticket sales because you're driving tourism to their restaurants, casino etc. Seems to me given the slot machine and so on that Guns maybe have some sort of wider deal with the Hard Rock.

As for BBFs charge for a private show, I bet it isn't very much. A few grand so long as you sort out his travel and accomodation. Just ask him, he sure as hell isn't a hard guy to reach out to, to his credit.

Yeah Travel and Accommodation is also necessary and many artists have their big demands like a first class ticket or a 5 star luxury suite, but I know Ron is not one of them, ill contact him when the time is right, I was just talking generally, whenever I get married, I want it to be a memorable experience, so I am ready to shell out around $5,000 to $10,000 including his charge with tickets and accommodation, If Izzy can somehow be contacted then I would pay $10,000 for him too, for Slash alone or with his band, I wouldn't go for more than $20,000 but the thing is when you call the band, you need to pay for all members accommodation, travel expensive, food, etc etc, plus they would have some crew members, so pay for that also, so you need big bucks for that.

But well talking generally my budget would be around $10,000 to $20,000 with including everything.

here is a list of musicians and their call out fees, some of them are fucking abnormal considering their small level of fame..

George Michael was charging a million bucks in 2007!

  6. They're not bandmates, they're employees. When you as a boss are finished raking in money, you don't extend their contract.

I'm a shameless reunionist but I have total sympathy for the guys who have been through GNR since the old band died (except for Huge).

Richard's BS about Axl being his "friend" yet the guy has no idea when his next check is coming...after 12 years of faultless guitar work live all over the world.

Doesn't sound like a the work of a friend to me. This is not even good business never mind friendship.

The guys who came in after the old band must feel like ugly boyfriends to the Miss World contestant. They are loved and valued behind closed doors but when the public is about, they hold the coats in the shadows while their beau takes the spotlight.

  7. Note the "employees" take a softer road than those on a more equal footing.

Imagine how amazing it could have been if Axl just walked out and said

"ok, James is injured, Metallica are unable to continue, the monitors are fucked so I can't hear myself and my throat is sore so this will be a tough gig for me....

SO I need you fuckers to sing for me when I can't, I need you to forgive us if I'm out of tune or the band is sloppy.

    But don't misunderstand me!

GNR are here to give you guys what you deserve... the best 3 hours of fucking rock we have all ever taken part in. Are you with us?"

He could have invited Metallica members out to jam later on and just fucking smashed it, all guts and heart.

That would have been the rock star thing to do.

Didn't Metallica fans think Guns were posers? Even after The Black Album

Axl said the truth would come out someday didn't he? (I'm not defending anybody with these comments)

Axl said a lot of things would come out but he lied essentially.

not sure that would have worked either although it would have been admirable

the crowds on that tour were heavily metallica fans and from the shows I went to, i'd say that near 75% of the crowd left before gnr came on and at 2 of the shows I saw, axl stormed offstage early...although it was already like 2am.....the wait between metallica and gnr was interminable and being in the middle of summer, that made the wait even worse

You're probably right but fuck me, when Axl gave it his all he would PISS on ten James Hetfields, put the world's biggest guitar star up beside him there and it could have been great. Nobody would begrudge a band that was trying and when GNR worked live they were a force of nature.

  8. Note the "employees" take a softer road than those on a more equal footing.

  9. James Hetfield being burnt is nobody's fault, incident or not, Axl would have been late on stage, don't think he did it purposely to hurt Metallica.

However, this video just proves how stupid Hetfield can be:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yYa8CszIz0M

You're missing the point here...everybody from GNR and Metallica needed Axl to get in there and save the event from collapse.

He chose not to bother. He knew the crowd had to stand around for the hour or so Metallica were missing and then he stuck it to them by making them stand around for another three and a half hours extra until he felt ready.

Then he's sipping champagne and smoking cigars while the venue burns and people are getting seriously injured.

I just can't believe I have to explain this stuff to point out what's wrong here...

  10. What the fuck is wrong with these rock star bitches not hanging out with each other because your lead singer will get his panties in a bunch...?

    Childish & Pathetic.

If you had a pair of balls Richard you'd look Slash in the eye, challenge him to give his side of the story, then make up your own mind about the whole thing and decide if you'll stand on stage with him or not.

If Axl gets huffy tell him to grow the fuck up.

Not going to tip the cash cow over though are we?

PS: Love the way all of the shit Duff & izzy said in the press has been conveniently forgotten and its all rosy in the garden.

    Hypocrite, schoolgirl bitches.

  11. He only sends crazy, deranged and absurdly long PMs to the ones that humiliate him with facts. Have you guys done that already? Maybe that's why you haven't received one. Shame on you, people. -_-

    Those PMs sound truly disturbing..

  12. Some people just don't get what makes Axl so compelling and that's fine, I just take the guy as he is and accept what peculiar tangent he functions within, there's just as much to like as there is to be stumped by.

If you "don't get" what makes Axl compelling then in reality you just don't find him compelling. There is nothing to "get", either his shtick floats your boat or it doesn't.

  13. I didn't say it was a worked out brand, I just meant, it is what it is. Axl has been late onto stage ever since the bands inception. When you buy a ticket, it is what you are buying into. The reason it happens has been well documented, if you don't like it, don't go.

Friends at home who are fans will only go to see Guns if they can mix up the night with a few overnight clubs in London. This means that they cannot see them every tour, but they don't fuss about it

You're right about choosing to go or not: after I watched him behave like a spoilt child in Dublin (but sing amazingly), I'll be holding my euros for other artists who come to town. I'll never pay to see the guy again unless its with the old band.

Choosing not to go to his gigs makes its sound like its all ok but it isn't, it still doesn't make it right. Worse is that after 25 years of this shit, its not because Axl has no idea of the impact it has on all of those who work for him and those who paid to see him.

This "get in the zone " thing has always such a fucking bullshit excuse; imagine a world title boxing or MMA fight being held up for 3 hours because one of the fighters "needed to get himself ready to deliver an amazing performance"? Imagine the same shit in every Olympic event, every other massive gig, every military engagement, or down at our level, every worker going to work on this planet today. And I keep saying it...ITS JUST SINGING SONGS. I;ve worked as a professional singer so I feel I can at least express an opinion on this.

Some argue its what makes him so unique and compelling and I bought that for a long while myself until, like others here already pointed out, I noticed that Axl can come on stage on time when he knows it'll cost him fucking money if he doesn't.

Do you think he was late on stage to trouser that €1M at that wedding he played? Fucking right he wasn't.

Funny how that simple measure suddenly found our deeply sensitive, needs-time-to-get-into-the-zone, artiste magically finding the reserves to emerge on stage on time, over and over again.

Nobody, only this arrogant fool has wielded such a stick for so long and its this behaviour has been a huge part of GNR's demise and relegation to cabaret act. If you buy into it then you're joining the list of enablers of have let this guy sail way off course and down the shitter career wise.

I'm sticking with the ones who never stop pointing this out in the sad and utterly vain hope that this old red dog may learn a few new fucking tricks and deliver the music world one last astonishing "fuck you, I told you I was amazing"

  14. Amazing!

Well, I guess I can now take Corey's criticism on Axl with utter seriousness given the man's skills for stand-up comedy. I mean, I thought he was a singer but still wasn't sure, now that he is clearly working on a different field, I take him with much much seriousness!:lol::lol::lol::lol:

The guy was simply using facts that even the Axlamic Fundamentalists can't dispute. He is universally reviled for his late starts and their shitty impact on his band, crew and fans.

You can take him seriously or not, the guy is still right.

About Axl, yeah he was always criticizing people and shitting on them, and for absolutely no reason! It's not like he was nice to Cobain, Hetfield and the other ones to begin with! It's not like Hetfield who is clearly the best singer and most beautiful man ever made had accidentally taken the piss on camera judging his food wishlist! It's not like Cobain tried in a pathetic childish manner to ridicule him with his wife! Axl criticized them TOTALLY without reason!

Thank you MYgnR fans for your real reviews of past & current events, you opened my eyes.

I'll give you the one about Cobain, it seems he was a sneery, supercilious shit towards Axl's genuine offer to join GNR out on the road.

Hetfield I disagree...their beef started when Hetfield got burned and metallica had to quit 90 minutes early. The band asked Axl to rally GNR and get out there and deliver a show to save the entire gig - what did Axl do? Went on late as usual and then left the stage.

Slash quote on the incident: “Not only did we not go on early enough to fill the void left by Metallica, we went on three hours later than our scheduled time.”

Listen to Metallica themselves discuss the incident here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4kQv7D4B9gY

You've obviously decided to turn your back on well documented fact when you decided to set out your stall here.

  15. Wkuk must be thinking, where the hell is Gunner PT when I need him.

Wkuk whenever you get banned, let me tell you one thing, you will be missed.

Now I have a feeling that Russ or Downzy will say "This topic has been moved to Civil War for obvious Reasons."

Wkuk ain't the worst by a mile, in fact I've bashed his comments and he's thrown a like at me just 'cause we are engaging.

He took a pounding in good faith and has graciously stepped down from the argument.

I'm all for posters with every kind of opinion from each end of the spectrum chiming in. Frankly, we need it. No sense in having MyGNR turn into the cynical Yang to HTGTH's happy clappy Ying. Plus, its part of the fun here, engaging with those whose position you can't fathom.

On that note, I'm off to construct an reply to Mysteron's apologist stance on late starts!

  16. Slipknot started ten years later than GN'R, they are bands from different eras with different ideologies and different music.

I can understand why GN'R being late irks alot of people, but that is the brand they have carried for decades. Michael Jackson kept dancing Michael style until he pass away, Patti Smith looks odd now doing punk poetry on stage, the Sparks keyboardist still does his funny glances. Bands do what they do

Being late and pissing off thousands of fans is part of the brand identity?

You're reaching very hard here and I have to say, I would have expected better from you.

There is a hell of a difference between Michael Jackson on stage entertaining his fans and an empty fucking stage with a lot of angry, tired booing going on.

And as Jeckyl pointed out, this is not a band thing - every member past and present has hated it.

Global reports of apoplectic fans leaving three songs in to get the last train cursing Axl Rose and swearing never to come back is not a marketing plan.

To try to allude that this is somehow a worked out strategy is fucking insane

  17. Never liked Slipknot. Never understood the stupid masks. If Corey Taylor is where it's at as the worlds best vocalists then stop the world I wanna get off. Did Axl come out & criticise his peers when he was at his peak? I don't think so. Personally I think M Shadows pisses on Taylor from a great height. But both of them can't touch Axl at his best live & on record.

revisionist histroy to worhsip your hero. Slurp slurp slurp I guess.

Yes Axl criticised / beefed with Iron Maiden, Bon Jovi, Nirvana & James Hetfield during his biggest days ( to name but a few)...

You forgot to mention the part where he put his nutsack on Axl's piano. And I should respect this person? That's just totally disrespectful and deserves a beatdown.

Axl beat the fuck out of his wife yet you're still here - double standards?

    Perhaps although opinions vary.

So he paid all that out of court money to make them go away 'cause he was feeling generous?
