Led Zep O2 show

Recommended Posts

Marc- Plant agreed to reunite Zep for the 2007 O2 gig (which was phenomenal) to honor/benefit Armit Ertugan (foundation). The band (with Jason on drums) was tight and 65ish year old Plant sounded great as they tore through 'Good Times'.....'Kashmir'....'Stairway'...etc..... Anyone out there that would/could inspire Axl to reunite Guns?

The reason that the O2 show happened was because past Led Zeppelin "one offs" had come off badly (it's not on the Live Aid DVD) as well as honoring the memory of Ahmet Ertegun.

If David Geffen passed, would GNR reunite? Probably not, because there didn't seem to be the same association Ahmet had with Led Zep.

The truth is it would take more than I thought to get that done. The hate is coming from both sides not just Axl's side. They both still blame each other for all the shit that went down.

Slash seemed open to some reconciliation a few years ago. I'm guessing he grew more bitter?

I guess what I was getting at is is their anyone out there that Axl respects/looks so highly upon that would make him think about a one off show ala the Zep O2 deal. IE- If Freddy (RIP) were to have just passed say last week and the remaining Queen members etc...held that same Freddie show circa 2014 and asked Axl "plz reunite for the one show" would he have done it?

Would'nt you? He can't do anything right in Axl's eyes. No matter how much compliments he gives, Axl still stays a stubborn fuck and slags him off with any chance he gets. I feel he just let it go after the RR HOF, he has been nice enough and isn't Axl's lapdog and rightly so.

But the venom was muuuuuuch stronger and more latent a few years ago. And I can't remember the last time I read a compliment from Slash about Axl.

Actually, I don't think he grew more bitter, he is just happy with the way things are now I guess. He is creating/writing/performing with a stable line-up of musicians with professional conduct in a friendly work environment. In light of recent Axl performances on YT, I don't think he should bother going out of his way to please such a spiteful person with horrible work ethic.

John-Bonham-Stainless-Steel-Ludwig-Drums

Led Zeppelin is better than all the other Classic Rock acts because they actually had the integrity to break up when John Bonham died.

That's just one of the (big) reasons that they still have such Legendary status.

The integrity Plant has for keeping the Zep legacy alive & well is so under appreciated. Dude coulda sold out (still could) but wouldn't. Zep was the 4 of them and that's it.

I look at Sabbath (well, Iommi and Butler) back with Ozzy and I can't help but respect Plant even more.

Better to bow out while you still have it (and by that I mean Ozzy doesn't have it anymore)...I understand and respect them getting Jason Bohnam to play with them for the one off reunions over the years but it really isn't Led Zeppelin, Jason kinda sucks IMO.
