In the market for a new tablet.

Recommended Posts

I need a tablet for basic use - primarily web browsing, YouTube, and book reading. I specifically need one with access to the Google Play store apps (so Amazon Fire is out of the equation), because i use their music and book apps.

Leaning towards this: https://www.amazon.com/Android-PixelMaster-TouchScreen-Quad-Core-Processor/dp/B01FGCXUDU/ref=sr_1_2?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1494189052&sr=1-2&keywords=asus+tablet

...but thought I'd see if anyone has a better recommendation or would steer me in a different direction?

I'm pretty certain i bought that one for one of my Grandchildren for Xmas just gone, It's really good value and does everything he needs it for, music, games and youtube. Works as well as an iPad. I was lucky enough to get it on Amazon daily deals for cheaper than usual so i got him a case for it too.

I would recommend https://www.amazon.com/Nexus-Google-7-Inch-Black-Tablet/dp/B00DVFLJDS/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1495408525&sr=8-3&keywords=nexus+7

more money sure but it is the best tablet i have seen at that price range.  I own one and could not be happier with its performance for everything.  If you read a lot I would purchase an ereader anything else will over time fuck your eyes up being backlit.  An ereader doesn't.

The Nexus 7 is loaded and they didn't cheap out on the components, it was issued by Google themselves and is killer

Even though you can fuck with Fire Tabs, just get an Android.

My recommendation would be to make sure you have more than a gig of RAM. The ASUS is probably a safe bet, I've had good luck with them.

When my boss asked me to get us a tablet at work, I actually settled on a Fusion5. Off brand Chinese crap, right? Pleasantly surprised.  Full size USB and HDMI out.

Something to consider.
