The Dial Up Thread :P

Ah, never mind, I'll use it as a sig on another site, or as an avatar on a site with no size limits.

Fair enough. Was that a dig? :P

In all fairness though, as i'm sure other dial-up users will know, it took more than a minute for that image to appear on my screen. If everyone used images that large i simply couldn't use the forum.

Nah, I don't think it was a dig, Rick -- He's on dialup too!

Axlander's like me -- Constantly getting into everyone with enormous sigs + avatars because of dialup.

It took me about 3 minutes to load this thread, I just lost my dial up connection, and yeah..it took about 3 minutes for the picture to load when I first posted it as well.

Man, I remember dial-up. It's been about 3 years since I last had it. It was a scary thing to behold. :scared:

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

God, tell me about it. I hate it so much. The worst thing is it disconnects me after two hours which means it's a pain to download anything unless it can be done within two hours. So what's that, about 10mb :(

Pardon me asking, but who is your Internet provider? It seems daft being on dial up because broadband is a lot cheaper now.. eg if you're on AOL you pay £15.99 for dial up, but you can get their broadband for £17.99. Even better BT 1mb broadband is only £15.99...

I use wannadoo. I know it's daft, but this only costs me £9.99 a month. Plus i can use it on both computers (Not at the same time). If i got broadband then i'd need to buy a router.

Don't both those broadband deals you mentioned have a data transfer limit? Last time i looked into the BT one it was £15.99 a month, but it was a maximum of 1GB transfer a month?

I don't know about BT sorry, but on AOL i'm pretty sure there's no limit, I think it even talks about it on the tv ad. BT is probably better than AOL though, well you get more for your money at least. 1mb AOL is £24.99! thiefing buggers!

Hmmm, i've found a really good unlimited deal. My new job starts next week so i'll be looking into it again.

Thanks for that though guys :)
