Guest deleted_19765
A vote for anyone but Bonham or Moon is hard to justify, for this group at least. I don't think Matt Sorum or Dave Grohl really belong. If we are going to just assume its Rock we're talking about, I would add Ringo Starr, Bill Bruford, Steve Gadd, Chad Smith, and Stephen Perkins to name a few. But Bonham was probably the greatest, no matter who you include. I don't really care for Led Zeppelin much at all anymore, but I love listening to him still. Most of the best drummers are in Jazz though.
Lithium
I can't decide whether I should vote for Moonie or Bonzo.

JeanGenie
From that list i would say Bonzo, although Keith Moon was great too. Overall Art Blakey is the best.
The Third Man
In that very limited list. John Bonham. Out of everyone, Bill Bruford is the man
KetchupNotMayo
Christ, hard to decide between Bonham and Moon.I'll say Keith just for the performance/explosion on Smothers Brothers in the '60s. I'd also add Ginger Baker of Cream and Neil Peart of Rush to the list, both fantastic drummers. bt88
The poll needs the following additions:Danny Carey- ToolNeal Pert- RushBrann Dailor- MastodonThe first two I think speak for themselves but for those unfamiliar with Mastodon watch this video and tell me he isnt one of the best in the game:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F6uGV-f_7HgThe key moment is the break down at 1:34. nasty
dirtylenny
Moon for sheer originality...for basically reintepreting entire pieces of music through the drums. For the sheer spectacle of his performances..absolutely no one to beat him. There might be technically better drummers than moon in the same way there are technically better guitar players than Hendrix but when push comes to shove, everybody knows who really cuts the mustard :)No one ever mentions Cozy Powell Edited February 1, 2009 by dirtylenny

Turn_It_Up
Not sayin' he better than a Bonham or Moon, but Chad Smith rocks my socks the most of today's drummers. Can funk out and wail with equal skill... Edited February 1, 2009 by Turn_It_Up
Demon Wolf
Roger Taylor is my personal favourite, he's got an awesome, huge drumming style with bombastic fills.http://se.youtube.com/watch?v=b7V8aQuZ1Qk&...=1&index=12And to be able to sing so good while playing... Graeme
Iain Bayne, none of you will have heard of them but he's my favourite drummer, a total powerhouse and really technical too. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=axC0JvUhww8http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=-Qbb1yWsRu8 The latter especially. Daniel Svensson's spectacular as well. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=fYM2ngWz0JE&...feature=related Edited February 1, 2009 by Graeme
