ITW 2012
Anybody else think Axl's got a Southern Rock song in him? Or perhaps a banjo stomping number would be nice? I know Indiana is located in the Midwest but I think Axl's got a bit of a southern vibe. I can picture him singing something like Midnight Rider, Devil Went Down To Georgia or Tuesdays Gone. ITW 2012
Uhhh Sweet Child O' Mine...The guitar is decidedly not southern sounding. I know Bucket plays a mean banjo.
eggers
Breakdown has a banjo in it.
ITW 2012
Breakdown has a banjo in it.You're right. That song has got a southern tinge to it. It also has the style of vocals that I'm looking for at the beginning after the Vanishing Point stuff. Edited October 24, 2010 by ITW 2012
wasted
They could combine free bird and sweet home alhabama into one song but in a more Judas Priest way.
eggers
To me Breakdown is THE quintessential Axl track.
ITW 2012
To me Breakdown is THE quintessential Axl track. It's one of the forgotten gems on UYI II. I always think of that album as the Axl one. I think it's a template of what he wanted GNR to be.They could combine free bird and sweet home alhabama into one song but in a more Judas Priest way.I'd like to hear Axl sing in a voice that's closer to his speaking voice. He must have a cleaner baritone hidden in there somewhere. Edited October 24, 2010 by ITW 2012

J Dog
Tuesdays Gone would be great. For the speaking voice, I Dont Care About You is pretty close.
The Archer
Anybody else think Axl's got a Southern Rock song in him? Or perhaps a banjo stomping number would be nice? I know Indiana is located in the Midwest but I think Axl's got a bit of a southern vibe. I can picture him singing something like Midnight Rider, Devil Went Down To Georgia or Tuesdays Gone.In the Axl chats, he said that Sweet Child of Mine was supposed to be a Lynyrd Skynyrd tribute/influenced song. That's the closest that I can think.
Amir
There's one interview where, when describing the sound of the Illusions albums, he describes the first half of UYI II as "the South rises again".

Janis
Well he's got the wild west/biker/truck driver look so I'm sure it wouldn't be difficult to compose a song! Why do people get a redneck vibe from Axl??
