luciusfunk
Elton by a long shot. I only like a few Joel songs and pretty much all of River of Dreams. I grew up on Elton John. My sisters had Greatest Hits 1976-1986 and the Lion King soundtrack.
Dan H.
I voted Elton, but I like more of Joel's songs.

wfse
Elton is more popular so I expect he'll win this poll.Still, I feel Billy has way more songs I like, a better voice, a better overall vibe, and a little more integrity than Elton. https://www.youtube....44&feature=slplDoesn't get better than that. LightningBolt
Really tough choice. The Stranger is one of my absolute favorite albums. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is really good, too, though.Elton John has more good songs across more albums, but no single album of his even touches The Stranger... I'm leaning towards Billy Joel. Zeppelin
I love both and have seen both live. But Billy Joel's music will always mean more to me. The Stranger is definitely one of my all-time favourite albums, and beyond that, Turnstiles, Streetlife Serenade, 52nd Street, An Innocent Man, Glass Houses, and The Nylon Curtain are all fantastic albums. I listen to all of them on a regular basis.
Redhead74
Which piano man do you prefer?Mozart and Beethoven. Both are significantly more talented than either Joel or John. In fact if I just said Joel or John to someone, they'd say Joel and John who? Never have to use Mozart's or Beethoven's first names to clarify who we're talking about. That's the difference between genius and commercially successful.

Billy Joel bores me whenever he's on the oldies/easy listening/adult contemporary station I always listen to.

I'm sure he has some original sheet music worth a few bucks from "the masters".
sweetness
Love both a ton but I much prefere Elton John to Billy joel. Some of Joel's songs just annoy the piss out of me, mainly Uptown Girl and We Didn't Start The Fire
ShadowOfTheWave
I voted Joel. When Elton comes up with a great melody it's unbeatable, I think Someone Saved My Life Tonight is better than any other song either of them recorded. But Joel also writes lyrics and consistently writes (wrote) better songs, even if alot of them I don't like.
