It's so hard to think of only 5

Harvest - Neil Young

The Scream - Siouxsie & The Banshees

Mad Shadows - Mott the Hoople

Horses - Patti Smith

The Clash - the Clash

These are my top 5 'cos I continually listen to them, even though I listen to other things, these are always lurking around waiting to be played and even after so many years i still love them. Great thread - makes you remember albums you love and want to hear them again.

Appetite For Destruction - Guns N' Roses

Alice In Chains - Dirt

Elliott Smith - Either/Or

Pink Floyd - The Final Cut

and going by what I've heard so far coupled with Axl's musical track record it's Chinese Democracy at number 5.

I don't know why, but I'm suprised to see someone list this album.

Great Choice.......it is good.

I don't know what my alltime favourites are, but the current ones are:

James Taylor - Sweet Baby James

Otis Redding - The Dock of the Bay

Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

Lou Reed - Berlin

Creedence Clearwater Revival - Cosmo's Factory

I thought you were going to include Nirvana, Fall Out Boy and other bands

Unlike yourself I have some variety in my musical taste. :)

If you think listening Glam Metal, Power Metal, Speed Metal, Thrash Metal, Hard Rock, Rock and Roll, Sleaze Rock, Heavy Metal, Groove Metal, Blues Rock, Pop, Progressive Metal, Glam Rock, Power Pop, Christian Metal, Progressive Rock is not "variety in musical taste", then you have a strange problem.

Rock and metal isn't really variety.

Anyway my favourites at the moment are:

The Replacements - Let It Be

Cut Copy - In Ghost Colours (best album of the year so far)

Sam Cooke - Live at the Harlem Square Club, 1963

The Jesus and Mary Chain - Psychocandy

The Mamas and the Papas - If You Can Believe Your Eyes and Ears

that's really a great ignorant comment. Plus it has no sense because your term "metal" comes from "rock".

Also Madonna has nothing to do with "Rock and metal". Same for Christopher Cross.

Pink Floyd - The Dark Side of the Moon

Stone Temple Pilots - Core

Muse - Origin Of Symmetry

Lynyrd Skynyrd - One from the Road

Well, it isn't. 95% of them end with either "-rock" or "-metal".
