Did Axl have a PA named Jackamo?

I think it's time to admit, I made up that rumour about the band recording a Faith No More cover for the Texas Chainsaw Massacre on Wikipedia just to see if it'd reach this forum, and hey presto it did. What I never believed it'd lead to is Eat My Silkworms interviewing Roddy Bottum, and asking him about it.

I miss Eat My Silkworms.

Me and adnan were also a little involved with the Eat My Silkworms fansite. Haven't spoken to adnan in ages; he posts on IMDb a lot, now.

Jackamo and HRS secured most of the interviews and stuff, though. HRS just basically walked right into a post-party and got to meet all those guys. I remember him saying Axl's girlfriend (probably Sasha?) said the remixed Silkworms was her favourite track on the entire album, and Axl was drunkenly rambling about how Buckethead did "amazing" stuff on it, but...then it didn't even wind up on there. :(

Not sure if this is public knowledge but after HRS posted those photos of Axl holding the sign, HRS said Axl had his lawyers shut down the fansite (it was hosted on one of those free hosting sites, so obviously they're more likely to remove content than an actual paid web host) AND shut down the MySpace page.

It just disappeared one day. Was kind of a bummer because we lost all our interviews and content. We had interviews with the keyboardist from Faith No More and the porn star daughter of David Lee Roth. I remember either adnan or Jackamo contacted her and she actually responded and gave her mobile phone number and said we could text or call her with questions.

I wrote an essay on Silkworms exploring the mesmerizing lyrical prowess of the song and I'm pretty sure it's gone forever. :(

Hahaha. Actually Axl's lawyer shutting us down wasn't related to the Axl pic at the party. After interviewing Merck and the people at Geffen, I wanted to interview Axl's lawyer. This was during one of the silly nuisance lawsuits they were filing against godknowswho. I thought it would be amusing to interview Axl's team about their hotly anticipated unreleased next lawsuit, goofing on their unreleased album.

The lawyer guy recognized my voice immediately and got all pissed off, yelling about how it was against the law to record his voice. I made fun of him and he made fun of me and after a while I pointed out how he could have just hung up 20 minutes ago, so either his job was miserably boring or he actually had fun talking to me. He said it was both, and strangely enough, we kinda hit it off. we agreed to meet up that night at a bar in Hollywood and continue taking about Axl. We actually got kinda chummy on the phone. But later, I ended up getting the bar we were going to meet at mixed up with another bar. So he thought I no showed and was trying to fuck with him and embarrass him by standing him up.

When I got home, he'd left me some angry message and posted all over EMS's chat box about how we were losers and assholes and by morning he'd taken all our stuff down. So it actually had nothing to do with Axl and everything to do with the various soulless corporate attorneys who make a living suing people in his name.

interesting to hear the full story.

i figured it wasn't axl directly but you never know.

btw, i don't at all want to drag this into an off-topic "old forum reminiscing" thing, but there are a lot of people who try to claim we still censor here and blah blah blah. especially lately there's been some wild accusations.

i just want to point out to some of the newer forum members who may not remember the EMS days, the website, even the phrase "Eat My Silkworms" was completely banned from the forum because the goofiness and subversiveness of the humour didn't sit well with certain people. That, plus adnan spammed the URL a few times too many. But literally every reference to the site was blocked, it wasn't allowed to be talked about or linked to, and people were suspended and banned over it. That was the sort of selective, um, not censorship per se, but restrictions that used to happen that I have to remind people of from time to time when they try to make it out like we're some kind of dictatorship here. I think we're way more open to stuff like EMS than five years ago or so. I love MyGNR and I'm not speaking ill of anyone involved with the site years ago, I started here as a poster back then and there's a reason I stayed, but sometimes people look at the past with rose-colored glasses or whatever the expression is.

EMS was a lot of fun though, Jackamo and HRS are two insanely funny guys and also very talented creatively.

HRS, you should post your old Pitman bluegrass tunes here. I'm sure a lot of people haven't heard them. The Mother Goose Pickers, right?

So Axl's lawyer got revenge on you

Sad to lose the site content

Maybe the mods could secure an official mygnr interview with jackamo

Actually, I'd love to get the old Eat My Silkworms story out there. If HRS was still around, we could interview them both.

HRS got into a party and got Axl to actually hold a sign up saying "Eat My Silkworms" on it.

You do know that CoolRanchDressing is HRS, right?

Sort of funny to see you talk to him about interviewing him.

Occasionally ill miss a thing or two, clearly...

Just curious though, are your housemates posting as cool ranch as well? The account reads like more than one person...

First time I've seen the lawyer story.

ER: absolutely in regards to censorship. We couldn't even mention the site then. Granted, Adnan's spamming didn't hurt. But back before CD came out, people were just not ready to have a laugh at the whole weird nugnr experience. Now that its come out, it's a different story. If you'd told me back then that an EMS mod would become a mygnr mod, I wouldn't have believed it.

HV: nah, just me posting as CRD. An old account I made for when I was banned. Or for mocking gunsguy back when he set the tone round these parts.

Things were taken waaaay too seriously in those days, and I say that having been a member of the staff at that time. The whole situation did end up getting a little out of control once the decision was made that the site should be censored. The whole thing was hilarious and should have been treated as such. Just highlighted the ridiculousness of the whole situation.

Shit like that helped keep the place going when it didn't look like Axl was ever going to come back out of his hidey-hole. People had to be a lot more creative when it came to keeping others entertained.

Ahhh both of those guys heard those renditions a long, long time ago. :)

I remember the eat my silkworms thing but for me it's the first time I've heard the pickers

I actually remember Ron giving them a shoutout in an interview... :D

The pickers should continue and do the whole album

What a loser ( the attorney). I wonder how many things have happened that made us think Axl was involved and he actually wasn´t...
